Jaye those goodies are still good, even though it's been hours since you made them! YUM!!
Thank you for all of your advise, I so appreciate it. You know, reading through all of your posts I started thinking and realized that I am not religious but I do love God. I am wrong to say I'm a religious person because I don't believe in the "religions," like my grandmother making everyone put away the coffee when the visiting teachers showed up (that was always a hoot) and things like that. I don't celebrate Lent either, I can't give up any food because I love food. I figure that this is the way I am and have always been, God must have wanted me this way.
Dave said something happened in her life that is causing her an extreme amount of guilt and she's trying to make up for it and is using the church as an escape from herself.
I think he has something there.
Onward, my boss called in sick! After suffering from my road rage this morning, that makes my day somewhat easier, even though I do like it when he's here. He's not one of those that will watch over your shoulder to make sure you're working or whatever. When he called he asked what I was doing, I said, "I have road rage!!" He said, "Well now, I can't imagine YOU having THAT!" LOL

YIPPIE !!! Bonnie is coming to see me !!! TOMORROW !!!
And, she's not even going to look at my messy house... I'm leaving all the dust bunnies where they lay. I might clean ONE bathroom, so she doesn't think I'm totally a low life. After all, she does need one place to change into her work clothes...LOL
Crissy... ya know, I've dealt with co workers like that before... and I found it best to ignore them...
Here's my view of her complaints though... I believe that God gave us daylight to do all the things we need to get done ... and dark hours to rest. Our bodies weren't built to withstand the torture of burning the candle at both ends. If she's only getting 3 hours sleep at night, then she's torturing the one body that God gave to her to take care of. Some really smart people found out that an average of 8 hours sleep is what most people need to function. Some need more, some less. And if she's not allowing her body to get enough rest, then she can no longer be as productive as God intends her to be during the day.
I told my kids once, that when you find yourself complaining a lot, then life isn't working for you. You need to find the things that aren't working, and get rid of them. They know what I mean when I say "Weed your garden". To this day, some 30 years later... they still use that term.
Sounds like your coworker needs to "weed her garden".
How would I handle it? I would be suttle, but also diligent. Go in some mornings and say things like "Oh, I feel great today !!! God blessed me with such a good night's sleep last night". Lot's of positive comments about how great your life is, and how you thank God for the blessings in your life, will cause her to want to pattern her own life after yours.
When she complains, just say "I'm sorry you're feeling bad"... and then make a comment about having so much to be thankful for in your own life.
Ok, off my soap box...
LK, Mike is not in school today because everyone is taking the TAKS test today. They did not want him to take it, and would have just sat on his thumbs today. So, we decided he didn't even have to go... I can use his help here.
Phyllis... best you not give them a piece of your mind... perhaps you can just act like their petty bickering isn't effecting you at all... and just go about being your own bubbly self. After a while... they'll get the message that their mouths aren't making anything change.
BJ I have done that, she gets MMAAADDDDDD! I think it's hilarious. I'm one of those little turds who will feed off of someone's negativity to boost my positivity and throw it back at them. Of course it doesn't help when someone comes out from their office and says something like, "Christine I'm so glad you're here! You light up the whole office!" That happens at least once a week and she gets sooooo mad.
Oh she's stealing coffee, I just confirmed it. I have thought so for awhile, but didn't have proof. Me and her are the only two who make coffee. A while back the canister was empty and she made a pot of coffee without having a new canister. Yesterday I emptied the canister and left it there, this morning we had a whole 12 pot full of coffee with coffee filling the filter, but no new canister. I asked with the director standing here and everyone else, "Jewel, I emptied the coffee canister yesterday and there's a whole new pot of coffee this morning but no new canister, did you put it in a different spot?" I've never heard someone stutter so much and fast in my life, and dance around the question so fast, she never did answer the question. The director was running off to a meeting but did stop talking when I addressed it and heard her non-answer. He didn't respond but I need to red handed bust her, there's no telling what else she's taking.
This is funny, right after I posted the earlier post one of the staff attorneys, the one whose always praising me and slamming her, came in and talked to the director for a few minutes. She came out of his office and said, "I'm going to kill all of the stupid people!" I cracked up and jokingly said, "That would wipe out a good portion of the population!" Jewel stood up from her desk and said in her uppity tone, "So who do you think you are playing God ??" She said, "I'm not playing God, I'm not saying where they should go!" Of course Jewel went into the kitchen to preach at her and was told, "Jewel, it is way to early to listen to your crap!" I about died laughing!
Morning-forgot to say that I loved Debra's pics yesterday-so beautiful!!
Good advice BJ.

Here is a little Synopsis of my weekend with Mom:
So I got to Mom's on Friday afternoon and the first place we had to go was her fabric store after we ate lunch....Oh my-it was fabulous!! Jaye had told me I would be able to tell the difference between good fabric and so so fabric and boy was she right-it was a lot like the difference in thread counts of sheets....I could have spent sooooo much $$ in there!! Saw so many I loved!! But I was good as I am broke!!LOL I got a little bit of fabric as a gift, then I got some B & W fabric from the sale rack, the flower fairy from the sale rack and a batik for the back of my rag quilt from the sale rack-when I found the spider mum print, I knew it had to be part of the B & W quilt for the fairy room!!! THe edging is what I am thinking:) I had to laugh as it seemed that every time I turned around there was a lady that worked there following us-so I asked her and we all had a good chuckle!! From there we went to Michaels, I had a couple things to get, and then went to Joann's where I found the mock smock material by the inch to make a little dress for me and the muslin for and insulator layer for the rag quilt. They had their Olfa cutting tools on sale, so I got a little kit with the mat and 2 rotary cutters-1 reg size and one smaller for curves....
We went to dinner at this place called Buddy's that has the BEST onion rings!! So excited!! I did not sleep well that night and was up by like 7am....so I made myself at home and got on DG while waiting for Mom to get up-I read all my threads and was ready to go B4 she even had her tea!!LOL We went to the quilt shop again as I wanted to look at the pattern for the dahlia quilt and wanted to make a purse they had....so we spent forever looking for material for the purse, found what I wanted and got something to make a template for cutting the material for the rag quilt, and went to WM-got a lip ruler for me like I wanted and a clasp for the purse....
Went to the orchid show-can't wait for Mom to show you all her pics that I took!! Made friends with one of the judges and her & I talked as I took pics.....Went to look at the orchids for sale and of course got one-my 1st Phalaenopsis-mericlone from Oak Hill Gardens. When I got it, I asked the guy if he would write his # on the info in case I had any other ??'s as this was my 1st orchid-I meant the company # and I think he thought I meant his personal one!!LOL Was kinda funny when I realized what he thought!!LOL We also got some really neat ones made from a Japanese clay that a man was selling-sooo cute-Mom will have to take a pic of hers too and I will mine to post-I guess this clay is more flexible-he dropped one and it didn't even crack!! Then we went to the MSU dairy store and there was a nice young man behind us that I made friends with and he helped Mom with her purchase:) We ate and then went back home to Mom's where she let me have some of her fabric and I practiced cutting and cut my templates and Mom made my dress:)
The next am we got up and went to a 10:50am show-we saw Taken-I really liked it-LOVE Liam Neisen (sp?) and then went to lunch-then I came home-very eventful weekend!!
Wowo Stacey you soud like you had the best time with your mom.. I thought I kept busy but that made me tired.. lol I love it when my mom and I go running around but shes not really all that crafty.. She used to draw but now she doesnt do much other than play in teh dirt.. :)
Well those things certainly look fun. I want to do both of those, go to Canton, TX, and the American Mall in Minneapolis.
Stacey, you really didn't need a template for the rag quilt! Just line it up on your cutting mat and use the lip ruler and cut all the layers, then cut the other way for the squares! Easy!
Jaye thanks for the goodies will need all the energy I can get today. We are going to make a big push at Laura’s today to get the rest of their stuff moved so they can start the cleaning and yard work.
Sorry LK….it is the first thing you see when you walk in my front door and I was afraid it was going to start cascading off , Sage would get buried under it and I don’t know if my old dog is up to digging her out at this point in life!…….and DH is threatening to confiscate my computer :(
Enjoy the day BJ
Love the Ponderisms!
Waving to all have to run .....Doris gets her hair permed today....then it is off to Lauras....talk to ya later...
BJ check the blakc and white quilt block swap. Some of us are talking about maybe a batik fat quarter swap followed by a batick quilt block swap. We could ask for the same colors for both and have blocks + extra material for a quilt. I know you have been doing the fat quarters; what do you think? Maybe an interest thread?
Stacey and I did have fun this weekend even though we didn't get to work on her quilt. I think she is going to be very good at this. She has a better eye toward mixing fabrics, colors, design and she can visualize what it will look like when it is complete; much better than me.
She saw a quilt with a design called "Dalhia" done with a template and then applicate (Sp?) Beautiful, with nine different shades starting at the lightest and going to the darkest of the same base color. Design in the middle of the quilt. We'll see how the rag one works out before trying anything more complicated.
Stacey, so glad we got you hooked on the fabric buying, and hopefully the quilting part of it too? Have you sewn any of the squares together yet? Once you have them all cut, and layered together, it goes together pretty fast!
Hey Audrey, how you doing? You don't post that much. Just hope your not down with the crud?
Audrey is right about the stencil, you don't need them. Just square your fabric on the cutting board, use a long ruler, and cut away!
LK
Their right unless you want to feature the fairies in the center of the each block; then a template comes in handy.
Well, Kavin is a sweetheart. That is a fact!
His name is Kavin Jameson. .His daddy’s name is Kevin James. Get it? Jame(son). They didn’t want to name him the same as Kevin, so they went with KAvin.
Kim, you certainly have a green thumb…all your fingers, too, I’m thinking! The color on the strep is stunning!
Oh Trisha, a double rainbow…how beautiful…Lucky you! Thank you for the Pandora’s box info. I have Carlos Nakai music playing right now!
Tink, sounds like you had a grand time. So happy for you and “mom”. :O)
Hey Joyce,
How are you enjoying your time off? Are you doing any kind of crafts? That's cute about your grandson's name. When my brother's wife was pg he wanted a boy really bad ( 3 girls already) and was saying that he would be named Harley so that people would say " That's Harley, David's son, lol. My brother was a big time biker and built alot of his own scooters. Well, he did get his boy but ended up naming him Sterling David. He has not seen his son in about 15 years now because of his ex.
I think I finally found the block pattern I want for my Eagle quilt.
How old is he now?
Sterling is 20, I think. My brother's ex was into drugs big time, and the dealers were after her so she took the kids and split. Tried to put all onto to my brother which cause the dealers to go after my brother. They took my mom and dad's truck (my brother was using while my parents were on a cruise), hit my brother in the temple with a flash light (to this day he has a horrible scar) told my brother to come up with $1500, or he wouldn't get the truck back.
Oh Man...that's an awful story!
I haven't been crafting Cindy. I've been looking longingly at the frozen landscape and running to see my Mom. I joined an exercise group and I've been going to that twice a week. Plus I get to read up on Dave's a lot more regularly!!
Iye yey yey. That's a lot of drama. How is Sterling now? Is he doing alright with all of this drama in his life?
I have not seen him or know anything about his life, since "95" when the B#*@H of a mother took off with them.
We got soaked big time today. I had gotten back home in time, it started lightening and thundering them it POURED BUCKETS for about 15 minutes.
Yes, LK, that looks like the one we saw. It had a package for the pattern with templates. You sewed the fabric to the template material, then turned it inside out for a finished petal with no rough edges. Then you sewed the petals together in the pattern design using a small zig zag stitch. Interesting technique; never saw that done before.
Well, when I woke up this morning, I had a dmail from Bonnie saying that she would be coming through Dallas tomorrow, and renting a car and driving to my house for a visit. Of course, I didn't look at the date she sent that dmail, so I assumed she meant TOMORROW... Wednesday.
Well, while Mike and I are starting to dig up the walkway around the front of the house... she drives up... turns out that she wrote that dmail last night... LOL...
We had a great visit this afternoon... messy house and all.
Hey Bon, how was your trip? Glad to see you got to Bj's place OK. I love her house, and her yard. Lots to do out there!
Cindy, what is your pattern for your eagle quilt?
LK
Cindy, that will be so pretty! Make sure you post when it gets done please?
Bj, I gave her instructions to give you a hug for me too! I hope you got it!
LK
Does anyone remember who was needing coke can tabs? I'm saving them for this sistah and I forgot who she was. Please let me know .
LK... I got lots of hugs... and probably one of them was from you.
Wow, your fingers have been busy, while mine stayed under the covers! It's been so cold.. 30's then dropped to the 20's and supposed to be in the teens by tomorrow morning.
Stacey, thank you sweetheart!!! I love the fabrics, and no, I don't have either one, though last week, I almost got the one with coffee beans, and I'm glad I changed my mind. They'll be used with the rest of my collection and again, thank you so much!!!! Wasn't that fun, running your hands through bolts of fabrics and getting wowed over the tools they come up with for quilting. Yes, more thread count is what sets a good quilt cloth apart from the bad ones.. practically some you can see daylight through them!
Janice, mark of a fearless mind if Stacey wanted to do a Dahlia for her first piecing.. You'll be there to help, right.. she'll need it :D
Is Maid M. telling us something? One of you better visit her soon, or she'll be spending advertising $$$ on DG trying to get one of her sistahs to spend some time with her!!!!!! Be patient, May will soon be here.
Awwww...BJ, you must be in cloud 9 to see another sistah! Bonnie, how does it feel to finally meet ONE SI sistah? Hope there'll be more meetings like this, and I bet, you both instantly bond!!
BJ, looks like you have plenty of room to plan a beautiful secret garden.
Take your time Donna in sending out the gardenias.. cause it will be cold the whole week today :*( Remember when we predicted that good things will happen too you soon.. like they've already begun!
Cheap vet price there.. hard to believe!
And yes, Crissy, looks like 'she' doesn't really love nor respect herself.. so there's no way you can please her. Just be your cheerful, positive self!
Cindy, a stained glass pattern will be lovely to showcase your eagle. Just get some brilliant colours to make it 'pop'!
Hiya Cookie and Audrey... waving at LK.... Cindy.. beautiful calla lilies Cody..
Trisha, my fav. torch singer is Dinah Washington.
Not me Deborah.. maybe it's Tina-Tia?
Kel bought Beverly Hills Chihuahuas, and we're gonna watch this tonight!!
Just popped in for a minute...had to come home and hook up the printer for DH.....We have spent all afternoon moving stuff.....I am headed back again as soon as I get a cup of coffee... gonna be a long night.... but they will be sleeping at the new house tonight.
Chances are this good night to most of you...talk to you tomorrow if I can move....
