Garden photos of '09.....#6

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Thanks, there are so many functions on my camera that it took me forever to find the "super" zoom again. I knew I had taken bird close ups before and could NOT find what setting it was. It was driving me crazy. Found it finally today.

lol....that makes me soooo happy Jen to hear that other folks "loose" functions on their camera as well.

I think my hubby got the most complicated one, I mean there are 2 instruction manuals!!

southern willamette , OR(Zone 7a)

ut ohh... that's scary.

Ughh - that camera I will never use, that is in the other room? 1 manual but hundreds of pages.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

jen - is it a start-up guide and then the full blown guide?

for macro functions my camera manuals refer to each other for more detail. i though that was very helpful - not

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Often there are better 'manuals' online somewhere.

Buffalo, NY(Zone 6a)

And you don't have to be fluent in Mandarin or Taiwanese ...... ^_^

I have friends who can, and tell me those directions are usually better. Though, they could just be pulling my leg! I wouldn't know the difference.

South Hamilton, MA

We computer challanged people prefer paper manuals so you don't have to sit in front of a screen.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

You can print it out.

South Hamilton, MA

True, especially if you want to mess around outside.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

That's usually what I like to photograph!^_^

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Regular manual and then the manual just to upload the pics, but both really thick!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

What camera is it, Jen?

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Canon powershot A650 IS

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Cool. Have fun with it.

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

I'm still saving my pennies for a new camera. Perhaps by 2012 I'll have enough saved.

Mona in Metcalfe, ON(Zone 5a)

I want a good one for my birthday in may so a birthday/mothers day gift and I want a rebel with the exchangable lenses lol it real nice and I want a good zoom it has a feature
that can take sixteen pictures in like five seconds of something so I will get those hummers the camera I have now always takes to long to take the pic and I miss all the hummer shots lol it really upsets me

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

My first plant to emerge besides crocus and daffs and tulips none of which are blooming but this sedum Matrona is a good sign

Thumbnail by ge1836

Good grief - I can go walk outside and see nothing. This is getting tedious.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Nice. Sedum start breaking through early.

Mona in Metcalfe, ON(Zone 5a)

my sedum always has buds before the winter usually mid november just before the snow

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Thats what I was afraid of - - - - so I wont go looking for the Astilbe then? LOL

Mona in Metcalfe, ON(Zone 5a)

i love astilbe have huge ones they go really good with hostas and columbines

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

They are so hard to see when emerging. Ferns also.

Mona in Metcalfe, ON(Zone 5a)

and they will not be up for a while late bloomers mine start i think in may but hostas shoot up in april and dicentra starts as soon as snow melts about same time as hostas

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Hummmmm thanks. I will search the Hostas and Bleeding hearts to see if there is any sign of life.
I especially want to know if one or two of the slow growing Takadamas hosta( sp) made it.
I transplanted a BH and dont care if it lives or dies as there is a list of plants I want for the spot. Gistapo gardener here.lol

Mona in Metcalfe, ON(Zone 5a)

oh they made it lol I have planted hostas for 25 years even if you plant a new one and all the leaves die to the ground and they look totally dead, they are just dormant and will come back bigger and better the next year I have never lost a hosta and I dont even water them in the summer lol they are natural woodland plants and will survive anything mother nature will through at them

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

i might be moving one or two. I took advantage of the Bluestone 50% off sale last May and weighed in heavy on the hostas.

Thomaston, CT

Gee, I miss one day, & the thread is massive! I'm showing Patti's GH to DH, & telling him I need one to survive winter, without my usual crankiness---or the b word--Jo Ann---loved the lemon hydragea---didn't think I would---Patti & Willie--great jades---never saw them bloom! I have one, but not the traditional leaves, so I don't know if it's a true jade--here's the photo. Shelley---I never saw so many beautiful hellebores. Victor--the deer was tooo cute to eat! And the cardinal photo was so uplifting.

It's a fluted jade .... or at least that is what I call them.

I have the one "Gollum"

http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/545/

I think that is what yours is, too!

The other that is similar is called "Hobbit"

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

That's cool, Robin!

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

funny - rarefind has an MP azeala hummmmmmmm

Buffalo, NY(Zone 6a)

I'll see if I can start one for you, Victor. Should be no trouble at all.

What am I seeing from Victors link? An unknown plant?

Buffalo, NY(Zone 6a)

Any plant with the name Mary POOPins! ... I mean Poppins

Calgary, AB(Zone 3a)

I AGREE that this is getting OLD schikenlady. I'm going to cheat and post pics of my evergreens and we can just pretend they are spring growth.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Victor, I did the same thing after he mentioned Mary Poppins...I was thinking of a Disney movie garden.
