Hip Hip hurray! I may be able to get Scott's Jeep fixed for me to have a way of getting around. Larry said I could use the state refund. It's for the amount to get the Jeep repaired within a few dollars. Got to pay Federal tax and they can just add it on to the amount I'm still paying from 2 years ago. I'm glad Larry sees that with the Jeep fixed it will be more sellable than a busted engine and two back windows and windshield out and cracked. I just knew he was going to apply state to fed. But that vehicle is just sitting out there. Don't yall think I need a way to get around. If I get it fixed before memorial day, I can drive it all the way to Marions. Another delimma solved! Yay!

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

Cody,. I just learn so much from your pictures. I had no idea Brugs bloomed in the spring. Do yours ever go dormant? You know not to let your doggie chew on any part of a Brug don't you? Just had to get that out just in case you didn't know they were posionous.

Coushatta, LA

Thanks Deborah,i keep them in the greenhouse in a pot.I guess they were happy so they bloomed.I have another one buding in the green house too.As long as you keep them in the greenhouse during winter with a heater they won't go dormant. They just won't bloom until around this time.Yea, i knew they are posionous,i won't even let my son around them.

Watched a disappointing episode of Survivor after a day outside, rearranging hardscapes :(
Trisha I'm moving next door to you!! It's lonesome when Kel's not much into veges..
Synda, I have to cut back on red meat, as it's bad for my heart. And I had it replumbed a few years back :( If I could give up ciggies, I can do this too.. right? Alas..
Yayyyy.. we're gonna all be ducky aunties again! Oh BJ, we'll be able to feed our duckies come May!!
BJ, I grew topsy turvy cherry tomatoes last year in a Dollar General planter. That cost me a dollar, lined with husk/fiber to hold the moisture in.. then the soil.

Hello Everyone.

Got all the monies figure out for my mom. Have been outside looking at the flowers that are blooming and taking pix of them all. She has a lavender iris in bloom right now and it is so pretty. Her iris' are scatered all around her front yard. I'm going to dig them all up later this year and make an iris garden for her. I really miss my home:( I want to move back up this way so bad.

LOL Synda, I don't think you got my 11 pounds, Rick did. He looks like he is about 14 months pregnant. And he wonders why his back hurts. He has a bowflex that is collecting dust...................

LK, I make those dolls. I have two here I will take pix of them. One of them is kind of faded because she was leaning against a tree in my garden when I lived in Colfax. I made one for my MIL, I dressed it up in 49er clothes and made a copy of my late hubby's birth certificate and put it in his back pocket, also made one for my SIL to look like her 1st grandson. They let the kids play with them and they tore them all apart. I sold them for $50 a piece.

Deborah, what kind of jeep. I have a "75" CJ5 that was my husbands. His nephew took it to fix it up for me. Well, needless to say it's not running half of the parts are missing. It has new seats, new top, but I gave him $4000.00 I told him I wanted it running before he spent any money fixing it up and painted. He painted it with black spray paint which is peeling off. He went and raised it up, now I need a step stool to get up in it. When I told him to bring it back to me, he wanted to know if I was going to pay him for the labor. Where did the $4000.00 go??? he also took the tow bar off of the front, which I never asked him to do and probably sold it. OH I was so MAD when I saw the jeep. To this day I will NOT speak to him!!!

Raleigh, NC

y'all, sorry to be AWOL - dizzies today. got outside to take photos, did well enough I sent Ruth back in. did 15 mins . of weeding - and almost didn't make it back inside without falling. just all of a sudden the world tilted and I couldn't get clear head or oxygen even though I was breathing well. also can't concentrate on reading here. going to bed early.

I forgot to tell ya all this.............. A couple of weeks ago Rick came up here to do so,e things for my mom. She asked him to trim the wisteria and honeysuckle off of the roof. She was in the house doing some stuff, decided to see how Rick was doing. OMG he is on her s@%$ list. He went and cut down her clematis that was getting ready to bloom. She dug that up from a house that I was moving out of and babied it for a long time. It was a darh purple and the flowers were as big as cds. Well, I had to call him and let him know that. He said "opps". I told him come this summer he is going to build my mom a new lattis and buy her a clematis. He didn't like that to well and I told him he needs to learn to not do things that he is not asked to do. He has a bad habit of going behind me and undoing things that I have. Like yesterday before I left I had taken some plants and gave them a shower. I have a rubber tree that is in a really neat pot that I got at K-Mart a couple of years ago and the stand that it's on has to be just right. He went and move it ( I didn't know he had) pretty soon crash!!! I didn't care about the plant it was the pot. He is very lucky to be alive today. It didn't break.

Bonnie PLEASE GO TO THE DOCTOR

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Yahooooooo.... Deborah is getting her own ride !!!!! I'm dancin' the happy dance for you sistah...

Beautiful Brug, Cody... Last year was my first time to have a 2 brugs... still haven't seen a bloom on them... cut them back before frost, and rooted the cuttings... Got some cuttings at last fall's RU in Tyler... rooted some of them... some of them didn't root for me.. so, this year I ended up with way too many... Now, I have 6 planted down by the gazebo (including the 2 that I cut back, came back up from the roots), and I planted 2 in the secret garden, and 2 in pots on the deck ... gave two to my DIL, one to a neighbor, and have 2 set aside to give my sister in San Marcos when I see her. I still have 2 in pots that I don't know where to put them yet. Surely I'll see a bloom this year out of all that.

Jaye... How cool is that upside down tomato planter... did it dry out very fast? I have some of those coconut lined pots, and I have found that what ever I planted in them would dry out so fast I couldn't get anything to live in them. But, it looks like you made it work, because that tomato looks very happy.

Well... I'm exhausted... been a long, grueling day... so, I'm off to bed now.
It's raining here, so sleep should come very soon.

Nighty Night, all.

I was told on the upside down tomato planters a gallon of water a day.......that is about what mine took........

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Cindy don't panic, the clematis might grow back. Mine do.

Bonnie, don't play Russian roulette with your health. Please see a doctor soon.

I'm not too far behind BJ. Too tired right now to even enjoy Trailer Park Boys.

Hold the night fort Synda!!

I'm off to beddy land!! Good night sweet ones!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Trisha, not that much for me as the fibers do hold moisture. When it's too hot, I water them daily.

G'nite..

Got here in time to go bed ladies. I'm right behind you. I have sat at my sewing machine for three days now, but have 16 dresses and 1 apron finished. I have 20 aprons ready to start on tomorrow. Have to sew all I can tomorrow as the two small grandsons are coming tomorrow night and will get no sewing done this weekend. lol
It is the oldest one's birthday Monday, he will be 8 big years! We are going bowling with him Sunday. He loves helping me in the yard and loves watching things grow. So I bought him his own little garden gloves, a bulb planter, hoe, rake, and shovel, and a cart to put it all in. I hope he likes it. I think he will. But I know as soon as he sees it, lol,,,he'll want to go out and start working in the yard some more.
Ohhhhh, I was so mad today! I walked around checking on my plants while taking a much needed break,,,and found my three lilies coming up, but an armadillo had eaten the center out of one. He didn't dig the bulb up, but just ate the top off of it. First of these lilies I've had.
Okay, I second that motion Bonnie, you need to go the doctor. Something is going on.
To all the other sistahs, good night, sleep well, and maybe I can get on sooner tomorrow.

Hi Everyone,

I landed here at Jaye's invitation and came from Robin's 'Raise my Baby 2009' plant swap. Thanks again Jaye, you're so sweet for the invite!
Anybody else who'd like to participate, sign up. There's about a week left :

http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/973160/

Thank all of you for welcoming me! And at Linda Kay's prompt, here goes my introduction.

I just turned 51 a week ago, will be married 15 years on July 16th to my DH (he ought to be since I waited til I was 36 to marry, that makes him my 1st and only DH -- LOL). No kids, no siblings, and sadly both my parents are gone. I have 2 sis-in-laws I dearly love who both live in the greater DFW area. One has been my BF for 25 years, we used to work together and visited the local Farmer's Market for flowers every year before she moved to TX, she's the one who introduced me to her brother.

I've been an avid gardener since I was a child and learned most of what I know about growing veggies from my Dad. My Mom had the most gorgeous Rose garden and had a penchant for houseplants, hoyas, and cacti. They really were the best match of both Worlds and were together for 50 years.

I've been away from gardening 5 years due to work. Since I'm not working now, I really want to try my hand again and can't wait til I keep dirt under my fingernails every day! Since my knowledge is a little rusty, I needed to refresh my memory, so that's basically how I found DG. I only lurked 2 days before I joined on March 1st. I guess I'm still considered to be a 'newbie' and can't say enough about how great everyone has treated me and how welcome I feel.

So I'm back this year with all new gardens. My DH has tilled my veggie garden but May 10th is our last projected frost date. I have squash, zucchini, cucumbers, tomatoes, banana peppers, and a variety of herbs started from seeds in flats that are doing well..... I can hardly wait to plant them. Our utility building needing a little sprucing up, so I've dedicated that area as my perennial garden where I planted hostas, Ajuga, and a few Semps 2 weeks ago. First I had to shovel out the grass, lay down black landscape fabric, hauled in a truck load of mulch, and then unloaded it all by myself. That took 2 days and my back is still recovering! Just waiting now til it's warm enough to add my Columbines, Caladiums, Speedwell, and 'Amethyst in the Snow' Centaurea, adding new plants will be the easy part.

Today my DH broke ground on a 120' long flower bed from the back of our garage that extends to the road out front. That'll probably take 3 more truck loads of mulch. I hope my back holds out! Anybody care to give me advise about edging? I'd really appreciate it.

It's so great to join this group. And Jaye, you're more than just a page-turner! I know I'm good company with all you seasoned gardeners that aren't nearly as rusty as I am.

Happy Gardening,
Susan

Hey there Susan,
Sounds like you've got great gardening plans. On that 120' one, make it flow with a slight curvy effect and cut down into the edge and push the shovel back so the grass will stop ath the cut. Just maintain that edging with weed-eater and recut with a shovel a couple of times during the summer as needed.. There's a gardener from Ala. who has shown pictures of his edging on a long bed and it is just out of this world goreous. Looks like he paid a landscaper to do it. For the life of me I can't remember his handle. He writes stories, does anyone know who I'm talking about? If I could remember his name I could trace his post to find his picture. Sorry Susan. Maybe it will come to me. Welcome to the sistahhood girl friend!

Thanks BJ.

Good night everyone!!!!!!!!

Good Morning Ladies

I have been MIA and I wish I could say I have been lurking but hnestly I havent been online for a few days to get any reading done.

Jaye I did catch that you are having headaches and Im so sorry to hear it.. Thats one thing I cant stand to have..

Bonnie please do go to the doctor, dizzy spells can be from so many issues.. I was getting them unti lI figured out after testing myself for several days that I have low blood sugar.. I was getting dizzy spells and even having problems with my eyes.. No I know what to watch forand have learned to manage it on my own..

Susan Happy Belated Birthday!

Well as for us you know we have been crazy busy... The house is pretty much wrapped up other than a few thiings that will be packed up this week. I worked on paperwork all day yesterday and I think I have 80% of it done now and ready to go. My best friend is looking at 3 rentals for us tomorrow and sending pictures to us once she leaves on her laptop. She even spoke with the landlords and told them what and why she was looking before setting up the appointments. One gentleman told her if we were interessted in the house he has he woul donly charge us a half a deposit to help us out a bit... He has a 3 bd 1 1/2 bath house with a detactched garage for 500... I cant wait to see pictures of that one and a thrilled she is doing so much for us..

I dont know if I told you but Maxs dad has work lined up for him once we get there with him as well. He has 2 remodling jobs that he told Max he eeded a hand with and they used to do this before Max went into the navy and they made great money so thats one more blessing on our side.

The barbershop Im stepping into needs help from what Im told by friends and family in the area. The woman he has running it now never shows up to open up so buisness has declined but hats why he wants me to come in and run things. Im working on ideas for flyers to drop and things I can do to get it booming again..

We also moved our date and Im not sure if I told you all yet so if I did please accept my apologies.. We will be picking up the truck on the 26th at 8 am.. just alittle over a week away... whew time moves fast.. We will pack the truck, nap for a few hours and drive through the night to reduce the stress on the kids and the vehicles.. If all goes as planned we will get there monday early morning and sleep again for a few hours then get up and go talk to landlords.. We are hoping to be able to unload the truck directly into a new home instead of a storage unit. Only thing left is to gather more funds for the gas in both trucks but Max will get another paycheck on the friday before we leave so that will be all gas... lol

Okay I think I have rambled long enough to myself.. lol
Anyone else up I have coffee and cinamon rolls ready..

Huggs
Donna

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Thanks for the breakfast DOnna, please take it easy during the move, and let us know when you get settled in!

Susan, welcome to the group, and thanks for posting about yourself. Happy Belated Birthday!

We have LOTS of rain her last night and this morning. Much needed rain. Just don't like the the MUD that comes with it!

Morning Ladies,

Hey Donna, so glad things are looking up for you. Wow rent is low in Ohio , a place like that here in Aubune would go for 1500.00.

LK, did you read above posts about the Peek-A-Boo dolls?

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Oh I did. So are you going to make me a pair? They don't even have to be dressed, as I will most likely find some baby clothes here. I just want the dolls for my garden!

Jaye how is that headache today? Better I hope!

Morning to everyone else. Have a good day.

LK

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Let me post a pix of the ones I made, but it won't be until Monday. I'm not going to take my fish home because it is suppose to be 90 on Monday. I have to come back up here again on the 22nd so I will bring them home then. I make them two ways, with clothe black faces or with vinyl heads with hair. When I get back to Marysville I will look for the pix of the 49er one that I made.

When I first made them my grandson was about 2 or 3, I had them standing in a corner, my daughter had dropped him for me to babysit. My mom said to him "Kain, look at that little boy he's having a time out." Kain walked over real slow and poked the doll said "Hey", then turned and looked at us and said "He not real boy". LOL it was so cute we laughed so hard.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

There is no hurry for this at all. I know you have a bunch of things to do, and plant, so just when you get to it!

Thanks

LK

Lancaster, OH(Zone 6a)

Hi LK Hi Cindy...

Yup the rentals are cheap up home.. The house next door without the garage in this area rents for 1200 too... The difference is crazy for sure..

Love those little dolls they are soo cute..

Just figured I woul dcheck back in real quick before I head out to mow the front yard one last time before we go next weekend.. I took Bella visiting at the coffee shop and barbershop to see my sister and stopped off at the park for a walk. Bella didnt know what to think of the geese.. They wanted food so they were following us around.. She didnt bark or growl but was very confused... lol
