Going pretty good ,was going to try and get a few things planted out today ,but momma called and want to go get groceries,so planting can wait. But when I got there to get her she handed me an anniversary card with a check in for $65 and then when we were checking out at the grocery store she paid for all my groceries.Don't know what mine alone came to but the entire bill was $174 something. My momma is the best ever, that's why I'd never dream of ever denying her anything.

Truthfully I wish there was a way I could give her my heart so she could be all better.I call her the istant my eyes open in the morning before I even get out of bed,and then I'll call another 20 times a day to just say what are you doing.I just have to check all the time to make sure she is alright. And she knows she'd better answer that phone or I'm on the road headed to her house.
Happy Anniversary! Mom's can be that way can't they...I have a pretty good one myself.
I am so ready for warm weather.....they are saying Snow down to as low as 500-700 ft. tomorrow.....I doubt we will get more than maybe some flakes mixed with rain...but more cold:(
Well guess it is about time to call it a night....Sage is over for the night and she will be up bright and early....
Stay Safe, Stay Warm.....talk to you tomorrow..........
You to stay warm and safe Sweetie ,and thanks,Night
I know what you mean.....I'm lucky, Mom lives in the other half of our duplex.....first thing she does is open the front blinds or I will be in to find out what's wrong....
Night.
MORNING!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lots of sewing to do today!!
No way I'm reading that right!!
Good morning ladies! Breakfast bar laid out. Coffee, biscuits, ham, sausage patties, pancake, syrups, wheat toasts and to make yourself regular.. oatmeal :D
Am I reading it right, Stacey? Lots of sewing to do? I can't believe you are finally finding the joy of sewing!!! Yeah!! Each seam you have to rip, is a step towards perfection. Let's hope you don't rip much! So.. what are you sewing today?
Synda, Trisha and you ladies with mothers still alive, indeed you are blessed. I still miss my mother's voice... Just the thought that I can't grab the phone just to call her, will get me teary eyed.
Morning All,
Boy I guess getting all that sunshine and fresh air the last couple of days did me good. I just got up about 1/2 hour ago. Rick and his best buddy went fishing this am. They don't see each other as often as they used too. I've got the house to myself and I plan on doing some sewing on Barbie clothes. I need to get them done befor I go to Oregon the end of June, because I will get back just a day or two before my grandaughter'sa b-day party.
Morning Ladies.
Mike is off this morning to the Coast Guard Axillary to take the PWC course so he can drive the jet skis when it warms up.... he's so excited.
Cody... it's funny... I bought 5 $30 Encore Azaleas in 3gal pots. A few years ago... then the next year Lowe's was having a tent sale and bought 20 $1 tiny Azaleas in 1 gal pots. My Encores look awful... the tiny ones have tripled in size in 2 years, and loaded in blooms every year since I planted them... they've out performed the Encores by a long shot. So, I'll never buy the expensive ones again... congrats on your $2.25 plants...
Didn't freeze here last night... only got to 38*... so far, so good.
Gotta go get Don's lunch packed and get him off to work... BBL
morning all! just found my way outta the kitchen...spring cleaning project...after only 3 days!!! Hope all is safe from bad weather! Fairy, you sew too? and knit/crochet? Wow!!! You too, Heaven?
Managed to get out in the front yard ysterday, weather was so nice...just for a little cleanup. Now I be's all achky. Rain today, so gota wait to finish. me thinks I will just lounge around today with a cuppa!
Morning everyone. Jaye, thanks for the breakfast!
Sounds like everyone is off and running for the day?
Have a good one, and don't work too hard.
For those of you that have not posted your likes and dislike, please do so here, so it wil help us all for the swaps!
Thanks

Hi LK! Thanks for reminding us to update our likes and dislikes. A good tool there and I certainly refer to it when getting a swap buddy her gifts. Don't want to send something she wouldn't like.
BJ, I too pay a fortune for some plants when they first appear on the market. Unless it's really a MUST have, now, I wait a couple years. And you're right, the price doesn't necessarily reflect the quality ;)
Was just looking around the yard, and there are still spaces to be filled.. nope.. not getting anymore that had to be 'babied'.. just the hardies and got to be cheap.. unless they're camellias..
Yikes.. there I go!!
He he he.. spring cleaning Jax? Or cleaning the liquor cabinets!!
Sorting out fabrics here and waiting on Kel for that Saturday afternoon shopping.
Jaye... what is it you'd like to have for those empty spots? Maybe some of have something you'd like? I have a couple of Red Hybiscus I rooted in the fall... they're small, but they're yours if you want them.
This summer I'll be rooting some off the Pink and the Yellow/Peach Hybiscus... if you can wait.
I also bought the expensive Wave Petunias last year... I thought, yea, they're more expensive, but fuller so I won't need as many... that's how I justified the price... WRONG... they just didn't do well at all... lost all the purple ones, and only got one pink one to live... and it didn't really start doing well until late summer/early fall... then it was too late... not this year... I'm seeding all my annuals. We'll see what happens.
I'm so sorry, Trisha... I got to reading and then forgot to mention that I LOVE your mushroom man... too cute !!!
I haven't even touched my clay in a while.
Ooh BJ... I spent a fortune on those drasted Wave Petunias. Placed those baskets alongside the cheaper petunias.. the cheaper ones survive the harsh sun!!
I do have the old time red hibiscus. They are hardy. I'll wait till summer, BJ.. thankee much!!
We talked of not clearing the rest of the property. Got enough garden area.
And if we leave them as woods , the possums and what's left of the deer will still have a home. With all the land being cleared around here, the wild ones are foraging for food in the neighbourhood.
A thousand apologies too Trisha!!!
I too love your mushroom man! Is it easy to do.. don't answer.. I just got to do it!! Already thinking of a more bulbous nose and a little worm on it!
YW, Jaye.. the pink one isn't a true pink.. it's more of a deep peachy color... I'm sure it has a name, but until it blooms this year, I can't match it to anything... it has a tag, but I am not going down there to look at it right now... it's cold outside. I'll put your name on some of the cuttings. The yellow/peach one is smaller than the others, and I don't know why... maybe it's just the nature of it's type... but I really want cuttings from it this year.
I've also been reading up on how to root some other things I have growing here... and plan on getting some starts of them this summer too. Plumbago for one... I made the mistake of cutting it back last year, cause I thought all those stems were dead... WRONG again... so, it didn't perform well this year... won't do that again.
BJ, I don't sweat over names. Unless they're brugs cause brug enthusiasts can be quite peculiar!! Being there are 3 colors with brugs.. so, with all the crossings and over-crossings.. names are needed not to confuse them :D
O and I should get into the hibiscus co-op, especially if they're from DuPont. But.. they're hybrids, and I don't think they'll make it here, unless I overwinter them. Got enough tropicals to haul around! That's why I like the old fashion ones.. so hardy.
And, as for seeds.. I fried dem seedlings!!
Synda's right.. don't miss the joke competition. Got a couple of good ones there. LK, we're waiting on you!

Off for our Saturday jaunts.. see me later!
oh, and veggie bed is now all planted in irises.
pool fence bed - got this one weeded late last fall, guess the weed seed had a chance....
behind the irises, in that area that looks freer of weeds, are mulched Japanese irises, foxgloves, a bronze foliage canna that's really growing well, and that's a New Dawn climbing rose in the photo. there's also a species iris back there, a "roof" iris, several daylilies, and an edible ginger (got to move that)
Look close in the photo, you'll see vincas blooming, coming under the fence. I think the Stutgartt canna is also coming through, too. There's a 4' tall gardenia on the house end of the bed where it gets some shade.

the only bed of irises I mulch are the reblooming ones. these are planted with a peony in the middle, there's some baby mums in there that will show up later, and shorter floribunda roses, and variegated liriope along the street edge. in the bottom corner of the photo, you can see some of the dwarf irises. I keep cutting that holly back, but it must be sending roots into the iris bed, because all of a sudden it's happier than it's ever been!
found out this month I can use Preen in the irises as long as I don't Preen immediately around them. YAHOO!
afternoon girls just poppin in to say HI
am going through a bunch of envelopes I saved seed in from last year trying to plan on what to put where and what to try starting again since all my starts died LOL
Did I see someone say weeding??? Sure come on down and help me ..hahahaha
I'm almsot afraid to pull stuff as I don't know the leaves on them very well ...all comes form moving to a new place and growing things I never could or tried before so they get to stay until they bloom or don't bloom then get pulled LOL
well back to my seeds and getting them organized I can hear DH when he comes in the door and see all the packets on the counter LOL
Afternoon everyone. Looks like your all still so busy. Love the photos! All the yards are loking really nice!
Phyllis sorry you lost your seedlings, but sounds like you have more than enough to try again.
Trisha, that mushroom is so cute.
BJ, how do you start the hibiscus? From Cuttings? Do they root easy?
Does anyone have any coleus or pansy seeds? I think I am going to put them on the new angel garden for ground cover. Will they be Ok, to grow together?
Back outside for more raking and cleaning!
LK
LK... it gets too hot down there for pansies in the summer... I'd try another cover... coleus is a good idea, and you can save cuttings each year for the next year's plantings...
Hybiscus is fairly easy... take semi hard wood cuttings, use rooting hormone, stick them in potting soil. I took 5 cuttings last fall, only because I had a wild branch and it needed to go to shape the bush... 2 of them didn't root at all... and one of them died about a cou[;e weeks ago, after I set it out on the sun deck to start hardening it off... I think a bug got on it... but the other 2 look healthy and happy.
I Want Warm Weather!!!!!! Cold front coming through....at least the snow won't get down to our level.......only 200 feet above us:( Just cold rain down here.....still need hip waders to get outside................ sheeesh...just looked out the window and there are snowflakes in hte rain!!
Thanks on the mushrooms....they are easy and fun.....Sage came in last night and asked me to make a very small one for her. When I asked why, she said because her plant was very small.....love that kid. I was so glad to get the idea for those from Stacey.....I am always collecting ideas for things to make.....
BJ, thanks for the hibiscus instructions. I have never tried to take cuttings from them. I have about 3 right now, and am waiting on 3 more from the co ops to arrive. Now I just need to make more room in the garden! But they would be pretty among the angel trumpets too I bet? I love pansies, but your probably right. I don't see them here too much! So maybe I will go with the coleus, it comes in so many colors, that would brighten that are up for sure!
Trisha, you keep us posted on those cute little mushrooms and fairies you are making.
LK
Good afternoon! It's colder than a witches tit out there! It was snowing just west of us but it has fizzled. They had a tornado warning last night there, don't know if it touched down, that's right in the middle of the Ouachita National Forest and very hilly about an hour due west of me.
I went out the other day and took some pictures of what's coming up in my beds, but I can't find my camera :( I have to find my camera! My Iris are blooming and I want to share!
Nice pics! Cindy I love fish, I'll bait the hook, catch it, clean it, then eat it! Nice campground, I'll be there in a few hours lol!
Well, Dave went back to sleep and I need to go to the store, out in the cold. bbl.
Crissy... go find that camera... I want to see your yard.
LK... this was my first time to try to root the hibiscus too.. but I do want more, and it's just cheaper to take from what I have... like I said before... that dang walk ate up my whole budget.
I"m back inside, rain chased me out of weeding. [let's face it, anything could chase me out of weeding....] something got under the edge of my glove and bit me. stang like crazy. sitting here with baking soda paste on it.
oh I forgot! bj, took this photo just for you. y'all can NEVER show anyone ever. but I'm showing it to my sistahs because bj needs to feel better about her sun porch.
this is my "gotta find a place for it somewhere" line. some things have been in it 4 years. lets see, there's daylilies, azaleas, a jane magnolia, a redtwig dogwood, a slew of hostas, a rhody, dwarf irises, cannas, peonies, coral bells...
Bonnie An old dr once told me that if you ever get stung and especially if you are allergic to put vicks on it because that will stop the poison from moving through the body.
And as far as your "gotta find a place for it somewhere" ,I have just the place ....HA HA HA and my hubby has a brand new shovel.....No hints here....LOL.I'm just that kinda person that love to help people when they have no ideas.......LOL.......Love Ya!!!!!!
synda, I've never met a plant I didn't want to adopt, but I'm always WAY ahead of my hole digger!
Thanks BJ.
Trisha,love your mushroom man.
Late afternoon all! Pleeze some one send me a pontoon boat!! Rains continuing coming down--mostly heavy! Shouldn't complain as we really needed it but the ground is beginning to get soggy again.
Trisha, Love the mushroom man--so cute. Kim is starting to play around with the polymer clay now--mostly interested in making bead but who knows with her.
Interesting comment about the Encore azaleas. I bought and put in 7 3 gallon size plants last year. look good but no blooms. There were 19.99 when I bought mine but I really did expect blooms before this. Now I don't know if I am happy with them or not. Also my fringe tree hasn't bloomed yet and my next door neighbor's is loaded. Maybe I have one with delayed hormones. Who knows. Was planning to get my ferns in the ground but guess that will have to wait til the first part of the week and the rains stop. My Abutilons (sp) are growing full strength ahead. Apparently the cold weather has no effect on them what so every. Looks like they will need larger pots before much longer.
Anyone with passion flowers? Do I need to cut them back--look really bad from the last freeze--actually new meaning to the word bad.
Yikes, bad lightening started. I am out of here!
Bonnie,pretty flower gardens.
