Whoo hooo LOL I have the house to myself..

I spent the morning working out in the yard with the kids.. I mowed the fron, bagged up dead palm fronds, Cleaned out the doghouse (like they even need one), stood the pool up and attatched the legs so it can get cleaned and ready for spring, did poop patrol with the shovel, and even hauled the tash fence peices to the curb for Tuesday pick up.. Think now before the rain sets in Im headed out to plant the daffodils..

Huggs to all will check in later Im running away with my mp3 player for a bit!

Hello everyone!!!!

Hi Cody!

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Yea, right... Jaye... you're just going to say hi to the staff at the fabric store ... uh huh... sure.

I feel more spirited with a young person around... and Mike is such a joy to have too... however, I'm told that not all the students we'll get will be as perfect as this one... so, I'm enjoying him while we have him.
We're already getting lists of next year's students to choose from... it's such a hard decision to make.

Well, we're off ... and I'm bundled up like winter... hard to believe we're going swimming... so funny.

Ferndale, AR(Zone 7b)

Jaye, is that your quilt or from the quilt show? It’s gorgeous.

BJ, I’m sore all over from all the work you’ve done. LOL! Sorry your help isn’t showing up.

Joyce, my thoughts and prayers are with you.

Trisha, your talents always blow me away. That baby is amazing. And when do you find the time? That’s a talent in itself. BTW, I found some of those vampire bunnies under my bed earlier this week.

Donna, I got to thinking about what good are mosquitos for? They are food for bats and fish – but can’t think of any other good reason for them to be around. Just think of all the millions of deaths from malaria caused by those tiny creatures.

Kim, so sorry to hear it’s been rough. Seems when it rains it pours – you and Joyce are both experiencing how one parent gets sick and then the other can get sick from exhaustion or stress. Can you imagine being married for so many years, then your other half gets seriously ill? Their whole world is turned upside down. How I wish we could be of help in both situations.

Deborah, I’m soooooo proud of you!

Stacey, you definitely have a knack for picking out fabric. You are on your way (to fabric addiction – we have a thread for you).

Phyllis, how are those fudge monkeys?

WELL, I’M A PROUD MAMA! We had so much fun at the bridal portrait shoot Thursday. DD seemed fairly relaxed and enjoyed herself. I took over 200 digital photos myself throughout the process. I made a movie to tell ‘the story of Lauren’s bridal portrait’. My photos are of the whole process – photographers included. Many are candid shots after the posed shots were finished. Couldn’t resist sharing it with you. Just promise not to show the groom!

Edited to add - the quality is very poor when linked like this for some reason. Sorry.

(Barb) Manchester, NH(Zone 5a)

Absolutely inspiring!!!

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Oh, Debra... that was a beautiful slide show... you're quite a photographer. Of course, Lauren is such a beautiful subject to photograph too.

I loved the part about the figurine on the table... It almost told a story.
She sees it "Oh, isn't that cute".
She picks it up "It's heavy too"
She looks at the camera "It cost how much?"
She carefully places it back on the table "too rich for my blood".
She cuts her eyes as she walks away "Just wait till nobody's watching"
LOL...

Mike really enjoyed the water park... I spent the afternoon talking with another host mom, who (IMHO) was a bit fussy. she did nothing for two hours but complain about her student. This is a woman who doesn't work, hires her housework done, hires two (count them, "2") tutors who come to the house for her daughter. And complains that her exchange student prefers to stay to herself with her art and homework in her room than to join the family in the living room watching tv. When we got home, I had to take Mike by the shoulders and hug him... and thank him for being who he is, and such a comfortable teen to have in our home. I'm afraid that the next one won't be so perfect, and I'll compare all the rest to Mike... I hope not, but I think that will happen.

Don got home tonight before I had dinner warmed up and the cornbread made. He was sooo tired, but he and Mike and I discussed all the world problems, and may have solved a few, before Don just couldn't stay awake any longer. He's gone at 4am again tomorrow morning.
Mike had his first ever cornbread tonight... I'm so glad it turned out perfect... and he loved it. I think that will be my contribution to the cook book I'm making his mom. He also liked the macaroni goulash, something else he's never had.

Well, gonna check on my email... then I'm going to get horizontal myself and watch some tv...

Just checking in for a minute. having trouble opening Debra's pictures but not giving up.

Want to wish Chris a very happy birthday before it is over. Hope you had and are having a fantastic day!!!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Give it a few minutes, it does open.
Good night everyone

LK

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Halfway through, it froze... but not giving up neither.. and of course, Lauren is just as lovely as Debra!

BJ.. I think it all depends on the hostess. My sister hosts exchange students and she hasn't encountered any difficult students. Who would be happy living in an unwelcome atmosphere as you've described that lady.

Got back about an hour ago. You can say that it's been a long happy day. Not just looking for books, but taking drives through roads less travelled. And yes, I did say hello to my fav. quilt store staff.. and they were baaaaaaaad.... pointing me towards new Moda lines!!! Lol!!!

Think I'll turn in early.

Happy Birthday Chris!!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Chris. Happy Birthday. Hope you had a great day.

Jaye, glad you enjoyed your day out.

Good night everyone!!!May God bless each and everyone of you.

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Sounds like everyone had a good day......Sage went home and played with her friends this afternoon.....now dad has decided to move a lot of stuff early tomorrow before he has to go to work so she is spending the night with me again. She is playing with paper clay....we decided to test it out and see how it works for some of our projects. She is starting to try and make things from my books now instead of just her own "creations" and she has been doing well.

Happy Birthday Chris!!

BJ, you and Don are great and I can't imagine you will ever have trouble with any of your students.....you care too much and take an interest in them and they recognize that. Any student will be lucky to be assigned to you and Don!!

Jaye, sounds like you had a great outing today! I try to stay away from fabric stores....I don't do much in the way of sewing but I could easily become a fabric collector!!

Had a great dinner tonight....found a package of Halibut in the freezer...my brother loves to fish and brings us an ice chest full when he comes to visit..the last visit was Halibut, shrimp and crab. I could eat Halibut by the pound!! Have loved shrimp since I was about four and never met a crab I didn't like......guess I live in the right place after all.
Still can't get Sage to try it.....times like this I would like to smack her mother!

Have a full tummy and a nice glass of Reisling and think I shall be turning in soon. Sage tends to get up earlier than I am used to....guess I should get used to it since we are going to be sharing the getting her to and from school the rest of the school year....decided not to have her change schools in the middle of the year.

Have a good night everyone.

Well Good Morning all
This has been a strange time here I new my Dad got sick but things started to go good he was on the well mend so I had Dentist appointments so I left to go to Michigan to get my work done ( The reason I went up there is the Dentist were telling me that I needed root canals went to my Dr up North and said that no I did not need any of that and had to re put my filling in that they had taken out the Dentists also were double charging me double and I had found all there mistake ) OK For that Back to the story
OK its Tuesday and My Sister Moe calls my friends house and tells her My Mom has been Rush to the Hospital and my Dad has been put in a Nursing home to recoup
My Dad hated the nursing home and start to call everyone for 3 day he was so mad we couldn't look around for one of the other Nursing homes and the one that my Mom works at was all booked up so my 2 sisters and brother went there and took control As of now my Dad had lost a lot of blood I think you need to be at T14 and when he went in he was at T6 what ever that mean so they had to fill him up with 9 pints of blood they had no idea were the blood was going his feet and legs looked like elephant legs MY Dad is in pretty good shape as of last year he went on a Motorcycle( Harley Davidson) ride With my brother and Brother-in-law and my XTo be one Day) so he is in pretty good shape.
Well the Nurse's started to pull him out of bed and have him walk and he couldn't do that cause he was so swollen and no one new what was happening Not the Nurse they could get ahold of the Dr he also needed pain med there was no note to give him that it was really bad. Well they did get him calm down and on Tuesday we are having a Family Meeting with Dad Doctor Nurse Brother and Sister and who ever else wants to come see what has to be done if we can change Nurseing home or if he can have home care.
My Mom now was rushed to the Hospital she thought she had stomach flu Wrong she had gotten I m going to spell this wrong Dive trickuliteus Has to do with red meat so they had her on antibiotic but between the both of them the 3 were running from 1 hospital to another it was bad then on Top Of that My sister Kathy (Was a drug addict) and has been and still is off of drugs fro 7 years but she had gotten Married and her Husband was useing her He was to be trying to go to AA meeting and Counsel and had told my sister he was going to 2 meeting a day and seeing the conseler Wrong he had been drinking so My sister Kathy had to get him out of the house Than when I got into town and we went to see my Dad than being Moe's Birthday we went out for Dinner We all stayed at my Dads when we got home from Dinner a call came in and My sister Kathys husband was in Jail for DUI I am sorry but this guy is a jerk and I hope that he rots in Jail. Well I think that is my story and I am sticking to it.
I have no idea what is happening so I hope all my girlfriend are ok and safe I think that I will go back to my Dads it 50 miles I have so much to do here but my Mom and My sister and my Dad need me so I can get out of raking my yard again and cleaning the garage.
I will pop in and I hope I don't start work for a few more weeks
HUgs to you all and I hate to type

Kim, I'm glad you have siblings to help you. You have more than enough to deal with right now. My thoughts and prayers are with you and all of your family.

BJ, that's funny what you imagined as the story with the dog. Actually, the photographers had finished and asked if there was any other shot she would like. She had seen a pair of these dogs on a mantle in the bride's dressing room and, since she is so involved in dog rescue and loves dogs, she asked to have a photo with one. After the 'formal' shots, I told her to pick it up and love on it like a rescue puppy. She's saying "What????" in that photo. LOL! They turned out to be some of the best photos.

Good Sunday ladies.
A scrumptous Sunday breakfast laid out...... ice cold milk, hot cocoa, hot coffee, assortment of coffee creamers.....jelly and custard cream filled doughnuts, apple fritters, western omellettes... buttered toasts.
Enjoy and celebrate the day!

Favor to ask, please update on how your family and friends that are on the prayer list, are doing. I pray that He touches each and everyone of you, Gives you what you need, according to His will and Keeps you in His care forever. Always trust and lean on Him.

((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((Kim)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

Love you dear Sistah. So sorry that you're going through so much now. As for your dad losing blood and his legs swoll up, I pray that it will stop. It could be irritation to his stomach and intestines. My FIL had that but only lost 2 pints and given iron supplements. Perhaps a colonoscopy might show what's happening to your dad?
Diverticulitis is easy to heal for most patients. Your mum will be given a restricted diet for now.
Nope, can't pray for your BIL to rot in jail!!!
Poor you dear Sistah. You are a good daughter wanting to do your best for your family. We'll be here, and when you can't post, call one of us.. let us know how everything is.
When it is too much for you, rant over here. Don't hold everything in.
We will still be here for you.

Would it make you smile more if we were to tell you that we love you?

WE LOVE YOU!!!

( Kim) Zion, IL(Zone 5a)

Just knowing you guys are here with me is just great and always puts a smile on my face
really big Hugs to all
Kimmy

Morning Debra!! Yeah, nothing like siblings. When my parents were ill, my other 7 sisters and brothers took their turns to take care of them. I couldn't, being over here.

So Kim.. will you and that man be hooking up soon? Inquisitive sistahs want to know!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning everyone. Kim, send you hugs, and prayers for your family! Please don't over do your self! ou have to take care of yourself first, then take care of family.

Trisha, sounds like you will be busy with the little one. Give her hugs for us.

Morning Debra. How are you doing?

Jaye, thanks for the breakfast!

LK

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Good Morning Glories!!!

Sorry to hear about your mom and dad, and all your BIL, and dental problems, Kimmie. I'll definitely keep you and yours in my prayers.

Joyce... hows things going there with your mom and dad?

Thanks for the comments on how Don and I handle our student. Since I don't know that lady I talked to yesterday very well (can't even remember her name)... I really can't judge. There may be more to her story than I know. HOWEVER, her student loves museums, and Don and I talked last night about taking Mike to see the King Tut exhibit while it's in the Dallas Museum... and I'm thinking about inviting her to go with us. Her name is Katy, and she's really a lovely and interesting young lady... and told me yesterday that she loves gardening. She saw my ant bites, and that started up a whole conversation.
LOL... she asked me why I didn't have my gardener clean out the compost bin... and I told her that I AM the gardener... she just raised her eyebrows, and said "cool"....

Well... I need to get busy... I think it's going to be too cold today to be outside. High today is only suppose to be 52*, and really windy... so, I think I'll get Mike to help me inside with some things today.

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

Moring Ladies,

Kim so sorry to hear of all your family's health problems. I gotta say you are one brave chicky to be driving those snow covered roads like that and all by yourself too. You ROCK sistah!!!! Diverticulitis is painful to some peeps. My brother had to have 4 inches of his colon removed due to diverticulitis. had to wear a colostomy bag for several months. He is much better now feels better than he has in ages. He lost a lot of weight but is putting a little back on he looks good now, but when he was going through the treatments he looke awful.

Well it's raining here again and is suppose to keep it up all week long, so I will be house bound again maybe I can finish up some crafts for the Spring swap.
We are going out to Chevy's tonight to celebrate my daughter's b-day, she loves mexican food ( she's half).

Lancaster, OH(Zone 6a)

Morning sistahs

Kim Im so sorry to hear about all of your troubles.. Just keep your head upwe are all praying for things to get better for you..

Raining hard out there today. The dogs refused to go outside then decided to use the living room for potty purposes.. grrr So I carried Bella out and drug Dusty out by her collar told them no potty in the house.. So now I will have two wet dogs comming back inside.. Max just came home since he got rained out ( I suppose the other crew cant pour concrete in the rain).. Kids are still away so I think we will be spendin some comfy couch time.. Maybe work on a few craft projects and Max Im sure will be soldering something.. lol

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Sorry about all of your rainy weather... must be a east coast, west coast thing... cause here in Texas, it's sun shiney, and clear all week. But, today it's just too cold to be out there in the wind. Suppose to warm up starting tomorrow.

Since it's almost always 10* warmer on the sun porch, I think I'll get Mike to help me get it cleaned up. I was going to wait till we get all the plants off the sun porch to do the clean up... but, I think we can get most of it done, and just push all the plants to one end... then I will just have the one end left to do when the plants are back outside. Maybe he'll help me load up the Christmas stuff and take it all back to the storage room today too. I have no idea what Don is waiting for... he usually has all that done by now.
Funny... when we rented that storage room we only planned on a couple months while we built a storage building here on the property... it's been 3 years now... wonder if I'll ever get a storage building? I need to just haul about half that stuff off to a charity... I really don't need any of it anymore. Don and I are both pack rats... that's not a good thing.

Danville, VA(Zone 7a)

Morning All,
Well we are under a Winter Warning... we are already seeing ice and they say we are going to get allot of snow... Now allot of snow here could be 1/4 inch...LOL but they are saying maybe 6 inches and that is not good with ice... So if you don't hear from me in the next couple of days you know our power is down.... We will be fine as we have a wood stove and propane tanks to cook with... we will not have water but have a creek and we can bucket water in to flush the toilets.. Ok trying to get things done before things go poof.... Hugs and Love to you all.
Susan

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Morning BJ, Sounds like your going to enjoy another student next year too! That will be nice. Glad to hear you had a good time at the water park! Was it cool in there?
SOunds like most of us are pack rats. We have 2 storage sheds outside, and they are all full of "STUFF". I have been threatening to clear it out and out it on ebay! But I know I will never get half of what I paid for someof it!, But it is not doing us any good in storage?
Later

LK

(Cindy) Auburn, CA(Zone 10a)

We have severe rain storm heading our way coming from San Francisco and it is in the yellow and red which is BAD!!! I gotta go outside and see what could get damaged.
