And, here's the roof. Not very protective at this point.
New Project #2
if i help any stone i touch comes home with me:)
Well then. I guess you aren't invited. These stones have to stay here.
I retract my invitation, ^_^ , sorry.
too bad i need more good sized rock
Candyce, I love the stone base, wow too bad it wasn't kept up. That gazebo must of been beautiful back in the day!!!!
And we hope to restore it to just the way it was, back in the day. It sure must have been beautiful then. It will be very gratifying to be a part of its restoration.
Oh take lots of pics please!!!! I think thats great what your doing!!!!!!!!!!
Oh yeah. I am the official photo recorder for this project. Our town contains about 650 souls, and we have about 105 of us that are dedicating what we can to the town. Our motto is "a group of friends and neighbors with all kinds of talents and skills who wish to help meet the needs of the community". We figure that with the economy being so bad it's the least we can do to band together and use what we have to help each other when we can.
Great thing, Candyce! Long motto, though. ^_^
I agree Victor, but it's a lot shorter than it was when it started. It was three paragraphs long then. Really! I'm not kidding!
Would take longer to recite it than fix the gazebo!
Wha I am just getting to look at your photo's now. What a spectacular yard you have - you must be so proud.....you are always doing someone wonderful to that yard. I don't know where you find the energy! LOL Good for you.
I think you mean, '..always doing SOMETHING wonderful...', Dawn!
Ha!!! Good thing you pointed that out....I was going to edit it but it is too funny...I will leave it as is teehee!!! I guess I had somethine else on my mind LOL.
Or someone.^_^
the patio is coming along - the walls are done front and back - as it the gravel base - i am up to 50 bags of sand so far - will need another 20+ to finish. no pic's to busy with everything
hee hee
Such a busy bee!
Candyce,
650 souls, how many soulless zombies?
Those would be ..... naw, I dare not write what I'm thinking ... LOL!
Pics and more pics please Candyce and wha! Your town has great heart Candyce. Better not tell too many people this or suddenly it will be a million and 650. oops too late. 78,000 DGers just called the movers.
Candyce, we had a foxhound when we were kids. He had that tail that drooped like yours does. He was a stray that wandered into our lives one day, and we named him Duke. Then, when we were on vacation in Maine for a weekend or so, he disappeared and never was found again. I don't remember how long he stayed with us. Maybe he was just passing through on his way somewhere else. He was quite independent. I saw a show on TV about fox hunting, and they were saying how foxhounds are more pack dogs than any other breed, as they are kept together in a pack in their kennels, and they are more independent.
Great project you have going there on that restoration! You guys will be so proud of it once it's done. You have some wonderful people in your community. I wanna move there now, but I can't leave my place behind. I have too much work into it, and I would hate to have someone buy it and watch it get ruined or just not taken care of. That's an awful thought!
Bill, can't wait to see pics of your project!
Karen
dnut - karen here is a second story view of where i'm at with the patio - i need about 15 more bags of sand to begin setting the bricks in.
while doing this i have begun de-construction of what remained of the blue stone wall out front that will be re-built with rock which i have again started to collect - need some large stone and have been able to find a couple nice ones. still need more though.
Love the aerial view. It looks great!!!
Nice view, Bill. I like the look of the bags. Would make a nice patio.
yeah sherrie in hindsight it may have been cheaper - although the delivery alone would have been $50
thx jan - funny victor:)
Sand bag collage? Nice. Patti
i also greatly under estimated how much sand and gravel were needed - didn't bother doing the math because i did not think it was that big - hope now that i have enough bricks - those can be expensive
O it looks tres fabby wha! Are you going to fit the bricks or leave spaces between for plantings? I would like to leave spaces between the stones for the look and to try some little ground covers on the new patio here but I'm worried that it will become a weed nightmare.
dnut it will be a brick patio with plants in front and behind the patio - i will use the herringbone brick design - i have a garden bench and a small two seat patio set that will go on the patio - may have some plant containers either on the wall or in the corners.
Herringbone will look great! I thought the wall was to set your beer on?
who has time to set a beer down:) it could get warm
that is a different wall by the horseshoe pits:)
Ahhhh so many wha walls I'm getting confused.
LOL! Cousin Nut, I know what you mean. Bill, it's coming along nicely, and will look fabulous once it's done. You will enjoy it for many years to come.
Karen
wha love the rock wall and the bed wow you are a busy bee
was the rock on the property or did you buy it
the rock was in another rock wall that was on the property and falling down. so i replaced it with a real rock wall and using this blue stone for the patio.
you have an amazing property hope mine will so as good one day and about 10 years down the road hahahha just moved last year so lots of work to do the last owners had health issues and let the place slide for many years
thx - from what you've shared with us i know you will move fast and have good ideas - mine may not be as nice as i looks in a picture - i look out there and see lots of things that need to be done.
