Stop and visit, talk all you want. Pt. 31

(Zone 7a)

Yes, me, too. Will you send me that pic again? I lost it on the other phone.

(Zone 7a)

Oh! And Monty is going in to be shaved today. Here's a "before" pic...

Celia, that is one of the lamiums that I have too. I also have the one with the silver leaves.

Bummer on the phone. Hope you get that fixed.

I went and bought me a climbing rose today. I have no idea since I can't plant it this year but I got the idea I need to get a vine and better yet a rose. I got Climbing Queen Elizabeth. It only has buds and no flowers so I have no idea how good the fragrance is. If it's not up to par I'm taking it back and getting another one from somewhere else. I got a good deal though. $20 for a rose that is 6 ft tall and trying to find something to climb on after that. lol.

Bureau County, IL(Zone 5a)

Oh my! I'm watching HGTV, House Hunters. These people just bought a mobile home somewhere near saltwater. For $520,000! I haven't been paying enough attention to know if they actually buy the land, but I have to think not. Speaking of water, Bull Shoals Lake in AR is about to flood. I was talking to my dad and his other line rang so I sat on hold. When he came back, he said it was Gail, the woman of a couple that live in front of my parents up here and fell in love when mom and dad took them down with them so they bought their own place. The docks anyway are going up and the road is about to go under the water. Same thing it did last year. Been trying to find a picture (for a long time, almost an hour?) on line to no avail, so I give. ah well.

Spotted nettle, heard of, but I'm not real familiar with it. I also can't help in the cell phone (I think you're talking about since it cost so much). I only have a tracfone, pay as I go. I talk too much to have anything like a cell. Hence our home phone has unlimited calling, local and long distance.

pepper, not sure if you have a front porch that requires stairs, but that's where my grandma always had her climbing roses. Front and back. She cut up old panty hose...lol

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

LOL Terry, my grandmother used to use old pantyhose for everything. I had forgotten all about that until just now! Great memories you brought back for me, thank you!

Celia I'll be happy to send you that pic again tomorrow, my phone died so it's on the charger and my mom should be calling here in a few minutes lol.

I don't shave Tiga, even with all her fur she still tries to find the warmest places. She's a little weird.

KC Metro area, MO(Zone 6a)

I did kill a jasmine on the north side of the deck so I might be able to put it there. It has thorns which will probably get the cats so I think I will leave it in the pot for now and transplant a clematis to the deck. The stump it's on is gonna be burned down and the whole bed turned into part of the driveway. Lots of plants to move from there.

My new rose.

I didn't get on again last night. I had to rescue one of my brothers. His car key wouldn't turn in the ignition.

But here is Monty!

Um, you shave a cat? Why?

The funniest thing I can ever remember is when I got to grandma's for a visit. I walked in the door and got my usual "There's my girl!!!" Didn't take long and grandma says "say Terry, can you walk out back and see how my naked lady is?" I almost fell on my face. THEN she says, "oh, and my Peony too!". Then, and only then, did I know I was looking for a plant! I was outside, in her garden all the time with her and I never heard her say a thing about a naked lady. It was old though. A neighbor gave it to her when they moved in, sometime in the 40's. One bulb grew into 13 when I dug them up sometime about 2000. They were selling her house, since she was in a nursing home and wouldn't be back. I have to change the story, or I'm going to start crying.

pep, that is one nice looking rose! Big, looks healthy. You need to get it into the ground so the roots can do what they need to do and support all that top growth.

KC Metro area, MO(Zone 6a)

It will go in the ground if I get another obelisk for it and my dad lets me take down that bush that takes up too much room. LOL. Otherwise it will have to wait. My mom wants me to get another obelisk but I don't know where I could put it so I'm holding off. Plus I need the money for my truck since it's acting up. It will get in the ground eventually but it might be fall.

Bureau County, IL(Zone 5a)

I'd let ya have one of mine, but well, I love 'em and they aren't going anywhere! LOL

(Zone 7a)

Terry, Monty gets horrible mats in his fur in the summer if he isn't shaved. He's much cooler and he likes it. If we don't, he looks like a stray that wandered in and he spends the whole summer and fall in the basement on the only bit of concrete. Isis got her turn today. She went in like she'd been doing it her whole life the lady said. Isis hissed a couple of times and then settled down and let them do their business.

Jennifer Beal, eat your heart out!

Tiga's getting mats on her chest, I need to brush her, she Loves being brushed. When we sweep the floor we have to put her in another room or she'll chase the broom around wanting to be brushed by it, it's hilarious!

So Luke here at work got the pictures off my memory card!!!! I'm putting them on my thumb drive and taking them home so I can put them in Picasa, then I'll post a link on a new thread so all can see!

(Zone 7a)

Yea! I can't wait. That's too funny about Tiga and the broom!

Both kitties LOVE the brush! LOL Isis LOVES the vacuum. Monty thinks it the devils' machine and won't come near it.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

LOL Tiga used to stand in front of it and hiss at it, now she just tries her best to ignore it.

KC Metro area, MO(Zone 6a)

Both Curly and Whiskers love to be brushed but both hate the vacumn. They hate the sound of the air coming thru.

Great pictures!!! I loved the trip with you! Thanks! I loved the little turtle that followed you out.

(BTW, the plant you don't know? It's Love-Lies-Bleeding.)

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

I'm looking that one up!

So me and Dave went to our late friend Chris's benefit dinner yesterday afternoon, omg that family is still going through hell. Apparently one of his 4 sisters went into the hospital right after he passed away with a staph infection. That was 3 weeks ago and she's still in the hospital. I met his dad and 2 more of his sisters, I already knew one, and you can see the pain on his dad's face from loosing his wife and 3 weeks later his only son. Then the whole family ran out of the building as fast as they could. I started asking questions, and it turns out that one sister in the hospital went into cardiac arrest. They got her revived and in ICU, but it has completely shut down her kidneys. I don't know if that family could make it through another passing, I know dad would have a very hard time of it. That is one of the most functional families I have ever met and my heart aches for them.

(Zone 7a)

Oh, how aweful, Crissy! Makes me sick to think they could lose another family member.

In 2 days mom will have been gone 1 year. It's hard to imagine that but it's true.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Ha! It's proven, she can't be nice, not even for a half a day. We've been nice all day and got to talking about someone's new last name and I said, basically trying to figure it out for myself, "So the maiden name goes last, so my name is Christine Ramsey Whitney." She snapped, "Really??? I would have never known if you hadn't told me!" I flipped her off behind her back, stupid *^*(&^

I got a box from someone through the mail and it's opened sitting on my desk.

(Zone 7a)

Who's the box from and is it ticking?

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

LOL It was a zip disk for some data my co-worker needed. It said, "ATTN LISA" right on it in big black letters, don't know why she put it on my desk. Oh yea! I know, so she wouldn't have to walk to her office to give it to her, but she gets mad if someone picks up the phone other than her because "it's her job" Eye yey yey.

(Zone 7a)

Sounds like her. LOL

Bureau County, IL(Zone 5a)

Krista hasn't been sharing her laptop. What a meanie. Of course then I found out that she had been booted off the wireless internet connection.

Krista talked me into going into this shop for her and I both to get a haircut. I received the worst haircut I've ever gotten in my life. I don't think any 2 hairs are the same length. ugh She used a razor on my hair. You can't use a razor on my hair, I told her. She didn't listen. I tell you. I should have walked out with half a haircut. But then again, I had paid for it upfront. Do they still sell those vacuum hair cutters? I need one of those....;)

My dog is afraid of the vacuum. She hates and won't be brushed, she's "combed". To cut her toe nails, I have to let her sniff the clippers first, same with the comb. She is one weird dog and I'd be happy to drop her off any where you need me to. Darn, on the laptop I don't see how to do smilies. I don't like this thing. Getting used to it more or less (less), but can't wait to get my computer back. Our neighbors have a yorkie and they get him shaved. He looks so goofy being shaved. I don't know. Some dogs just can be groomed and others look dumb.

The "cooler" aspect regarding hair vs. no hair I was told by 2 vets, was that it's nothing but a myth. I know that a shaved dog can be sunburned. I've seen one. That was really bad. I felt sick for the dog. Which reminds me, ever seen a shaven German Shepherd? We had a family at the end of our block where we lived before. They had a Shepherd that resided outside and every year like clock work, they had that dog shaved. Silliest looking thing I ever did see. Sorriest dog too. It was outside, in a cage. Never out of that cage. That we saw anyway.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

LOL Terry, vacuum hair cutters. Someone needs to go back to beauty college, you're not supposed to cut hair with a razor, that's what they make scissors for! My Goodness.

Terry I'm glad you're back girl, you're cracking me up! Sad for the Shepherd, those are really good dogs.

Well, Dave got moved to swing shift, starting Monday. That's good because he will be able to be in the land of the living again. Bad because when I get up for work, he'll be asleep. When he gets up, I'll be at work. When I get home from work, he'll be at work. When he gets home from work, I'll be asleep. He looses some of the overtime and shift differential too. LOL he said that we're going to have to curtail some of our spending, which we need to anyway, then he starts talking about how he's going to join a gym and do all of these other things, huh?

(Zone 7a)

That sucks about both you and Terry. Kicked off the wireless and never seeing Dave again.

Terry, I would have walked out. Most times those people think THEY'RE in charge. WRONG!!! I pay you. The Flowbee! Yeah! I've seen some really awful cuts on dogs. Makes you wonder what up in some peoples brains. Monty is definitely cooler. We never saw him in the summer. He was always on the concrete in the utility room. Now he's up with us.

I got a lot of grass pulled out of the bed between the roses today. I got my new gaillardia 'Fanfare' put in there. I'll get a pic tomorrow. Also, the rambler rose gets these really long stems that don't flower. I got those cut out, too.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Man! I had to water last night, it rained everywhere but at my house. Then after I watered everything, it rained! Now imagine that!

I'll see Dave on the weekends, we'll be alright, gotta roll with the punches. I think of it has him climbing the ladder, and I have a strong feeling that he won't be on swing very long and he'll be moved to days. Just my gut talking again!

So I slept with my contacts on last night. The dr told me I could but I shouldn't because I'm not used to wearing them, I thought that I'm not going to get used to wearing them if I don't wear them! I'll wear them today, tonight, tomorrow, then I'll take them out and Saturday I'm going to spend the day learning how to put them in! If I took them out now I know I will never be able to get them back in for work, I need a place where I can take my time and not worry about time.

(Zone 7a)

Good luck with that. lol How did the sleeping with them go?

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

It went fine, I was questioning them at first but when I woke up when the alarm went off this morning and I could see, I figured it all must be ok. They do get cloudy and blurry, the doc said that's just part of getting used to them. They're not bothering me near as bad. Yay!!

(Zone 7a)

Glad to hear that! Yea for you! LOL

I got pics of the front yard today. Here's the new gaillardia.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Celia you have a pretty yard.

(Zone 7a)

Thanks. There is still sos much to do. All that grass that got into the beds last year still needs to come out.

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

I hate pulling grass and weeds, the worst part about gardening, probably because it can be tedious and I'm not a tedious person.

(Zone 7a)

LOL That's therapy for me. It's quiet and soothing, and I'm think I'm "improving" my environment. Sometimes , I'm sad there aren't weeds to pull in winter. I know, I know...sick, sick girl...

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Total opposite. I sit there and think of all the plants I could be planting, or any other thing I could be doing, if I wasn't pulling weeds. I don't have any patience and it takes patience to dig weeds.

(Zone 7a)

LOL Yes, lots of patience.

KC Metro area, MO(Zone 6a)

Your plants look good!!! I just planted several planters today. Will try to get some pics tomorrow when I get home. Tomorrow night I might be able to get my rose planted. Gonna put my seedlings on the outside of the obelisk and the rose on the inside and twine it around. I talked my dad into helping me. LOL

(Zone 7a)

Woo hoo!!! Yea, Dad! LOL

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

Nothing like help from Dad!
