Hey! Good Lookin' .......

2 years ago I ate a 14 lb lobster all by myself with butter and more butter :-)

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

that's impressive!

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

I watched DH do a 5 lb'er....14 has to be HUGE!!!!!!

Yes - the little shelled bugger costs 46 bucks!

Dont forget a lot of it is shell.

Thomaston, CT

Those cookies sound delish, Willie! I can't think of anything I like wrapped---if I order a wrap for lunch, I eat the inside & throw away the wrap! Oh----I do like stuffed shells if they count as "wrapped"---cheese & spinach, with fresh basil--yum.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

ooohhhh and there is a polish bakery by my dad that ROCKS... they make the best jelly crumb buns.. those little old polish ladies got it goin on... if my dad comes up here for anything (like tomato plants) I bribe him to get me some of those!

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

sherri how did you get through the shell? with an axe?

and i edit my statement above - i can eat lobster as well - wrapped in butter! once did 14 in an all you can eat joint that is now gone that was in sudbury - that included a salad and steamers for starters

It was not nutcracker. Truthfully I Cant Remember. I think DH might of opened a package of new sawsall blades. ?????

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Oh - let's not get into food smells!! Old-fashioned bakeries, Italian cheese / meat stores, etc. I had two of the best ever in Astoria. I never complained when my mom asked me to go there.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

I had a pizza place that also sold breads right out of the kitchen in the back around the corner from my house... other than grandmas flowers that was the next best smell in the late evening

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Nice. When I would wait at the subway station near Manhattan College, I would smell the Stella D'Oro plant. Real nice. You could buy a nice size bag of broken cookies for $1.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

yum... across the street from the pizza place is a home made chocolate store... WITH THE BEST candy ... my sister actually gets the stuff shipped to ohio in dry ice ... she says it's worth every penny extra to get it when we aren't meeting up to give her stuff

you have to see her list... all from different places... kielbasa, taylor ham, chocolate layer cake, bagels, pizza, the crunchy noodles from a chinese place the list goes on and on when we go out there... or when she comes here... my dad does all the running around before we see her... I even had to bring her wedding cake out there... for her second wedding.. she refused to buy one that was of lesser quality... I was driving praying I didn't get into an accident .. of course she got married on new years eve.... lots of ice... boy was i on edge that whole ride

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

OMG Allison.....a wedding cake all that way in Jan.?? Good grief woman., have you got nerves of steel?? lol

Favorite memory smell.......the field near my grandparents camp.
It smelled of wild blueberries, raspberries, apples and wildflowers all at different times, but slightly over lapping the other. It was wonderful!!!

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

for me it was my hockey equipment - with all the staff infections and rashes that you here athletes getting - for 25 years i had most of this equipment and it never had been washed - opening that hockey bag was and still is a great smell that brings back memories

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Oh man, Bill! Thankfully we can't attach smell links yet.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

i always did have room to move chasing a puck into a corner - i always thought i just got there faster than the defensemen

did i mention that i have my mothers side of the gene pool - we are considered sweaters

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Did we need to know that, Bill?^_^

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

just trying to provide a clear picture or whiff of the essence of the scent I talking about :)

ask any one who player hockey - stepping into the locker room - close to what heaven could smell like, or does heaven have the aroma's of a brewery?

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

trust me Pixie... there was no way I was going to fall asleep behind the wheel.... I was exhausted once I got there

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Spanish rice with gandules (pigeon peas) tonight. Yummy!

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Long loaf of fresh cuban bread here.....I'm making cuban sandwiches to take down to a neighbor's river-front gazebo for a small sunset gathering. Our neighbor (who is a fantastic cook!) invited us and our friends who are visiting to come for her scrumptious homemade banana cream pie and coffee, so I'm bringing the sandwiches and whole grain salsa chips to be the "appetizer" for the pie. LOL

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

don't know what pigeon peas are

sounds good Louise

Tonight nothin fancee smancee

Rehoboth, MA(Zone 5a)

Just disovered this thread, how did I miss it since cooking is one of my favorite things to do? That includes gardening.
I cook from scratch most of the time. Leftovers are for the next day or are kept in the freezer, so are the loaves of bread I bake, do not have a bread machine, would miss the kneeding part . I make wonderful chicken or turkey soup from its carcas, or so my children tell me when I hand it over to them as I do most everything, since I possibly could not eat all that by myself. I am a great-grandmother, you can see I am an old fashioned cook. My husband was a very good cook too but he is, I am sure, with angels somewhere.

I use a slow cooker once in a while but do not care for it except for baby spareribs with sauer kraut, that is pretty good. Also make vegetable soup from roasted root vegetables, very sweet especially with lots of parsnips.

Edited to say I am not a typist only with two fingers, just saw all the typos, forgot to check, sorry, I should know better

Since I was born and brought up in Austria, I use many of my mother's recipes, especially at Christmas time using her wonderful baked items

Love this threa keep it up, WNY and thanks for starting it, pretty soon many will have vegetables growing in the garden, at least I hope so. Wish I had one but ar my age it would ne a bit too much now.

Dinner last night was simple: Pork Tenderloins (with garlic and thyme) grilled on the cast iron skillet with the raised ribs. Also had homemade stuffing and lima beans.

Breakfast is blueberry pancakes with real maple syrup and coffee .... Of course, this is from my world-famous pancake recipe!!

I am glad to see such an interest in sharing our menus!! I already have several new recipes to try!! Thanks! And ..... Keep them coming!!

Essex Junction, VT(Zone 4a)

Lunch has been a tomato sauce with chopped collards (today I'll be adding some tofu that I forgot to buy on Sunday!), and Dinner is beans and rice (red kidney and black beans with onions some spices and some tomato sauce, with brown rice).

These were actually pretty filling and yummy. and cheap!

Have to work at church this pm for a funeral---hate to say it, but we workers bring the leftovers home for dinner--it's not much---3 types of sandwiches, fruit platter, & lots of bar cookies, but it's enough for us! Have to get going--funeral is at 1.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yummy - funeral leftovers!

North Augusta, ON

Last night we had home made pea soup that we had frozen previously and grilled hm and cheese sandwiches.

Tonight's still up in the air...no idea!

North Augusta, ON

We ended up having Shepherds Pie last night, will have the leftovers tonight.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)
