Garden Photos of '09......#5

This year...............

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

I am just seeing the green thingies on my crocus... went and wondered this morning.. a few hyacinth poking up now too

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I have hyacinth poking too.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Well yes...this fall

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

snow here - still - really getting the inch for spring have a lot of projects to do

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Established tulips poking up south side of the house.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Wow, they're strong!

Clinton, CT(Zone 6b)

Didn't know hyacinths came up so early. Guess I should remove the mulch?

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

I never tyoed so much in my life since I joined DG a yeay ago next month.

South Hamilton, MA

The ice has partially broken a big branch on the Nova Zembla rhodie at the corner of the house. DH has it proped up, but I am afraid it will go. It will really be a downer since branches had to be cut because of borer & if this one is lost the blooms will all be at the top.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Oh - sorry to hear that, Lucy.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

Always sad when aged rhodies are stricken.
Fingers crossed for you.

I hear you.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

oh looky looky... we have poppige!

Nice! Think that's a vulture.

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

Onewish1, contorted filbert, very, very funny, parallel universes, parallel forums. I looked up and shot this today when I was still giggling about filberts. I just liked the silhouette. Patti

Maybe the birds are looking for filberts.

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

This is a cool site of hawk silhouettes

Nice. I think the 'T' vs. the cross is real stretch.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

The silhouette site is cool....so according to that looks like your bird, Allison, is some time of falcon or a sharp shinned hawk or an osprey or.....????

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I'll just say bird.

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

Onewish1, My DH says yours is not a TV, but mine is. He said look at the bump in the wing joint. He was raised by a serious birder. But he could be wrong. I agree, "Bird" will do. Patti

dahlianut....all time favorite. I was born too late. River City circa 1912 would have been perfect. Only thing we have now I would want back then is penicillin.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

No internet?

Clinton, CT(Zone 6b)

I'll give up the internet for the ice cream socials.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I might go along with that too.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

wow Patti... he can tell from a bump ??? that's impressive

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

Just look at the wing curve. If it has no bump at the curve and is sort of straight, that means something to him. Not me. He likes things with bumps in the front. Patti

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

So is it a hawk then?

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

just looked at the other shots... don't have a better one

might want to send him to the other thread talking about bumps like that

Pretty white iris on bloom.com.

Thomaston, CT

Golden eagle? Could be migrating. Clem & buddleia photos very nice! I prune my budds in April---tricky suckers in zone 5---I never know until late spring if they've made it or not.

Mona in Metcalfe, ON(Zone 5a)

ya like me its mid june before anything happens with them just like the rose of sharon and the trumpet vines, they are all late in coming out of dormancy

South Hamilton, MA

I like it when irises have substance like that--don't know that particular one, but then we don't grow many tall bearded, prefering the smaller ones.
