Antone else in NJ

Plainfield, NJ(Zone 6b)

Hi,
I just wondered how many others on this forum are in New Jersey. I joined about a month ago and guessed this was the "right" forum for NJ. I looked at the member list and there are a few people very close to me. I'm in the Scotch Plains area.
Nick

Welcome Nick. Yes, there are a number of Jersey people. I'm sure they will chime in. Glad to have you aboard!

Jersey Shore, NJ(Zone 7a)

Hi Nick! I'm a Jersey girl from "down the shore" Welcome to Dave's and the NE Forum. Whether you're a brandy new or tenured gardener, you'll find a wealth of information here, as well as some comic relief!

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

Allison

Buffalo, NY(Zone 6a)

I'm just the next town over in Buffalo, but Welcome, Nick !!

Jersey Shore, NJ(Zone 7a)

Buffalo, NY(Zone 6a)

Blackberry Brandy and 7-Up ...... mmmmmmmm

Plainfield, NJ(Zone 6b)

Hi all,
Thanks for the replies. Nice to know there are quite a few NJ gardeners out there. I've been in NJ for 10 years and gardening seriously for about 7 - since I bought my house. I'm not a native, I'm originally from London, England and have bee in the US for 16 years.
Nick

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

I am sure you will find this forum helpful and friendly

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Didn't garden in England, Nick?

Plainfield, NJ(Zone 6b)

Hi Victor,
I did ome gardening in England, but - being in London - we didn't have a very big garden. Not that I have a huge garden now, but it's enough for me.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Another Jersey girl here....hubby used to work up in Plainfield.

Williamstown, NJ(Zone 6b)

You got another here on your list. I am in Williamstown NJ.
While we are talking. Do you think it will be ok to dig up the plants that I will be moving to another area now and leave them out side of ground covered up? I need to move them so I can redo that bed and add the new plants and tree's and shrubs then replant them in a different order.

Jersey Shore, NJ(Zone 7a)

Hi Marie, and welcome. If I were you I would wait just a few more days. We're supposed to get some below freezing overnight temps. If you can keep them in a sheltered location and mulch them well, they should be okay until they get to their new home. Spring is almost here!

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

Hi, Marie. I agree with Venu. I'm itching to get digging too, but I'm trying to hold off jsut a bit. Welcome.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

hello Marie

Williamstown, NJ(Zone 6b)

Ok I will wait. The new plants won't be in until after the first of april ,or when lj gets my tree's sent, anyway. I just have to remove a whole flower bed and redo it. I see so many plants sprouting up I want to get started.

Jersey Shore, NJ(Zone 7a)

It is a terrible itch, isn't it? But don't scratch just yet. lol...where is Williamstown? Or maybe I should phrase it, Are you east or west of the GSP, or are you north or south of 195? Or could it be that you are north of 195 and west of the GSP??

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

What exit?!

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

sigh

Williamstown, NJ(Zone 6b)

I am south of 95. Go down the expressway(42) toward atlantic city, go right instead of left at the Y , this is 42south , which turns into 322 or blackhorse pike. 6 miles down the Rd is Williamstown. I am another 3 miles from there. You all Got that?.....lol

Jersey Shore, NJ(Zone 7a)

Well, heck, I was down that way today. And I think yesterday I was very close to Allison. I saw a Denvillve firetruck pass me by. I was in Chester. But, anyway, Marie, give it one more week :)

Oh, and Victor, I'm exit 98, or exit 91, either way it is THE coolest

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Hubby was in Denville yesterday working.

The other day he had to go all the way down to Pennsville then all the way up to Denville.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

Chester is about 20 - 30 mins away ... wonder what they were doing all the way over there

see you guys have to say these things a head of time... lots of lunch opportunities

Williamstown, NJ(Zone 6b)

I am taking off the first week of April so I can work that bed, and rest at the same time from working that bed. I will remove and move things then.

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

OOH that is a drive from Pennsville to Denville. I'm off of Exit 1 of the NJTurnpike by the Del. Memorial Bridge.

Marie is near Glassboro.

Hi Nick, I'm from Northern NJ also. I am sure that all of Dave's will be useful to you in gardening and other things too.

Carmel, NY(Zone 6b)

Hey, Nick! Welcome!

If you go to the tabs at the top of the page, click on COMMUNITIES, then curser down to Browse by State, then click again, you will seee that there are over 5,000 (!) NJ Members. While alot of these aren't Subscribers, it's fun to browse through and see where everyone is located.

I grew up in Jersey - Hazlet, Lakewood, and Cape May (summered in Seaside Heights), then moved to California in the mid-60's. After many years of living here and there, I finally settled back in the East.

Hope you like it in the DG garden . You will meet some truly top-notch people here!

Monroe Township, NJ(Zone 7a)

Hi Nick, Welcome!

Another one to add. I'm from Monroe Township, NJ.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

oh Elsie... we can do lunch... I go to a few stops for work in Lafayette... did you go to the Sussex flower show?

Williamstown, NJ(Zone 6b)

Hey Cheryl, we are neighbors, I am also Monroe Twp.

Southern NJ, United States(Zone 7a)

I'm south of y'all ;-D , below Vineland. Just put out my onion sets yesterday and the rain probably did them some good. I need to spread some compost on my pea, spinach and lettuce rows so I can plant. I have eggplant and pepper started inside and should start my tomatoes any day now.

Nick, have you been having fun with the new varieties of veggies you've found here? I like to play with French varieties, myself! It's neat to grow something different.

By the way, a lot of New Jerseyans seem to post on the Mid-Atlantic forum, as well.

NE forum is better!!!^_^

Southern NJ, United States(Zone 7a)

And just WHY is that????

Maybe it depends on whether you're in the north or south of the state, though. I'm south of the Mason-Dixon line, were it to be extended eastwards, and my climate is probably more like Maryland and southern Delaware.

Jersey Shore, NJ(Zone 7a)

NE forum empties the wallet a lot faster too ;)

Southern NJ, United States(Zone 7a)

In what way? More luscious plants to tempt you?

Jersey Shore, NJ(Zone 7a)

You betcha GG! There are too many great photographers on the NE forum along with great suggestions that causes economic stimulus in the winter months.

Not to mention we are a great group of people. Someone has a problem with something, someone is always here to help.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

wow look at all the NJ people coming out of the wood work.... how cool
