I wonder how Dead Heads feel about deadheading ......

Nice Clem Combo!

Nice but I hate pink.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

for once it was not an accident.... I actually thought about it before planting... which is a shock

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

oh well... I am sure someone else has non pink ones to egg you on

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

Victor, are you saying I have an ugly bottom? I just hide mine with lilies. But after reading this I would say some of my Buddleja better beware. Now the big question is spelling Buddlejaceae either Buddleja or Buddleia? I can't spell anything so I have come up with a few of my own, I am always confused about it. My DH calls it 'Amelia Bedelia' after a delightfully silly series childrens book full of idioms or homonyms by Peggy Parrish. My son loved them, my DH more. Patti

Onewish1, I say I am not a "pink" person, but I do grow many and that one is delicious! Name? Patti

Just call them Budds! Very nice Allison, and I love pinks.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

i have not had any luck with buddleia - they always die back or die completely - if they do come back they are leggy - i think i'll try victors method this year and see what happens - i also find they send little seedlings out although they do not seem to survive

budds works as long as it before 3pm or people will think you are drinking beer victor ahahhahahah

I have had a few varieties turn out to be very invasive. One is 'Bicolor'.

Mona in Metcalfe, ON(Zone 5a)

live and learn that is the way

I now do more research on plants before I let them loose in the garden but before I had internet I made big mistakes that cost me many hours days months years or work to get them out of my garden hahhahaha

I usually prune all my bushes when they are done blooming for the year so they will make new buds for the fallowing year it only takes a few weeks for them to look good again and they are much healthier when trimed every year

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

This combo is what the plant looked like one month new and in September.
It leaped the first year.

that is the problem with zone 5 if I dont cut mine to 8 inches or so it will not survive the winter so it never get real big only about three feet tall and a few blooms

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

The compost is the secret. I put it in with mulch and mixed it into the clay soil we have.

Thanks, I planted "Polish Spirit' last summer. I hope I get some good color this year from it, though I know they are a slow go. I planted it to dance with 'Madame Julia Correvon' which might be a bit much! I may have to order Lyon as your picture really sells it. Patti

my polish spirit got huge last year... I bought a new trellis to replace the small one that was there... it got so big it pulled the sucker right out of the ground

Victor...don't digital cameras add so much to gardening? Nurseries should give them away for free.

You bet!

David_Paul. You win my contest for the first crocus of the year! And for being on the ground with Victor. Patti
