Sky is turning blue, nope, not an April Fools joke..truly is...

How many of you have been caught today with a prankster????

Moved us over from here...

http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/968007/

Would suggest if you dropped in prior to reading the last few posts to go and check out the beautiful flowers and of course the quilts...

Always something happening.....

No pranksters here Betty! How about you?

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Julie-you may think this sounds stupid, but worry about fixing what you perceive is wrong with you-the relationship will either fall apart, or continue, then you can work on that-and either way it was meant to be so....as you realize, people too often loose themselves in the relationship, which does no one any good. I agree that you need to be 2 halves of a whole, however if you don't know who you are, then you aren't even a 1/2...does that make any sense??

Betty-here is a pic of the little one I did which has the feeder in it....

I love Journee's name, too! Our oldest daughter is named Destiny, so when Mike and I got back together 13 years ago, we had another little girl. We named her Journee because we thought our family was complete. Little did we know that God had two boys for us later on! The youngest of our last three children is named Trais (for the third child in three years; if he had been a girl, we would have named him Trinity). Altogether, we have 7 children (4 together, 1 from my first marriage (Colt), and he has 2 from a previous marriage).

Yes, I do believe that Mike and I need some alone time. I told him last night that I was so used to being mom and wife that I've forgotten how to be a woman. He agreed with me that I needed to do some things for me. Wow! We actually communicated without arguing.

I fixed the squabble between my students. Easy- just told them to behave or off to the office! I teach many computer classes - Computer Applications, Desktop Publishing, Web Page Design, and three different Programming languages. I love it because my classes change every 9 weeks, so it keeps things interesting.

I want to go back to school and take some newer programming languages and a graphics design class. The only drawback is the school having the money to buy newer resources like software, textbooks, etc. I am trying to keep my students up to par with the local community colleges and the state universities, but we are slowly falling behind again.

None, however this morning on my way in on the newscast it was saying that earth hour last week had low numbers in Barrie who did without lighting,so today from 6pm until 10pm there would be no hydro...didn't fall for it though, we pay for power used, earth hour is a volunteer action, so didn't catch me... apparently though the hydro commission received zillions of calls, angry people because of the hours of no hydro...

LeeAnn was just telling me her mom has Wii Fitness and I guess just like other computerized systems it updates itself..anyway, she got on for her morning routine and the warning block came up said something was wrong with the Wii so she got off like it told her to then back on, again it said to get off and slightly tap it, which she did, after 4 different directives it came on screen...NOTHING wrong with the Wii..April Fools...who would have thought it..lol

I did however anticipate a call from one of my boys saying I couldn't have their boys next week for holidays, seemed the logical April Fools joke, but no call yet...

Greg called me last night to say he had been in bed all day..coming down with something..he works too many hours AND hours he doesn't work he's busy snowmobiling, hockey, skiing etc. getting older, will have to watch himself...

Fairy1004, you make perfect sense. I can't be a good wife or mother until I learn to be happy. Does that make sense?
love, julie

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

OH Betty......you have put in a full day before I get up!! Looking at my computer you were up and posting half an hour after I got to bed!!

Beautiful Quilt Stacey!!

I love that Bird Feeder......Sage would get a big kick out of that...I may try and find one for her birtday later this month.....

Continued prayers for Shane's recovery.

KFC sounded good.....I need to go see what I can find for lunch.

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Julie-you need to feel complete in order to have enough of you to share with others-makes perfect sense-I am going through that now...

Victoria Harbour, ON

LOL Trisha, no wonder I'm in bed by 7pm most nights..I've reversed part of my days...

Why don't you cut one out for her, could ship the pattern asap if you'd like...maybe do the project with her...

Imparting knowledge to young ones must be fulfilling in itself..our schools are also taking the brunt of economy woes..lots of fund raising going on...

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Laura I completely understand the issues. If you do need my help just let me know. Unfortunately I'm just a secretary right now and because of the economy can't get promoted but after it gets better I should be able to, so I'm loosing everything I learned 3 years ago, makes me want to cry.

Nice pics and quilts. I didn't know that sewing machines also embroidered now! hhhmmmmmmmm makes me think lol!

Well I'm attempting to work today, but that's not working very well at all. It's nice outside, like 70 degrees today.

I have a stack of filing to do, I don't feel like filing but I guess I will lol! Can't do any work until I get someone's computer info, so pptttthhhh.

Luv U All!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Don't you think our thoughts are that others need more than we...and Stacey you are right, you have to be happy with yourself..that's the ultimate, all else will come into the plan once you've achieved that..

Think the largest thing about losing a husband is we don't know how to be an individual, with likes and dislikes..we've always kept their interest above our own, then all of a sudden there we are! It's in some way like being reborn, what to do with ourselves, how to entertain ourselves, how to be in a crowd when you don't have that 2nd person, your whole with you...

Many women get into the next relationship because they just don't take time to learn about themselves..even now after all these years, I prefer to give than to receive..seems to make me whole... but I do from time to time say 'it's all about ME' and I enjoy it..the do what I want, come and go when I want, eat when I want..these things that I was so terrified of facing now are enjoyable...

Maybe it's time Julie to say 'It's all about ME/Me/me...

Victoria Harbour, ON

Crissy, seems as though many individuals will have to put their careers on hold until the economy picks up...just feels nice to have a job doesn't it? Oh my, 70 degrees, will you be able to stay outside for awhile tonight and play 'gardening'...

Not the warmest out there but it does seem as though the wind has died down, think I might burn leaves..I'll have the energy providing I don't go inside...drats the matches are inside..lol

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

I hope so Betty! I don't know if my legs can handle it though, they're very sore from last Sunday, I worked like a mad dog last Sunday. Oh poo!! Dave wants to plant some things along the fence today and I forgot to show him where I have seeds already planted. Hope he's too tired to bother today, he'll dig up my seeds, and that flowerbed was supposed to be mine! (speaking of sharing with husbands lol)

Ocean Springs, MS

I'm saying it. "Maybe it's time Julie to say 'It's all about ME/Me/me..."

Victoria Harbour, ON

Good for you Julie! Didn't finish my preaching..was going to add, once you know that you can continue in or start a relationship because you know how capable and able you are to survive without a man..nice to have one, but knowing you are not beholding is half the battle I think..

Crissy it's nice that Dave is interested in gardening...oh well, you'll just have all kinds of 'surprise' things growing if he's mixed up the seeds...

Must tell you and NO it's not an April Fools joke..

We used to go to Boston almost every long weekend for years to visit with friends..this one year we took extended holiday and was gone for over a week..

At that time we lived next door to Roger's mom and dad..they had a rooming house and often they sat on the front verandah..looking over to our yard, just before going we had worked the entire 20 x 20 front lawn area and were seeded..

We were home a few weeks, all sitting on our deck, they on theirs, gabbing away, and something looked odd..said to Roger, 'isn't it strange that the grass is growing in rows?'...he looked and yes, very distinct rows, here these brats had worked the soil and planted a garden..one thing for sure, it came up in straight rows..lol

Just got a call from Aline and then Darlene...

Aline's husband dropped in this afternoon and took apart the old door frame for the closet and is making a door, made to order for it..said it should be done by the weekend...then the girls had their painting day, said they liked the clean cupboard but couldn't find anything...

Then Darlene called, left me ravioli for supper and said Kyle and 2 friends had been at the house eating their lunch..said it was an odd combination..both the other boys are heavy in GOTH while Kyle is straight laced almost army material..yet they've all remained friends...

So, without my being home, sure did have a lot going on..lol

LAURA, Zhinu posted on the previous thread...

Tubby, I had a big bucket tip over and end up by the fence, but of the stuff I’m personally responsible for that’s all that moved.

We had snow again this morning, I really wish the spring fae (fairies) would get around and start working. It’s way too late in the year for snow here, and I want at least one 70+ day! Even though this year will probably be like last year and as soon as we get nice weather everything will bloom at once and I’ll be down with allergies.

Laura, glad you’re doing better! That’s kind of scary; but more or less the reason I’ve stayed away from the flu shots. It really depends on the person and job, so I’m not telling anyone not to get immunization shots, but I do think we over immunize.

Betty, well on top of the shingles, my neighbor in the other half of the Duplex had a hard sided kiddy pool (as opposed to the ones you blow up) in the backyard. I’m not sure exactly how it got there, might be the reason we lost shingles, but it ended up against the trees in the front yard, diagonally across the house from where it had been.

The house is old and well broken in, I prefer that over a pristine Barbie house like the one I lived in last, but they do seem to be keen on keeping up the structure, even if they let the cosmetics slide.

He might be more interested in following up on the leak due to the fact that he had to replace the floor in much of the bathroom after we moved in due to moisture getting into the floor boards, but I can’t imagine he knew about that before the walk through or it would have been fixed earlier.

Victoria Harbour, ON

Laura, a good landlord is worth their weight in gold...you wouldn't want to be having to chase him around town to get things fixed...

I'm with you, love the older homes, sometimes I think you can feel the presence of those who lived in the house before we...they did not tell me when I bought this house that a young woman commited suicide because her hubby had left her desolate...must told you she's a friendly soul because I've had nothing but good happen to me here, kindness of many...she watches over me I think!

Allergies, you can't win can you Laura..don't know which is worse..at least in allergy season the children can play outside and entertain themselves...

The girls who painted didn't say anything about Cathy being here again today, she did, left me 9 piles of leaves..

I would say with what I did Sunday and she did yesterday and today I've about 3/4 of the backyard done...still the side and front but that will come...

Can't very well leave the leaves laying on the ground so burn them I must..

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
Victoria Harbour, ON

OH/OH think I'm smoking out the neighbors..wet leaves from early morning rain...best I wait a few more days to finish burning.. got about 1/2 done...

Thought I'd show you how far I got today with my basecoating, now comes the fun painting....doesn't look as though I got a lot accomplished on it, but lordy worked most of the day...

Tired tonight, was up early, kept myself busy, will have my bath, make sure the fire is out, not much to tidy up and then to bed I go...

Already have a heating blanket on the floor next to my bed, covered with a soft afghan for Sailor..she's hurting tonight..gave her a doggy painkiller when I got in tonight ..hope she lays on it and it helps her...

If I don't get back tonight, enjoy your evening (for some of you it's mid afternoon, other, already sleeping..me I'll be back if the good Lord is willing....

night/night...

Oopps before I go, not like you Tubby to not post at least one joke for us..you ok????

Good night Betty, sleep well...

We ahve a Bike club meeting to night so I will probably be too late for most of you...

Betty, beautiful chairs!

Laura, try some Zicam Allergy Nose Spray. I was using Rhinocort, Clarinex, and OTC meds to fight my allergies. Stopped all of that because it was expensive and wasn't working. Tried the Zicam and is doing great. At least it is worth a try!

Mary, I do teach teens- 9th to 12th grade. Believe it or not, I love it. i couldn't imagine doing anything else!

Going to watch TV and relax. Went to visit my daddy today (cemetery) because his birthday is tomorrow. I left him a beautiful frog plaque and a ribbon the said Fully Rely on God (first letter in each word spells "Frog"). I think he's looking down and liking it. I miss him so much. Hard to believe this is the 5th birthday I've spent without him.

love and good night to all, julie

Hi there ya all..Darn I missed Betty..Oh well she will see this in the morning.

Computer froze up had to call Dell. They cleared all..Had to reload everything.Sheeeeees

And install reverse osmosis system under sink..Hate working under there,so tight..

Now a funny..SAFE

A man is dining in a fancy restaurant and there is a gorgeous redhead sitting at the next table. He has been checking her out since he sat down, but lacks the nerve to talk with her.

Suddenly she sneezes, and her glass eye comes flying out of its socket toward the man. He reflexively reaches out, grabs it out of the air, and hands it back.

'Oh my, I am so sorry,' the woman says as she pops her eye back in place.

'Let me buy your dinner to make it up to you,' she says.

They enjoy a wonderful dinner
together, and afterwards they go to the theater followed by drinks. They talk, they laugh, she shares her deepest dreams and he shares his. She listens.

After paying for everything, she asks him if he would like to come to her place for a nightcap and stay for breakfast. They had a wonderful, wonderful time.

The next morning, she cooks a gourmet meal with all the trimmings. The guy is amazed. Everything had been SO incredible! 'You know,' he said, 'you are the perfect woman. Are you this nice to every guy you meet?'

'No,' she replies. .

Wait for it. . .

It's coming. . .

The suspense is killing you, isn't it?

She says :
'You just happened to catch my eye.'

TUBBY!!!!! Since you weren't on much this morning...I figured you were going to play an April Fools joke on everyone!

Hello To All;
Betty - glad you got your yard cleared! Can it really be 70 degree's that quick? Maybe so, when I lived in Chicago for a few months a million years ago....I was so young & naive...just out of college.....saw snow and got a sunburn all in the same month. Is that what it's like?

Julie - You really seem to enjoy your job and that's more than I can say for mine! I have read about a deal where for $300....business people can take a course and teach school (if they have a degree). Believe me - after this week - I'm really considering it ! My thoughts are that if you can teach, in a sense, you live forever. (Through your students).

Don't we all still remember the teachers that really influenced us? I know I do.

Big weekend....DS takes ACT Saturday morning. Prom (DS and DD1) Saturday night.

Have to pick up DS Tux tomorrow. Then (sun permitting) DS Tennis match.

Supposed to rain all week and not a drop...they even predicted massive Thunderstorms last 2 days, cancelled DS Tues tennis match, and it was SUNNY!

Perhaps it's because of this new obsession with gardening that I have that I am finally really noticing the weather.

Hugs to all - heading to disboards.com - back in a flash!

Mary, where can we get that info ....... Laura has the degree and if we could find a way for her to teach !!!

Where am I right now.......

Hello my Friend Trisha! That picture has been ME several times this week! LOVE it! Just sent to several co-workers....

Hang on - I'll look on the EBRPSS website for the info.....

Calvert City, KY(Zone 7a)

I think that might not be in all states, but it is in states that need teachers in specific areas.

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

I loved that picture....that site has sooo many fun pictures....I keep a collection of them.....and addiction started by Synda.....

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

I know someone mentioned this to Laura a while back but they didn't really know where to get any information..........

Baton Rouge, LA

Here's the blurb off the East Baton Rouge Parish School System Website....I would think they are doing this in several communities.....if they are doing it here...possibly where you are....unless Laura wants to move....and if so - Baton Rouge is doing really well in this economy......but if not - maybe you can find out if they are doing this in Washington...

All of our community's students can succeed academically - but our schools must be staffed and led by our most talented minds and our most accomplished citizens. To this end, Teach Baton Rouge, an alternative certification program in EBR Parish, is calling on our community's professionals and leaders to commit to teach full-time in our highest-need schools.

The experience, energy, and commitment of these professionals can help ensure that all of our students excel academically. In addition, these professionals form a powerful network of leaders that are working to improve public education.

Teach Baton Rouge provides rigorous and experiential training for program members, supports them throughout their first year of teaching, and assists them as they pursue alternative certification. When nearly one-third of our second graders read below grade level and one in four eighth graders fail to meet state standards, our community leaders must take action to ensure that all of our students receive a quality education.

Are you ready to make a difference?

Hello Sharran!

Headed to disboards.com....back in a bit....

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

I think it is a great idea, if they aren't doing it here they should be!

Calvert City, KY(Zone 7a)

It is a great idea, and has been very successful where it has been done.

Trouble is, they won't do it unless they have a shortage of teachers.

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

I don't know about a shortage of teachers, but we sure seem to have a shortage of Good Ones...

Baton Rouge, LA

Hey Sharran & Trisha - Two of my Favorite ladies...I might add!

We do have a shortage of teachers here. Our Principal was in the news for a "unique" visit
to the Phillipines to find teachers to recruit. DD2 has one of those teachers and I find that he doesn't seem to be able to control the classroom.

I've met with the Principal and he's mentioned a shortage of Math Teachers...

I'm a bit torn. It would be a trade off of income vs. "Greater Meaning of LIfe". I might need to pay off the mortgage first...which will take about 8 years.

(By the way - Sharran - we earned about $1134 with the Jambalaya Fundraiser last Saturday for the Band! Band Booster meeting next Tuesday)

Hugs,
Mary
