OMG... I can't remember when I've ever been bored... there's just way too many things to do.
I think that's why my mom taught us kids to do crafty things... she never heard us say "I'm bored" like some kids do.

Kim, your new home is to die for!!!! Love it, love it, love it!!! All that space.. plus plenty of garden play area.
And as for you Cindy.. shame on you! Rick should be enough!!! Bad, bad Cindy!
Waiting on recipe there Susan. Actually, cooking is very therapeutic too. When I miss my long distance family, and if I can't get them on the phone, I'll whip up something remembered from home.
Trisha, thanks for telling us about Cathy. She has so much on her plate, but I know her faith will carry her through. Please tell her that we send her nothing but positive thoughts, and hope her recuperation period is shorter, and easy.
Hiya sweet Deborah. What sewing project is keeping you busy?
Haven't heard from Judy and Maid M.. bet their sewing machines are humming.
Debra, if you're lurking.. hope you're taking time to eat.. between your busy schedules!!
Would be nice to hear another sistah.. like Crissy or Synda.. venturing into sewing too!!! (Crossing fingers)
Stacey, what measurements? I've never done a rag quilt... ask away, one of us might have the right answers :D
Hi Gail.. if I'm right, you're the AV expert? Welcome, and drop in anytime. Tell us more about yourself too.
Boredom? What's that? Even in doing nothing, I'm never bored. Got a fertile imagination! Think my parents were cut from the same cloth as Trisha's and BJ's. At an early age, we were encouraged to craft, sew or have books forced upon us!
BJ... here's wishing for a good trip for you, Mike and Don. Take pictures of the Alamo will ya?
Personal note here:
I want to commend LK for taking care of her father so well. She doesn't put him in a corner... but bring him out on weekends for trips and restaurant feasts. Your dad is so lucky!!
But not all children nowadays will take upon themselves to take care, moreover, bring in an aging parent.
What you're doing I wish many more would emulate. Bravo, sistah LK.
I'm off to bed, dear ladies... see you all tomorrow!
BJ - girl, those are great "bones" for your gardens. It so changes the look of everything, pulls everything together. The levels in the secret garden, great way to handle that slope. might have to steal that idea....
I can't find the sedums! Took them out when I got home, set them on the basin counter in the bath. I rewet the paper the next two days, took them to the kitchen to pot, got distracted. just realized, they disappeared before I potted them. haven't a clue. humph might have to send you a hosta in trade for some more, BJ.
Enjoy San An. That Mike is a gem. I'm going to be curious how his life turns out. He's a go getter.
Stacy - BJ and I talked. She doesn't like the sword foliage. I don't like aril iris. I just don't like them. we have a lot in common. LOL
Susan, sounds like gooooood food, I want to eat at your house.
welcome gessiegail
been trying all day to figure out where I'm going to plant this Jane Magnolia I've had in a pot for four years. it's probably got big roots down into the ground where its under a tree. but it needs sun. I reviewed the iris beds in the rain, too WHOO HOO - doesn't look like I've lost but one this winter in the "expensive" iris beds, and all in the rebloomer bed are showing green, too. got several with lots of strong increase.
Three solid days of rain. Another predicted for us again tomorrow, Jaye. you are right, this is Laura's weather.
If I get this right, when I usually sew, I put the right sides of the fabric together, which places the selvages "under" the seam and on the inside of the garment. When I want to make a rag quilt, I put the wrong sides of the fabric together? so the selvages end up on top of the seam, on the outside instead of the inside. is that what you meant by "sew backwards"?
That is what I meant! It is easy to do, once you get the hang of sewing things backwards, from what we normally sew.
Good night everyone. Jaye, thanks for the kudos. It is not an easy task, taking care of a handicap, aging parent!
I am off to bed. Dr.'s appointment in the morning for Dad, then we are off to meet BJ, and Mike in San Antonio!!!
LK
Evening all and good night to some
I've been in and out and not spent as much time as I had hoped in here with y'all
I did get the birdhouses DH made for me to use as trades for the RU in may done and started painting on some ceramics that have been sitting in the back room since last year so I might get those done in the next month or so ...LOL

LK
Well... I crashed, and had to reboot... and now I'm shutting down for a few days. I won't be on in the morning, and won't be back until probably Wednesday...
I'm sure LK will let you know I made it to San Antonio alright.
Thanks Bonnie... we'll see how that front looks in a month after I have time to spend some time on it.
I'll send you some more of that sedum when I get back... plants disappear like that, they really do... I understand.
Ya'll have fun now... see ya in a few days.
Have a good trip BJ, be safe.
Good night everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Night Cody!
Morning All. i think. sorry to report no sleep again last night. and I even took a tylenol pm, which used to put me under the table for 12 hours straight. now it won't put me to sleep at all.
Randall is stirring. He can put his head on the pillow and be out like a light. Today is Ruth's B'Day. now she is up. outside is wet wet, he's going to drive her to the bus stop so she can stay dry. Tonight she's asked to go to the Olive Garden for dinner. I'm going to call my doc and request a physical be scheduled, see if there's something wrong here.
wish I'd had some sleep. think I'll try again to sleep. I'd put the coffee on, but .... I'll put out half and half and some nummy cappacino mix instead and y'all can help yourselves.
Bon, so sorry to hear your not sleeping. Sometimes our bodies get used to the sleeping pills. Maybe try a different brand, and if you still have allergies, maybe a benadryl will do the trick, I know they make me drowsy.
Thanks for the cappacino, and BIG Happy Birthday to Ruth! How old is she?
I will be back later, Going to see BJ tonight! I will post pictures of Cedric later.
LK

For all of you who need prayers, I'm praying for you all, and wish you good health and happiness!
Morning Joyce, how's the pond coming along?
Well the baord says my liscense if transferable.. Even better she is from Lancaster and says there are NO good barbers so I will be welcomed with opne arms.. Thats great news even if i have to return for a few hours I can handle that.. Whew i was worried she woul dsay a year of school to transfer it.. One more weight lifeted.. She is sending the paperwork now so I can get started..
See Donna, the good Lord was looking out for you and your family. He knew that you needed this move. You sound so happy right now. How is your friend doing on the house hunting for you?

LK
Good Morning Ladies!!
LOL Jaye, I am embroidering butterflies on pillowcases but I am not a sewer, I'll do crafts before I'll sew something, like a quilt. Just not into it.
Morning All,
Kimmy you house is beautiful... I am so happy for you... Do any of you want the recipe for dinner yesterday?
Hugs,
Susan

LK

Ruth Jean, named after both grandmas, is 17!
Joycet
That is going to be alot of Digging But it will be great in the long run good luck I hope you have a bob cat it will take forever to do it buy hand
Joyce that pond is going to be so nice! Lots of work too! Don't over do it!
Ok it is called Beef and Tomato Gratin
12 ounce lean ground beef
1 large onion, finely chopped
1 tsp dried mixed herbs
1 tbsp all purpose flour
1 1/4 cups beef stock
1 tbsp tomato paste
2 large tomatoes, thinly sliced
4 medium zucchini, thinly slice
2 tbsp cornstarch
1 1/4 cups skim milk
2/3 cup low fat unsweetened yogurt
1 medium egg yolk
4 tbsp Parmesan cheese
salt and pepper
Step 1
Preheat the overn to 375. In a large pan, dry-fry the beef and onion for 4-5 minutes until browned
Step 2
Stir in the herbs, flour, stock, and tomato paste, and season. Bring to a boil and simmer for 30 minutes until thickened.
Step 3
Transfer the beef mixture to an oven proof gratin dish. Cover with a layer of sliced tomatoes and than add a layer of sliced zucchini. Set aside until required.
Step 4
Blend the cornstarch with a little milk in a small bowl. Pour the remaining milk into a saucepan and bring to a boil. Add the cornstarch mixture and cook, stirring for 1-2 minutes, until thickened. Remove from the heat and beat in the yogurt and egg yolk. season with salt and pepper to taste.
Step 5
Place the sidh on the cookie sheet. Spread the white sauce over the layer of zucchini and sprinkle with grated Parmesan. Bake in the oven for 25-30 minutes, until golden brown. Serve with lots of fresh crusty bread and steamed vegetables.
Ok now I found that 4 medium zucchini were way to much... I also found that where it said in step 4. after the milk boils and you have to add in the yogurt and egg yolk I did not beat it with a mixer but the next time I will.. Mine came out not as soild as it showed in the picture and I say it was from me not beating the mixture with a beater and I used a fork... It also took longer to cook then 30 mins.... All I can say is we all liked it even the way it came out and my youngest son who is almost 22 said this was a keeper... We really liked it... I hope you do also... This is from a Healthy Cooking book... Also I could not find low fat unsweetened yogurt.. I found low fat yogurt....
I hope you all like it and let me know how it turned out for you.... Use an oval dish to cook with. I have a new scanner and I don't know how to use yet or I would send pictures...
Hugs,
Susan
I am also going to try a Broiled Rice and Tuna Bell Peppers... When I make it I will let you all know... I am a big cooker but I get tired of cooking the same stuff...
Hugs,
Susan
That sounds yummy. Think I'll wait for some better tomatoes to make it. The ones in the grocery are pink...yuk.
We have a Kubota, so digging the pond won't be hard. I'll define the shape by hand, but that's not hard either once the big stuff is gone!
We're having some rain here today. But tomorrow is supposed to be 71* and pretty. Can't wait!
The store tomatoes were looking yucky but when they were cooked they tasted really good...
Hugs,
Susan
Susan, do you think if you put a whole pound of gr. beef in it, it would be too much?
Yes, because I used more in mine.... I used a little over a pound... Also it says to cut the tomatoes thin and I cut them thin and it was just to thin... It was good...LOL I used one of those slicers that you slide the veggie across and it cuts and goes to the bottom/under the slicer... Mine is more then likely 45 years old and my brother got it for my mom and it was 75 cents I believe....LOLOL
Hugs,
Susan
Did you use skim milk? How would it differ if I used 2%?
OMG I called the bank and I am for sure Approved just have to have money in bank 3 days before close. I am waiting for stock market to go high for a few days before I sell I still have the Roth IRA that is doing well'
