A worm's eye view of one of the daffs
Garden Photos of '09.... #12
Vinca flowers are one of my favorites!
Yay, Candyce! Nice!
Karen
They really are pretty, aren't they?! And what a nice ground cover they make.
An even closer look at the flowers....
nice daff's karen - jealous
Wow Karen!!! I wouldn't even know where to begin. Those are all great. I can tell that you and your camera are a great match for one another! I still think that those hellebores are my favorite.
Candyce, I'm so glad that you're finally getting color. That's great!
Jo Ann, i think that hellebores would be great there. I sure hope that those hostas come up looking better! lol
Better than the active kind, Karen. I have a concrete turtle who is getting lichens, so more lifelike.
RC I remember your words of encouragment when you sent the plants."Even though they die back to the ground, dont worry.they'll come up next year, big and strong"
I just didnt want the Hellebores to be shaded out by the Blue Angels.
I Love that little squirrel, and it blends so beautifully. Great daffs and orchids, too. I'm still anxiously waiting for more signs of spring around here, other than Roscoe shedding.
Yep, I remember that JoAnn, and I do think that it's still true. I don't think that they'll shade out the hellebores any time soon since they're a recent division and it's hard to shade out a hellbore anyhow. I think my hellebores are in more shade than what you have there and they do just fine

Great pics Karen, thanks for sharing. I love those Hellebores!
Love the hue. Looks like an old-fashioned portrait.
Looks wonderful - like the sunshine would look IF the clouds weren't hogging sky-space.
Thanks Candye and Kayte!
Karen
please - more sunny photos.....we're in grey mode here for the next few days.
Yeah, we need some sunshine!!!!
Given a little sunshine, my crocus will open.
Luvly daffs Cousin Nut. Candyce that crocus looks like its going to be a beauty. I think the striped ones are my favs. The honeybees were out buzzing me today saying 'Where's the flowerzzzzz?' No crocii buds yet though.
Good mornin RC
If shade is what they need I'll consider more Hellebores then.I do love them and that area is easy to dig.
Its layers of mulch and pine needles, perfect for my Rhodies.
Good Morning JoAnn! And yep, they'd definitely love that scenario. They go well together. Hellebores can tolerate some sun, but it's not their ideal scenario.
Karen, great hellebore picks taken at sunset
Beautiful pics - I didn't know forsythia came in white? How exciting is that!? I'm always torn about cutting my daffs for vases. I love looking at them in the garden. Maybe I need to create more drifts of them....
