This is a clematis that got planted last year. I can't believe how ambitious the new growth is.

A plant I know nothing about, but I like it's spring color. Red tipped Photinia

Great photos, all! Hopefully I can get some new ones tomorrow. What clem is that, Weeze? Great growth.

Jersey Shore, NJ(Zone 7a)

It's Felicity, or Felicia Celeste. Not sure which. Every morning I get up and look out the kitchen window to see if the buds survived the cold nights. So far, so good.
Big Brown did show up...my first hellebore, amongst other things.

Very nice hellebore. Big Brown is UPS to me!

I think it's White Swan Victor, but I'll go check the tag.

Squirrels been moving the bulbs in the lawn again. I know I planted these minature 'Topolino' daffodils all facing the same way . . .^_^

'Felicity' seems to be a very pretty soft pink.
I planted 'Stellar Acclaim" and 'Flamingo' as both are hardy for my area.

Got a bag of "southwestern" color hyacinth on sale at Lowes in late Nov of 2007. Nice the first year but disheveled this:

That's my experience with some, David. Still smells nice!

DP, your daffs look like they're deeply engrossed in conversation.
Good Luck with your Magnolias Celeste. They're so pretty, I hope yours made it through this cold winter.

Victor, the clem is Pamela, not White Swan.

Clinton, CT(Zone 6b)

victor....the re-runs look similiar to some pricey-even-on-sale "multi-flowering" hyacinths I put in last fall. At least so far. I thought "multi-flowering" meant several stems. Guess not.

Venu...that's what I thought too. Here is one getting tired of the conversation:

DyanesGarden.....Forsythia with Tenby is a great combo! Why didn't I think of that? Do have a forsythia not far from where I put the Tenby's.

Next year for sure..

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Dear Dyane, I think you and I have very similar taste! lol 'Persian Pearl' is one of my favorites and i've been eyeing 'Gypsy Queen' for a year or 2 now. Did you purchase the "City of Haarlem' to go with it? This is the set I keep looking at.....

You are all pretty farther along than my gardens---only tulip foliage, & a few daffs & hyacinths out---no magnolia yet, but the one on town property downtown is showing some pink. I think I will have more daffs blooming this Spring than last, & David, I found crocus in the lawn---guess the chippies moved mine.

Port Washington, NY(Zone 7a)

David_Paul, I planted those last year without giving it much thought. It actually makes the Forsythia look brighter. Give it a try.

Celeste, I love 'Persian Pearl'. The color is so rich, it's tricky to capture on film. I have 'City of Haarlem' planted about two feet away from 'Gypsy Queen' but it hasn't bloomed yet. Hopefully they will open at the same time so I can get a picture of them together for you.

Chionodoxa "Pink Giant" below. Blue looks better in the lawn. The pink is washed out from a distance and the leaves of "Pink Giant" distract from the blooms.

Wow, such great pictures from everyone today. I couldn't possibly name all of my favorites!! But, I'm glad that things are showing up for most everyone now, or at least close!

Dyane, I too have eyed Hyacinth gypsy queen for a long time. Yours really makes me think that I need to find a way to make it work (so that the gophers dont get it). I did find a way to detour whatever creature has been digging up my plants on a regular basis for the last two months. I've ended up having to build, potentially painful, little fortresses, around every single new plant. Sure wish that I could just get rid of the digger, it would be a lot easier!

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Hi RC
Do you think its a woodchuck?
or do they eat what they dig.
Sounds like squirrls.
Many of the bulbs I planted have migrated over the winter.
I am finding squirril digs next to yulips that are about to put up a stem.Roots are all thet keep the plants in the ground.

southern willamette , OR(Zone 7a)

ummm.... a woodchuck sightings in this are few and far between as the terrain is not favorable to them here. But, I do think that it is certainly something like that in size and nature, it could even be a relative creature to a woodchuck. It could even be a raccoon, but the raccoons that manage to steal the cat food an't do it without me hearing them, I've never seen or heard the creature, just it's effects. However, that's not to say that it's not a different raccoon than the noisy ones in back. It definitely does 90% of it's digging at night. It's not heavy enough to leave tracks in the dirt, but it's big enough to move a small (gallon size) rootball. It does leave the occasional print in the clay, but all I ever get is tiny partials because it messes them up with its. digging.
So, I'm open for Ideas as of how to deter the stupid thing. so far I'v tried: deer spray, these pellets for detering squirrels and rabbits, cayenne (heavy doses too - ground was red!), chili powder, some combination of hot sauce and lemon juice, and it seems as though there was something else that I tried that I don't remember.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

I never thought about a rcoon.
Thats got to be a decent size creature to move a gl size root.
Would skunks do something like that?
They have catlike foot prints.
Maybe its a pair who work as a team.
Stealing cat food is rcoon, I used to feed a stray in our neighborhood until I realized it was a rcoon.= or two.
They arent cute to me. Noisey and messy thats what they are.

Long Island, NY(Zone 6b)

Such amazing pics everyone. Isn't spring wonderful?

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Its so nice to be able to go outside with just a light jacket.
It must be officially spring as I have swiched to my "summer white" shoes.

southern willamette , OR(Zone 7a)

It could definitely be a raccoon, but it's definitely much more stealthy than the ones in back! And to put up with that much hot pepper!!! A skunk is a possibility. I sure hope that's not the case though. UGH.....
