Love those beds with the stone borders.
New Project #2
Killjoy is a nice word. Patti
killjoy? i re-read my post - do not be confused we were smiling the whole time:)
I think "love" or "sore back" spelled out in stone would be charming....at Disney world. I assumed she married you because you were USA Grade ALL Natural Certified Beef. The new work is wonderful. Patti
thx patti - we'll have to let her answer why - i'm still not sure - just lucky:)
Jo Anne, I need one of those, too!!!!!
Bill, so ambitious, as usual. But your before and after pics look exactly the same to me.???
Last night I got more raking out of beds in the back done. I have many projects I need to attend to, but I still have many beds to clean out, too. Sigh!! So much to do.
Karen
LOL Ge.... and it looks great Bill
Okey dokey, Bill!
Karen
Great transformation Bill.My hats off to you LOL pun intended
That's for sure!
Karen
can't say the same about me and other peoples rocks:)
you are more than welcome to come here and take my rocks!
I used to think we had too many rocks. That was 'Before Bill' (BB). Now I know that we don't have near enough!! I was showing all your hard work to Anna this morning, just before we head out to pull some weeds. You have certainly done some spectacular work.
thx candyce
You are amazing wha! I like Mrs wha; she's funny ^_^
hi dnut - thx!!
btw it does not look like the aritchokes are coming back from last year. i've decided that i will put mine in pots this year as they are perennials and supposed to bear fruit the second year.
there is no room in the garden for perennials - especially when i roto it in the fall.
O that's disappointing about the artichokes wha. Arnold and siblings will be in pots for the summer and then I plan to bury them in a dahlia patch to overwinter. Are you going to bury the pots wha?
had not thought about it - maybe put them in the shed for the winter - where i moved them last year is very wet so maybe they could not handle that - i could bury them though
That looks great wha. I like the secret sitting area behind it too.
fire pit - beer drinking
Looking great, Bill!
Karen
Bill, You could come and break my stones anytime.
today is "bed" day - that does not mean lying around all day - edging and weeding - have been putting this off - sore back today.
I'll bet your back is sore! And tired! My arms and the back of my neck hurt a bit from my foray into the gardens yesterday, but I am determined to get out at it again today, if only for an hour. Gotta keep the muscles limber.
You show such good examples of what our yard 'could' look like given some effort. I love all the nooks and crannies and the secret spots. One day. One day.
I need some dirt! LOL!
Bill - I have watched your progress for some time now. The amount of work is impressive, as is your creativity.
My eyes started rolling back in my head when I tried to imagine the weight total of all this rocking. I'm certain I am not alone in the "you've inspired me!" category.
I have to buy rocks, here. My property is on a gentle slope, so terracing is the way to go. Too much rain = erosion of the soil. I prefer it stays in its assigned place. Rocks make great sentries!
LOL -- David, does California make you audacious?
Amazing Bill. I am so impressed. How large is your property?
thx Katie and Anita - i look at the as exercise although back was sore last night - still have more edging to go today.
the property is just under 2 acres although a some of it is wet land and not much you can do with it except plant some blueberry bushes and watch out for the water snakes.
LOL, Bill!
The rhodie against the house in the upper right of the picture will be moved, and there is a lot of ivy growing there that will be removed, too.
Also today I got more work done in the Secret Garden area, as did my sister. My sister cleared out more briars and cut down a small tree. She put in log rounds for seats and put down wood chips. I did some of the wood chips, too, with Dad's help. I also dug out some small stumps, dug a hole for a rhodie I'm going to move there, and transplanted some meadow rue. And I planted my 'Miracle' heuchera. I will post pics of our progress there in my Secret Garden thread.
Karen
Great job on the path Cousin Nut!
that looks nice with the wood chips
I really like walking on bark paths. We have lots of it out here, so it is commonly used. It has a springy feel to it. Not nice on bare feet though.
Looks very nice, NutsF.D.!
I was out moving this & that, pruning & lawn-mowing today. It was 70° at 6 pm; a very pleasant outside-all-day-long spring day.
Thanks, you guys! Katye, I wish we would get to 70 here. It's been a cold spring so far. Today will be only in the 40's. I'm doing burning today and cleaning out more beds. I still have soooooo many more beds to clean out.
Karen
Don't we all, Karen! We have several beds to clear out as well. It certainly was a beautiful weekend though. I didn't get near as much done as I had wanted to get done, but I am satisfied with the slow and steady progress.
All the daylilies are up above the surface, and that makes me super happy! We spent a lot of money on those last year, and we were afraid we may have lost them to the ice storm.
Even the black-eyed susan from my buddy, Dave47, has popped up right where it was supposed to pop up.
The kiddos are out of school this week, and we will all get to work on the gardens from time to time, taking advantage of their energy. The kindergartener and the second-grader will help me plant the butterfly garden that Pixie sent us.
I have nothing more specific planned for this week. We'll just play it all by ear.
