hiked and napped - no clean up!!?
New Project #2
Yes! The weather was crappy. That's why I napped. But when I awoke the weather had improved so I did miss a bit of time before the rain started again. Tomorrow.
I would have napped today but was afraid I would have slept the entire day.
Well, I worked, and I took one of my clients on a long walk at Wompatuck State Park in Hingham, MA today. Has anyone here ever been there? What a beautiful park. Acres and acres, paved and unpaved trails. Lots of boulders and moss covered rocks. Lots of trees. So nice. Next time I will bring my camera for sure.

Good place to nap?
LOL
LOL! It could be, but watch out for ticks. I found one on me when I got home, though he hadn't taken a bite yet. Could have picked him up in my yard, though, as I was out there taking pics tonight after work.

wet grass =ticks
Had a tick on my sock today while hiking.
I'm back and Bill is still working!
Actually got back at 2:30 a.m. Tuesday morning. Got to spend an extra 3&1/2 on the plane on the ground in Baltimore.
welcome back Dave - always disliked those cross country flights
had my third tick on me the other day - this one was still deciding on where to bite me
Haven't seen a tick yet...even the bunnies seem to be tick free. Very good sign!
Welcome back, Dave...good thing you didn't fly into Philly 2 planes were struck by lightning.
Yes! Welcome back, Mr. Dave47! How was the trip?
Welcome home Dave47. Well if there were any ticks around here the 3 inches of snow last night probably offed them. I'm ticked though cuz some very pretty crocii were just opening when they got dumped on so I won't see those this year :(
YIKES Dnut!!! Hope you haven't put the snow shovel away.
I'm sorry about the snow, Dnut!
Keeping tabs on yo'all while I am sitting under a fully leafed out tree ,as it is nice and sunny 80 degrees down here in New Orleans. No work going on for me this week except with a fork. Patti
No Jan 23 but I got DH to run over the shovel with the truck this morning just for spite. Actually other than those particular crocii, the buds are still closed on all the other stuff so those will be ok. Still glad we killed the shovel though.
mmmmmm gumbo mmmmmmmmm jambalaya mmmmmm
d-nut .....my condolences! I take it those are NOT snow crocus? I used to have some years ago that would pop up thru the last inch or two of snow.
Pixie they are resilient little things, aren't they? They could be fine but if the snow is really heavy and wet (which it was) and the flowers are open sometimes they can get de-petaled. They're buried still so I can't tell. I'm hoping my sacrifice of the shovel to the snow gods saved them ^_^
Snow?!!! Bummer! Here's hoping for warmer weather for you. We are getting summer this weekend. I'll try and send it your way.

My son had a tick on him the other day (fortunately not embedded)
I did fly into Philly after a 3 and a half hour landing in Baltimore. We could still see the lightening not very far away.
The trip was a training but I stayed a few extra days. Saw the San Diego zoo, the attraction they made out of thedecommissioned aircraft carrier the Midway, Old Town and Coronado. Very nice. I was amazed how Bird of Paradise grew all over the place and the succulants that grow on sand dunes, etc.
Unusuall for me to travel a lot, but I'm off to Orlando soon to see a garden (forgot the name) plus go to Epcot's flower show
Man on the go!
Worked on the pond today. Cleaned it out, hit the spot I suspect as the likely leak source and turned on the pump. The birds are very grateful.
Grass seems to be enemy number one for me this year. Turg grass in the beds is out of control. And one of my ornamental grasses has suddenly gone nuts seeding itself everywhere! I had this grass for about ten years and it was always well-behaved!
Victor, it's getting frisky because it's a teenager.
BTW - which grass? Need to remember frisky grass info.
Not sure, Kate. Will have to check.
Found a patch of ornamental grass that is just brown, brown, brown. I'm guessing it's gone, gone, gone. Oh well. Now I have an excuse to try another. But, for the life of me, I can't remember the name of the now dearly departed used to be green but now is brown grass.
Karl Foerster is my favorite.
I got my 2 new witch hazels in the mail on Thursday, and today I planted them. Also did some brush and briar cutting. Tomorrow I will be burning, cleaning out more beds, and more brush and briar cutting. Busy, busy, busy! I didn't get to do a lot today, as I had to go to a memorial service for a friend's father. That took a big chunk out of my day. Also had breakfast with my Dad and a friend. So I only worked for a couple of hours in the late evening, from about 5:15 till it got dark. Will have more time for working in the yard tomorrow.

Karl Foerster is on my dogs' Favourites list. I'm glad I have many - apparently, the new growth is to die for. Hakone grasses, too. These need to be out of reach or they are subject to severe pruning.
Is that a fox hound, Candyce?
Karen
Beautiful dog.
Yes. Roscoe is an American Fox hound. Some of you met him at the RU last fall. He's a lot larger now, isn't he? He'll be a year old in June. Gawd, he's a handful!!! But, he's a pretty puppy!
hey one cable was not enough to hold him???... pretty strong huh?
I weigh 125 lbs. He pulls me around without a problem, even when I don't want him to. Yeah - he's VERY strong. But, the cable was doubled to shorten the area he could run in so he wouldn't trip up the kiddos.
Here's a photo of the project I am helping with this spring. This gazebo sits behind the Town Hall and is very run down. About twenty of us have approached the town and have volunteered to get it all fixed up so it can be less of an eyesore and more of a gathering spot. Yesterday four of us gathered to clean out the inside. Week after next we borrow someone's forklift to raise the top off of it and tear apart the stone walls. Hey Bill ~ you wanna come help?
