I got.........................................

Mirpur (A.K), Pakistan(Zone 9b)

I was shifted to new home six month back in a cantonment ( Colony). It was a new home with very big yards. Colony officials manage a garden competition every year and it was my great wish to win this competition and thanks God I got first prize just in the six moth preparation . All the credit goes to Dave , who gave me a chance to communicate with other DG members and after this I am thankful of Ursula, Melissa ( Pixydish) , Arlene ( Pirl), Monica (zest ) , JenetS , Wallaby1 who always encourage me and share different tips. I am also thank of DG members ( there are so many so can't count the names) who also helped me share their plants and seeds with me and after all a day become .......... I Got this.
Once again thank you DG and thank you DG members.

All the photos are wonderful and it's great to see how the children have grown!

Your plants are all so well cared for and the Amaryllis are divine.

Debra
Nice to see you and thanks for the remarks.......... it is always great to see other DG members and their gardens.
These days weather is going to hot and hot...... in summers temperature goes up to 120F and its hard to live in such weather but my Hostas are growing great and always survive in such conditions.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

I cant imagine temps like that.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Kaleem - didn't you tell us, maybe back in 2005 or 2006, that it reached 145 degrees?

That must be intolerable.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

I like hot hot hot.. I am still cold at 80 and 85.. if there is not any humidity then I am very comfy with the heat. I hate being cold all the time! I have not ever been in temps that high, Kaleem, but I have endured 110 to 112 comfortable.
I have never grown hostas, but there is a lady down the street that grows a to of them and they are just awsome looking.. I take care of my sis in laws garden and she has hostas, they are just now coming up.. I like the design of your garden alot. My hubby says I am just hodgepodge in my design, but I go for a very wild jungle look ...He likes order, I like disorder.. ( in gardening that is) this is a full shot of my back yard last october, from behind my back garden fence..

Kaleem!

It has been years that we have communicated! Too long!

I just happened to look into "Garden talk"....No particular reason....and there you are, with all your beautiful flowers and amazing Garden. SO pretty--all of it!
Where did you get all the white rocks? It really sets everything off! Identifies every bed--my eyes just follow the rocks.....
Were they white--or did you paint them all? With what?

I am also so happy to see pictures of your family.....I still remember when your son was born! Did not know you also had a daughter.....

Congratulations on your prize! Was there any money to the prize as well or just the trophy?

Best wishes to you! Love the size of your yard as well......I am jealous....;o)

Gita, your lilacs are stunning! Much too early here for lilacs.

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

Thanks, rev...

It's an old bush and sits in too much shade from my huge Maple Tree--also has to battle the maple roots all the time for water, etc....It, pretty much, just blooms on one side--where the light is a bit better...
I have been trying to cut out some of the old canes and let newer ones come up. it's working--just slowly....
Here's another picture from last year. If I remember correctly, it is some kind of French Lilac...not a double, but pretty and fragrant.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

yup that looks like my lilac, Gita.. Love them, my old bush is really really old and big..I was able to make new ones off of it and they came up strong this year.. yay!
Still can't imagine it so hot there Kaleem, but I know it gets that way there.. still waiting for something higher than 70's here..

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

Debra--
How and from where do you take a cutting from a Lilac to root it?

I'd give it a try--as mine is pretty nice....

The one I gave to Bec was a sucker I dug up years ago....

Gita

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

I take my cuttings from the old stick with new growth and just stick the bottom into the ground.. seems all my sticks I do that with put out roots and new growth..I plant the old stick way deep to the bottom of the new growth.. hope this works for you..
