Woo Hoo... Me first..
I get first go at Jaye's bowl of chowder...

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

We were late getting home, and my stomach wasn't a happy camper. Think I caught a virus, or either a case of food poisoning.
Hope it goes away soon.

So, excuse me sistahs.. gonna return to the recliner. Looks like the bed will be a stranger to me, tonight.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

BJ, you are welcome to the chowder. That's what Kel had tonight, and I should be having that instead of chilli :(

(Actually he had potato soup, in a bread bowl.. close enough..)

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

What new news on the iris scam Bonnie?

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Well... it's after 11 o'clock here... and I'm up all by myself.
Poor Mike is bored silly... Sat night, no school tomorrow... and he went to bed at 9. Guess he played all the computer games he could stand today... couldn't find a movie in our stash he liked to watch... did find a movie on TV to watch this evening... was too cold and damp outside to get out there and do anything...
We did go to Walmart today.. whoopie.. and I did take him to Pizza Hut... whoopie...

The workers came back today to finish my wall, and the walkway... but they were still working on it when we left, and it was dark when we got back... will get pictures tomorrow... I haven't seen it either yet in the day light.

Tomorrow it's suppose to be warmer, so maybe we can get out and do a few things outside.

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Awww... Jaye... NOT AGAIN !!!... quit doing that.

Hi Bonnie !!!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

You can repeat that BJ!! I can't go on thinking that my stomach is lined with steel!!!!

His parents won't be going to church tomorrow, for fear it might be a tad chilly for his dad. Normally, if his dad won't go, his mum will and Kel had to babysit his dad... we don't go to church in the mornings anymore due to this idiotic arrangement..long story... and we attend different churches.

A-n-y-w-a-y.... being that the weather is supposed to be nasty, and if I'm feeling up to it.... our plans for tomorrow will be getting some bags of soil... cut up some materials.. and maybe cook a pot of oxtail soup. Got some in town this afternoon at a Meat Market in MB.

Hope you're able to keep to your plans tomorrow/today, BJ.

Waving Hi to Tina in MB! Glad to see you posting!

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Hope you get to feeling better by tomorrow, Jaye.

I'm going to lay down and watch some TV until Don gets home...
See ya tomorry.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Sleep tight BJ!

Danville, VA(Zone 7a)

well, DG admin went to town, Jaye, and within hours the offending website of the vendor went from many pages of photos (stolen) to 3 photos. WTG Terry

He didn't take down the named iris we know he doesn't have in enough quantity to sell. Schreiners did not wholesale that iris it's intro year. it should sell for $40 to $50. He has it at $11.95.

I looked at the listings. most were older irises priced too high. But this was a brand new one, Aegean Wind, priced extremely low, below the price of some older ones. I didn't see any other bargains, though I barely looked. why this one? Any seller can discount stock to unload. He could be doing that. Still...

My concern is, this is an easily mimicked iris. there are many others of similar coloring. A common technique of the unscrupulous is to pull together any iris of similar coloring and sell all at the cost and under the name of the hottest selling iris that color. The AIS discourages this tactic, as it damages the industry as a whole. the first thing my iris friends taught me is not to buy from big box discount stores, because it is still done. His looks too similar, therefore I am concerned.

Cody sweetie... sleep well! Love you much! Did wait till noon for you to call.. :(

Bonnie, unfortunately just like in any businesses, there are also unscrupulous nursery men.
Luckily, because of DG and other gardening sites, many customers now are more informed not to be duped by these questionable discounts. Yep, when I see a certain plant that normally fetched high prices and then say like on eBay, was offered half the price.. I'd certainly question the authenticity of the plant.

Think my stomach finally settled. Will try to get some zzzzzzs.
See you all later!

Jaye, sorry i didn't call,my cousin came down this morning.I will call tomorrow i will.I love you very much too.I hope you get a good night sleep.Glad you are feeling a little better.Well good night and sweet dreams.

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Good evening all.....I just spent a great deal of time typing a post here when my screen went blank and I had to re-boot so forgive me for cross posting what I posted on Best and Worse...don't have the energy to retype all again.

What a day...They have always had the show in nicer places in the past...this year is a combination of an old brick hanger building (the Park used to be Sand Point Naval Air Station) then they set up some really fancy tents...either way it was very cold, last night and the early part of today were very rainy and all the water ran under the tent so the floors of the booths were cold and wet...they need to change locations if they want a bunch of people returning next year...or at least improve the facilities.

I let my DH talk bicycles and bike rides, I cleared off the end of the table and played with my clay...as much as you can with frozen fingers...I had a big chunk of flesh colored clay that I needed to condition...it was very dry and crumbly so I was mixing it with translucent which was very soft. DH decided he has a lot more hand strength than I do, and he needed something to do with his hands so he worked this big ball of clay for me for several hours!! Made both of us happy!

The only enjoyable part of the day was when we left...it was starting to rain and about a mile+ back to the car, we are dragging the computer, thermos, bike frame, reading material and other stuff. We step outside the door and here is a young man with a Pedicab...asked if we would like a free ride back to our car!! I could have given him a big kiss, but gave him a nice big tip instead...he put a really nice touch on a really miserable day!!

Got back to town and decided this would be a good time to use the gift certificate a customer gave Bill to Anthony's Hearthfire Grill, one of the nicest places in town! It is right on the bay and we manged to get a window table over the water...the food was excellent too...so the day wasn't a total loss!

Jaye and Susan....((((Hugs)))) to you both..... and yes Jaye, you need to stop doing this sistah!!

BJ, can't wait to see pictures of what your guys got done today!!!

Think I am going to call it a night.....and sleep in in the morning....it is cold, and a possibility of snow, I did my time today....no bike ride for me tomorrow!

Raleigh, NC

I'm mosying on to bed, too. finally.

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Morning sistahs !!!

Just having coffee, haven't even been outside this morning yet to see the work done yesterday... but I had to check in here while I'm waking up.

I have to say this, Donna... just like Kim's mom... your mom is just concerned about the unknown for her children. I do the same thing to my kids, and have explained to them that it's my job... it's what we do. She'll be ok, and will accept everything as soon as she knows you're ok in the new life you'll be building there.

Jaye... you ok this morning?

I'm off to get dressed and go explore the work done, and assess the work that I have to do to complete the new landscape. Think I'll get Mike busy today with a few things to fight his boredom.

AND, I have to get our things together today for our trip... Tomorrow Mike and I are headed to San Antonio to see the Alamo, and Mike wants to see the River Walk (he looked it up on the internet)... and to meet LK for dinner. Then, on Tuesday we'll go visit the State Capitol, then drive home Tues night, maybe... unless we find something else to do.
Wed, if it's not too cold, we'll get out on the jet skis. And on Thurs, we're going to meet Don as he gets off the plane and go to the King Tut exhibit in Dallas, and the Pres Kennedy exhibit at a different Museum. Friday, we rest. And, that will be Mike's exciting Spring Break in the USA.

Franklin, OH(Zone 6a)

Oh, BJ, I think that sounds like a great Spring Break! I want to see the River Walk myself!!! :O)

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Well, Joyce... I hope he doesn't feel cheated out of a spring break like some of his class mates are getting from their host families. There were about 20 students from his school in Vienna that traveled here together ... he keeps in contact with them through email and MSN chat. Some of them are going places like Cancun, and snow skiing to New Mexico, and stuff like that...
We just can't do things like that right now.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone. A bunch of you were up late last night!
Bj, I am so anxiously waiting to see you again, and Mike too!
We are all waiting to see your new walk way, and new yard work!

Jaye, I hope yout tummy is feeling better today. You gotta watch what your eating!

Today will be an easy day. it rained here last night, and everything got a really nice soaking, so I hope my garden will take off really good.
Todd got my new garden area, pretty much done, so I am waiting for a load of top soil to arrive in a few days. Then I can get all my angel trumpets settled in thier new home!

Later

LK

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I don't think it would be safe for him to go to Mexico, too many warnings in the news telling college students to go somewhere else! All that drug war stuff is getting pretty bad!

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Oh, LK... that's extraordinary... I know you're gonna love that to dig in.

Can't wait to see you again too.

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

I am going to put most of my Angel trumpets inthere, but I am going to try and place some dahlias along the back fence line, and fill it in with some zinnias, and other ground cover in. So if anyone has any ideas, please let me know. It is in full sun.
Lots of work to do!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Good morning!!
Slept well, stomach's okay.. head is screwed tight... but throat's sore!
Kel said I snored..

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Morning,

LK, love your flower bed. How big is it? You can go to BHG.com, there is a place where you can design your garden. I worked for an hour designing mine, saved but it disappeared so now I have to start all over :(

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Had to hit send fast before that disappeared, like my two others. Must be my server.

Donna, tell your mum you're not going overseas.
My mum almost had a heart attack when I told her I'm moving to the USA.
Had to reassure her that I can take care of myself in any situations, yes, I had to lie to her that there is a Singapore Embassy in every state (sorry Lord), and that I'll make sure I will keep with me some emergency money for a return air fare...
Leaving mothers behind are never easy.

LK, I can't wait to see what has become of your beds, once flowers start blooming.. I haven't even started making beds yet, maybe next week. But for sure, I'd have to start bringing in some wheat bales for my veges.

Here's something that might help you LK. http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/gardening/top10/6237039.html

(Phyllis) Flint,, TX(Zone 7b)

Hey Linda make sure BJ doesn't forget your bird bath ya know she wants to keep it ...hahahahaha

Cordele, GA(Zone 8a)

Why is Kathy so quiet? Hurricane Pam must be keeping her busy!

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Afternoon ladies!!!

Glad you are better Tante!!

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

I need some opinions please/ When we redo our dining room we are going to do a chair rail and the bottom half bead board with ecru color on that and the walls (the top half will be a khaki color) and I want to redo the chair cushions to be in different shades of browns....

so I found this material:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=310126212922

And then I found this material to go in my B & W quilt-I wanted some grays in it
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=310128223963

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Sounds like a plan LK... and a lovely one.

Ok, here's the finished hardscape of the new look... I really have my work cut out for me.

I've labeled them with A,B,C... The walk has extended bed A and B... and created bed C which wasn't a bed before. I'm going to take up the liriope in bed A and redistribute it around somewhere else.

Thumbnail by bjwilson
Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

AND bed D was extended too... the monkey grass there is where the end of the bed used to be... I'll be taking that up, and redistributing it to line all the beds across the front of the house.
