you have an open invite Jen
Hey! Good Lookin' .......
hee hee thanks
Where did you get your grill pan, Drumlin? I'm looking for one. Today was corned beef--coleslaw & potato salad---not the traditional, but still yummy.
Just finished corned beef, and I think it overcooked in the crock pot, so I was disappointed.
I'm not crazy about corned beef.
I love corned beef, hubby doesn't.We went over fil and step mil's tonight(they watched the kiddies while we had our taxes done) they were out of corned beef at the store so they made pot roast. So now I have to see if they have any leftover at the store because I really missed having it.
I got the whole grill on Amazon last year.

It's small, but works for me. I think all the Char-Grillers have the cast iron grill.
Reminds me, I have to order new lounge chairs pretty soon. The Walmart ones rotted through after one season.
How about something hot and easy for dinner?

Thanks, Drumlin! Debi---I've overcooked lots of stuff in the crock pot! Now I use it only while I'm home, so I can check on it----I've a recipe for quick sauerbraten----last time it came out like mush!
Lets do something simple.
Sheppards Pie
This will take my DH and I two days. Once as a meal and once as a mid-day snack.
1 Medium Onion
9 Medium Potatoes
1-1/2 lb burger
1 - 8.5 oz Can Corn
1 - 15 oz Cream Style Corn
Saute onions with a splash olive oil and a pat butter till translucent set aside
Dice potatoes into 1" cubes put in a pot and set aside.
Brown buger in frying pan, drain fat add onions and a dash of garlic. Mix it up. Set aside.
Boil potatoes and mash.
In a 8" x 8" x 2" casserole dish put in the burger then plain corn and then a layer of the cream style corn. Top it with your mashed potatoes. Couple pats of butter rubbed over the top and some paparkia.
Bake in a 350 oven for 30 mins or until it starts to bubble and the top starts to turn golden.
I have always thought the burger got dried out. I tried gravy and everything. The creamed corn works great. I do 9 potatoes and always have some for leftovers. Husband likes to make tatter cakes.
Looks yummy!
One of my kids favorite's Sherrie!
when should i show up?
I only tried it for the first time a few years back and I really love it.
Sigh---out with Mom today--just bacon & eggs for dinner--wish someone would cook for me once in awhile!
Don't feel bad - I'm going the lazy way out today - 'breakfast for dinner.' Wife is away (on business) and we have to get to a scout event.
By the way, where has Willie been hiding??
I love breakfast for dinner. Did that last night. An egg frittata with bacon, asparagus and cheese. And cornbread done in a cast iron skillet of course.
I do classic mixed veggies in my shepherd's pie.
That frittata sounds yummy.
It was delish!
Sounds yummy, Jan.
lamb from trader joe's tonight - getting ready for easter :)
I love lamb...DH hates it... I had fish and perogies(sp), DH had chicken.

wife is out with her girlfriends tonight - she hates it - rack of lamb - can't wait
Tonight I was going to try pasta carbonara, but forgot I used all the eggs last night.
So I experimented
I sauteed some onion and garlic - put aside
fried up the rest of the pkg of bacon -sliced thinly
Mixed them together then added some zucchini, a little pasta water, some parmesan cheese, and since I didn't have any eggs, I added a little cream
Boiled up some pasta and tossed it into the sauce.
I mean to tell ya it was sooooo good and real easy.
ziti with ground venison tonight
Never had venison.
I was fooled into eating it my first time... told me it was beef stew... i didn't know the difference
Really! It tastes that good?
I ate the stew and after he told me I barfed in the bathroom just thinking about bambi... mind you this was at work... with 20 other guys... laughing there heads off... think i was 20 at the time
I love venison. Best chile I ever made was from a leftover venison roast!! Cooked slow in a crockpot, to die for...or marinate venison chops in Italian dressing then bar-b-qued...mmmm
Chicken n biscuits, and key lime pie tonight.
Ooh - key lime!!
Victor, I haven't come across the recipe for hot n sour soup, it's been a while since I made it.
We had venison tenderloins last year on the grill..it was one of the best steaks I've ever had. We had a whole deer now I'm down to the ground and 1 pack left of the filets. I love it, much better for you than beef.
Please come and take any near me!!
lol- there are enough down here, when the population drops I'll send my hunter friends up your way.
Deer is better for you than any cow, it has extremely lean meat. If cleaned, cut and cooked right you'll never know the difference unless someone tells you. Right Allison? lol
