Thanks for the pics, we need to see more from the beautiful state. I know there are some nice gardens out there. Hec, how else would all the garden centers stay in business.
My husband grew up in Mellville. His family is still there, but he moved up to Berlin when he was around 30. We got married 6 years ago and now reside in Williamstown/ Monroe Twp/ cecil...lol
I moved from Deleware with my job at the time, and stayed and bought a house.
Antone else in NJ
Flower jen, I would love to have that big yard, it is beautiful.
You should try some nice flowering trees and shrubs. Things that are easy to take care of.
big beautiful FLAT yard I might add
:)
Yes - amazing how level it is. I'd love a blank slate like that!
me too!
I like a bit of grade change (nothing like your Alps, Allison!), but you can create that with berms.

:)
I love the pictures. I wish I had a big blank space like that. My mind just races with ideas. I'm not a fan of grass but yours looks great!
Weeze, I love your sitting area. Nice and relaxing.
I've asked my dad about Fairweather and he couldn't figure out where it is. He knows Greenwich very well (his parents lived there once). I told him that they aren't open to the public often. If anyone knows what road they're on, can they d-mail me? Dad was puzzled that there was a nursery that he'd never heard of before.
Yes, when I visit Jersey I'm guaranteed to gain 5 pounds just in Tastykakes. Dad used to mail me "care packages" of them.
my sister lives in Cleveland... we always go out there with coolers packed with stuff
Onewish, Your yard is wonderfull. You have done so much work. I wish my hubby was into it like me but it is not the case. I am left on my own to do the work. But that is ok , I just cant do a lot of heavy work and that is where he come in when I can get him....lol.
Venue, your yard remind's me of mine small ,quiet, and cozy. I have one problem in my back yard. That area in which I was standing to take that first pic. That area floods when we get a lot of constant hard rain. SO I have a difficult time finding plants that can withstand being under water or water logged for a few days. Then it gets dry in summer. Here is a pic of where I was standing to take that picture during one of those floods.
Velnita, Fairweather is on Sheppard's Mill Road, right off Ye Greate Street in Greenwich.
wow that's a lot of water
Well its either dive down or float away...lol
One time before we knew that the went down, we were out there searching all over looking for fish swimming around in the yard...lol
The bends?
Hey Nick ......... Jersey guy here from Pequannock in Morris County.
hello Jersey Guy
:)
Hey ho, jersey guy, NJJPL. Welcome
Hi and welcome jersey guy!
Bump. Just saw this thread. Hello, NJ people! I'm from Bordentown. And Peanut Butter Kandy Kakes may be my absolute favorite food.
When is the weather station going to stop predicting cold nights? I'm running out of fluorescent light room inside! When is our real frost free date? A couple of weeks from now?
Hi Nisis! I don't have the answers for you, as a mater of fact, I have the same questions!
Yeah, I'd like to put my seedlings out in the greenhouse but I don't dare yet! Bad, bad weather station!
I put my Columbines, Jacob's Ladder, and Euphorbia out in my unheated utility room. They've done fine, but the more tender stuff is still inside waiting, growing, waiting. It will take me a day just to unravel the MGs.
I know, Jeff scraped ice off the windshield on Wed. We just had a full moon - is that the indicator of last frost somehow? Sure hope so.
LOL, Weeze, you had me picturing you trying to unravel those MGs.
Just got back from Rarefind Nursery in Jackson, NJ. Second time visiting, what a great place, with a great gardening staff. Hope some of you get to visit the place.
My favorite place!! Are you going to do a return visit in about 6 weeks to catch it in full bloom?
That's a great idea...........it all depends on how my own planting/clean-up/mulching progresses. I got the Rhodie on the cover of this year's catalog. What a beauty!
frost dates here

Thanks Jen! Funny how Newark and Cape May are almost the same.
I noticed that, too. I'm not sure where I'd fall in all that; we're on a tidal river, which keeps us cooler in the spring and warmer in the fall. But the weather station is predicting 25 degrees for our area Sunday night, so go figure!
I have a weather application on my desktop and I have it set for Port Elizabeth, New Lisbon and Sea Isle City; it's interesting to see the differences between those locations. Right now the forecast is pretty much the same for all of them over the next week, but at other times New Lisbon tends to be colder and Sea Isle a little warmer.
Good luck with the freezing weather GGal. They're predicting 37 here. I'm hoping that is the last temps under 40 I'll see until November.
That's interesting - only 37? The prediction for Sunday night in Sea Isle is 25!
I was going to put out some annual flower seeds, but I decided to wait until after this next period of cold nights was over. My early spring veggies are doing well in the garden, though.
I put out 2 columbine seedlings yesterday. If they make it through Sunday night the rest will get planted out. The cold temps here usually stay a little higher due to proximity to the coast.
