that sounds good
Hey! Good Lookin' .......
It is...and I don't like Mandarin Oranges! lol
i love them
I am guessing you make the pudding before adding it... or just adding the powder for flavor?
I have a few variations of this recipe but this is the one DH likes.....
Pasta e Fagioli
1-1/4 pounds lean ground beef
3 tablespoons plus 1/2 teas olive oil
1-1/2 heaping cups chopped onion
3/4 cup chopped celery
1/2 -1 cup chopped carrots (I like alot)
3/4 of a (4.5 oz.) jar of minced garlic
1/2 teas. coarsely ground blck pepper
3-1/4 (14.5 oz) cans of beef consomme
3/8 of a (28 oz) can crushed tomatoes
3/8 (6oz) can tomatoe paste
1 teas. dried thyme
1 teas. dried basil
1 teas. dried oregano
2-1/2 teas. dried parsely
3/4 heaping cups ditalini pasta
3/4 of (15 oz.) can kidney beans drained and rinsed
1 can white bean
In large pot over medium heat cook beef until no longer pink. Drain and set aside.
In the same pot, heat the olive oil. Cook onion, celery, garlic, and bl. pepper until vegetables are tender, 10 minutes. Stir in beef consomme, crushed tomatoes and tomato paste. Season with thyme, basil, oregano and parsley. Cover and reduce heat and simmer 1 hour. (At this point you may put the pot on a back burner to keep warm and continue with the next steps about an hour proir to serving, if you wish.)
Stir in the beef and simmer 15 minutes. Stir in the pasta and cook until al dente, 8-10 minutes. Stir in the beans and heat through, approx. 10-15 minutes.
Enjoy!

No...do not make pudding! Take dry pudding, coolwhip and pineapple with juice..beat all together. Thats it!! It's very light, fruity and fluffy. lol
I like those make a head things for parties... that's a keeper too
ok thanks
I am making flan today... never tried it before... if that doesn't work out then I am making your cake.. i have all that stuff!
My DH loves Mandarin Oranges too which why I make that cake. It's the only way i'll eat M. Oranges! lol The first time I read how to make the topping I was like "What? OK...this better be good!" and it was!!!! lol
The pasta fagioli recipe looked good---not the way I make it, but I'll try it! I make mine with pancetta, carrots, celery, white beans, & ditalini---chicken broth, & white wine. Made meatloaf & potato salad today.
OMG ....I forgot the carrots! Ha! Thank you for reminding me!
Sounds yummy!
Celeste - I love Pasta Fagioli and I like the sound of your recipe! I will definitely try that!
Good news on the skinnied down pineapple cake! [Oh, and I forgot to mention that I also used fat-free milk in making the pudding part of the cake.] Tonight we had a tasting with some friends. It was very good and very light. I actually think it was better than it would have been with the heavier version. The key, I think, is to do as the recipe says in.letting it sit in the refrig. for about 24 hours before serving. It was nice and moist and cold. Celeste's pineapple cake recipe sounds good too. I think the main difference is that mine does have a pudding layer, so you make the pudding and then spread it over the cake and pineapple mixture.
Everything I've seen on this thread sounds mega-yummy. LOL
the flan turned out perfect... the only thing is for some reason 1/2 the caramel did not come out of the pan... think I should have dipped it in hot water before turning it out... my directions did not say that every one was raving over the corned beef & cabbage ... and the garlic monkey fist bread... this time I bought one of the silicone bunt pans... it turned out great... no stickage this time!!!
Yummy! Sounds like everything was good!!!
I swear the garlic monkey fist bread looked like it belonged in a magazine ... should have taken a picture
You didn't? Shame on you! lol
too many people over... I wasn't thinking about it... i made two corned beefs... there is barely enough for a couple of sandwiches left
Wow! Hungry crowd and good food!
you aren't kidding... I did the costco appetizer stuff... cheese & crackers... chips & dip
garlic monkey fist... 2 corned beefs & cabbage...
my friends brought brajole, meatballs & ravioli ..... and the one girl always makes swedish meatballs (Randy loves em)
I made home made... tapioca pudding & flan...
and another person brought the frozen cream puffs & mini eclairs
going to need a good workout tomorrow.... that's for sure
Sounds like a feast!! But did you have to mention "frozen cream puffs & mini eclairs"???? Good grief woman, i'm drooling now. Those are 2 of my favorites!
we call them crack puffs
lol
BTW...snaps,and monkey seeds germinated!
I tried the baileys ones.... no good... don't waste your money... the cream part tastes great... the outside is terrible
woo hoo!!!
Yup, VERY excited and did a happy dance.
I've wanted monkey flowers for along time, thought they'd be difficult from seed but not bad. Mostly the shade ones germinated but a few of the others too.
they aren't bad at all.... sometimes I throw seeds in my pots when I fill them... they bloom mid summer that way... not going to be as large as the ones started inside... I bet they would winter sow very nicely
I collected a ton of seed from the shade ones... don't know how they are going to turn out since they are a hybrid ... but they were there
Here's what we had for breakfast, I made these yesterday and handed them out to friends too.

Still working on dinner.
Looks yummy!!
Allison - that's quite a feast!! Sounds pretty impressive to make a caramel flan!
abby - those turnovers look wonderful! What kind are they? Oh, Yum.
Celeste - congrats on the new seedling babies! Good Mom! LOL....on that subject, my first periwinkle seedling bloom greeted me this morning at breakfast. The seed packet said 96 days to bloom, and it was exactly that number of days. Wierd!
Yum--scones! Can you make chocolate ones as well? Leftovers tonight--ugh---most of the time I just feed them to the dogs.
Congrats, Louise!
Oh, those are scones! Even better!! LOL
***passes the butter***
Burgers on the grill and mac salad for lunch. Outside all day for the past 3 days!!
Burrrrgers on the grill...mmmm. I was just thinking today how happy I was that I bought a grill last year, with a heavy cast iron grill to make those great grill lines on the burgers. A glass of wine, cheeseburgers, a little fresh salad...oh my.
Sounds yummy Allison and how come I wasn't invited???^_^
