Kim I too am praying things get better for you. When it rains it pours. You are brave driving on those snow covered roads by yourself. I would be white-knuckled all the way lol!
Debra those pictures are absolutely gorgeous! Took me back a few years remembering my pictures. Love the lacy dress and the story the pictures told.
BJ I'm so glad Mike is working out, what a neat kid! How long have you been taking in students? I think that's a great idea, too bad I don't have kids to be exchange students themselves LOL, no, it's not too bad, it's too bad I never got into it myself lol!
As far as siblings, I have none so I hope my mom stays married and my dad stays with his girlfriend and visa versa lol!
۞ Sweet Interruptions ۞108
LOL Cindy every rainstorm we get is in the yellow and red, sometimes they're in the black and purple, which is hail and sometimes a tornado! And yes, the first time I saw that kind of rain coming at me back here I about had a coronary! In Modesto I was in awe because there was no danger of tornadoes or baseball sized hail. Button down the hatches girl!
LOL, I've been outside collecting bird feeders that I don't want to get broke, moving plants that could get damaged. I'm watching weatherunderground thingie to see how fast it's moving toward us. 6 Flaggs is getting pounded right now.
Morn ladies,
I think that Cindy is talking about headed this way too.
I noticed alot of new names this morning Nice to see them I like reading about everyone.
I can only stay online for little while , my daughter is coming out and I have to put lighten on her hair, fun fun
I have been checking all my bulb and they still haven't put up their spouts yet, well maybe next week.
Cindy i finished the hat I'm making for Tory for xmas, now I have to start on the sweater. Hope it goes better than the hat.
Are you going to watch the race today? The one yesterday was good! Lots wrecks!!!!
Kim you are a wonderful caring person for your family. I wish the best for your sister and I'm glad to hear she is sober from her addiction now. Your mom will recover and I know you are relieved.
Joyce, glad to her your mom is better. You are a wonderfully caring daughter.
Debra, there's no way I could lurk and leave without saying how wonderful your daughter's slide show is. It gave me that "AAAWWW" feeling all warm and fuzzy inside. The antebellium house used for her portriets was a perfect setting. Lauren is a beautiful bride. Her groom will quiver in his knees and lose his breath when he sees her. I'm so happy for you!
Hey Jaye and all my sistahs. We've had some severe weather yesterday and it looks like we will be getting a lot more rain today. Not complaining just don't want the change in temperature to raise up a tornatoe. Know what I mean Vern?
Well, rat-now I must put up my sewing for awhile. All the burp pads are finished. Talk again really soon. I'll probably be on tonight since the sewing is finished.
Crissy, Mike is my first student to host. Don and his EX hosted exchange students before, several years ago... but we just got into it together this past January.
You do not have to have children yourself to host a student... "exchange" doesn't mean you have to have one to send, to get one in return... There's actually more students that are received in the US than we send abroad. AFS (American Field Service) is the oldest exchange program in existence, and is always looking for host families in the US... so, if any of you think you'd be interested... go here, and check it out.

Talk later Torys here
We would love some rain here in New England to help melt some of the 12-18 inches of snow still on the ground. We are supposed to get 10-15 inches of more snow tomorrow. I don't think I'll see spring until August!!!!!
Hey Sissy,
If you go to www.weatherunderground.com you can see where the storms are. It's funny to see, becuse Calif is getting pounded then go straight across the states to the east coast and you see Al, GA, etc getting pounded. Rick's mom lives in Warner Robin,GA and it's snowing there now. I keep watching the radar to see when it's going to hit us. We may lose power.
Stay safe Cindy. That goes for both of you too Sissy and Quilter. The wind is howling like a coyote out there rat-now.
Morning girls
My thoughts and prayers are with each of you even if I am not here as much right now.
Well the rain storm went right on past us. But it is raining soon my pond and the creek will be one. Hope my littles fishes don't end up down stream, lol.
I am going to watch the race today, forgot about it yesterday lol!
Looks like a lot of watta, California needs it so bad.
Careful Quilter, you don't want a flood from melting snow. It is bright, sunny, and 29 degrees. I wanted to go outside and take some spring pictures but I'm still way congested from that "monster bug" as they are calling it here, so I better stay in until it warms up a bit.
I like that Weather Underground, I'm going to have to play with that for a bit. I use Accuweather.com, signed up for premium service so I can see the storms at street level and pinpoint possible tornado hooks. I never heard of a "hook" before I moved here so yesterday I decided to put my new knowledge to the test. There were tornado warnings in Georgia but I didn't know exactly where, so I brought up my street level radar and found a hook in the radar that was even showing hail. Said that's it, then went back to the warnings to see if I had the right counties, and sure enough, those were the same counties that were under the warning! I was so proud of myself, I think I should have been a meteorologist NOT!! LOL
Morning everyone. Cindy, and Sissy, hope you don't get the rain too bad! You can send some of that rain down this way. It has been like 11 months since we have had any rain!
You all Texans have it good!!!
Ice, Susan?? No, no, no.... Crissy can keep the snow and definitely we don't want ice :(
It's been non stop rainy here for 2 days.... but no snow as of now. Predicting tomorrow :( Not good when one has to be on the roads.
Sissy, take a pic of what you've done for Tory. Curious here :D
Barb.. unlike Deborah who'd be taking a break from her machine, I'll be on it like white on rice. You know that BW quilt block swap that I joined... got me inspired to do 12 more but with one pattern :D Think this time it will be a Drunkard's Path like I had originally planned.. with some sprinkling of red.
Well, it may be not the time to enjoy some outdoors activities for you now, at least you have your fabric stash Barb!!
Sis Deborah, you deserve a good rest.. and it's time you play in here often!!
Wunderground is a great weather site... and actually, we have a weather station on our roof... Fox4 in Dallas actually uses our station to report the weather for Cedar Creek Lake...
This is what it's doing at our house right now.

sunny but chilly out mind you I say chilly where as BJ or Linda may said COLD but cold to me is what is up north in Illinois by Kim & Judy LOL
Well that's cool bj! I've never heard of Weather Underground before. I've been looking on your afs link too, I don't know if that's for me, I don't even know what school a high school student would go to down here. It would give me a reality check that I can use!
So when I click on "webcam" is that your backyard?
Chock full o' Nuts and my heavenly Stash --I'm all set. Hope I don't lose power. No sewing AND no DG - Heaven forbid!!!! I'm just glad we have someone who is great about getting us plowed out. He comes around 4AM and then comes back after the town plows have snowed us in again. Gotta love it. I'm also up on a hill so no flooding issues. We made out with the ice storm in Dec but now I'm tired of white. Think GREEN!!!
Yes, green green green! My yard is starting to turn green again, from brown. No white stuff here.
No, Crissy... we don't have a web cam... if you get a pic when you click on that link... I don't know what you're looking at.
Phyllis... it's just chilly here... I've been outside, and it's really not as cold as it sounds... temp says 50*, wind chill of 45*, but it doesn't feel that cold out there... however, Mike and I have found plenty to do indoors today...
Poor thing... I have him sorting rocks... couldn't get more boring than that.
Kim so sorry to hear about your mom, dad and BIL.....I have mixed feeling about praying he stays in jail.....we had a fried with a bad drug and alcohol problem, kept getting put back in jail, and let out....a month or two later back in...over and over....he finally ended up for an extended stay....he has been clean and out of jail for almost 2 years now. It turned out to be the best thing that ever happened to him.
All of you with the storms coming in take care....looks like we have a week plus of rain to look forward to...but that is normal for us.
Need to get Sage ready to go.....her maternal grandmother is picking her up for a visit a little later and I am going to be helping Laura move some boxes. Oh what fun....:(
Waving to all...talk to ya later!
Afteroon everyone...
OOO LK I love hummers but have only seen 2 here in th elast almost 3 years in may.. Im working on it though and am growing alot of bottlebrush babies..
BJ have heard of weather underground but never really been there until now.. Thanks for the reeminder link.. Even funnier I have been sorting rocks too! I have been cleaning up beds and decided to move some things around.. I dont thin kI have apic yet but will get one later when I brave the chill in the air now that it stopped raining its getting cold...
Cindy I wish y grass wa sgreener.. right now its brown patchy and I have clover starting.. LOve that and was wandering if I could transplant clover throughout the yard?? LOL Woul dbe nice all year for the most part here..
Well you all had me right I got crafty this afternoon with the quiet down time before the kids got home.. My best friend wanted me to try to make a diaper cake.. She made one put it on craigslist and has 6 orders so she thought I may be good at it.. Well I watched a few video how tos on youtube and made one.. What do you think??
Donna,
The Diaper cake is AWESOME!!!! Hope you get lots of orders but not to overwhelmed.
Thank you Cindy..
Honesty Im hoping for overwhelmed but will settle with anything.. lol Its worth a shot..
I think I even figured out how I coul dship them if someone wants to send one as a gift.. Max has been a amazing help with the structure integrty so it wont fall apart and he thinks I should do one with a round (box) to hold a surprise as the bottom layer.. Hes so excited.. Felt weird to buy baby stuff though.. lol
BJ, if I click on your link under Current Conditions on the left, below that it shows a radar map, there's a tab at the top of that map, one tab is "radar" which is selected, the next tab is "webcam" Check it out!
Love the diaper cake! Way cute!
Sad news, Paul Harvey passed away, I started a new thread for him.
Donna, why are you sorting rocks? Let me tell you what I'm sorting them for. I found a site that tells how to use rocks for sanding polymer clay beads, instead of wet/dry sand paper... which is a real pain in the you know what to use. Rocks last forever, sand paper only lasts one or two sandings... so, I bought a bag of unpolished rocks, and now have to sort them to get the smooth ones out... right now, I've put the ones that aren't smooth in the vibrating tumbler to see if I can get them smooth.
The diaper cake is sooo cute... hope you get "OVERWHELMED" with orders... might even be worth the listing fee to put some on ebay.
All those in the path of the pending storms... I'm sure you'll be ok... I pray that they'll just pass quickly and not damage anything.
Crissy, none of those web cams are at our house... we've never installed one.
Too sad about Paul Harvey... my mom actually had dinner with him once when she was a young girl (16, I think)... he asked her on a date after my grandfather had invited him to dinner when he arrived in Tyler, TX and had no plans yet. My grandfather wouldn't let my mom go out on the date, because he didn't like it that Paul was "aimlessly" traveling around the country.
oi looved Pual Harvey.. Sad t o hear of his passing..
BJ I am sorting big rocks.. LOL I am using a bunch of rocks that were gathered from a few states by my mom and I while on vacation.. I hate living somewhere you have to buy rocks.. grrr Anyway I am lining two beds that have plams in them on each side of the entrance for the nursery area.. The rocks have been moved from one side of the yard to another and Im finally getting them where I like them..
Thank you both.. Im glad the cake is to everyones liiking. I was trying for somethin gthat woul dappeal to large groups and keepin it practical.. Im looking into listing on a few places. It looks like etsy might be cheaper but I already have old feedback on ebay ( I havent done much since they changed all the rules).. Thinking Local Craigslist too..
I wouldn't install one either, I wouldn't want the world looking into my backyard. I just wanted to show you where the pictures were at.
BJ that's hilarious about Paul Harvey! My grandfather always listened to him on the radio, he was on every day the same time I got out of school so that's what we listened too all the way back to his house (a 10 minute drive.) I was in grade school so never understood what he was talking about, just remember waiting to hear "the rest of the story."
Sorting ROCKS! I thought it said sorting Socks .... had to go back and reread it after you began to describe what he was doing. lol!
Donna, you're very good at making the towel cakes. Keep it up! Here's hoping the biggest problem you have is being overwhelmed with orders!
It was kind of funny how mom and Paul Harvey met...
Was sometime around 1937 or 38, and Paul Harvey was traveling around the country as a roving reporter. My grandfather owned a furniture store in Tyler, and Paul Harvey came in to sit in a chair and rest a while. My grandfather thought he was a transient, and offered him a home cooked meal. He took him home and my grandmother set him a place at the table. After dinner he and my mom visited on the porch swing, and he asked her if she'd like to have dinner in a restaurant the next day. Paul was a few years older than mom, and her dad didn't like that. He also still thought Paul was a transient, and told him to leave his daughter alone. Mom remembered her dad dragging her in the house and telling her "that boy will never amount to anything".
When my mom heard him on the radio for the first time, she about died. always kept the memory, though... I think it might have been one of her first "flirtatious" moments.
Gosh, BJ, if your grandfather had let them go on a date, you might have been Paul Harvey's daughter! I heard today that he proposed to his wife on their first date!
Hello everyone!!!!!
I hope you all had a great day.
We took Alex to see a movie after Church today. Then we went to Wally World and then we went to Raising Cane and came home.
Kimmie,my heart goes out to you and your family.I'm proud of you girl for beening their for both of them when they need you the most.
Donna love all your cakes.

Looks like Trisha might need some Uncle Ben to help with the boxes.
Donna that cake is superb! Yep, I agree with Debra, your forthcoming orders might just overwhelm you! Etsy doesn't have much traffic, you're still better off trying eBay, though you got to pay. Include that in the charges.
Who knows, should Paul Harvey be BJ's parent, we might never have known this wonderful lady :(
What is Raising Cane, Cody? I hope you had a blast too.
Don't forget Tom Selleck tonight.. be still my heart..
