Mid Atlantic gardens not complete without our furry pals

Carlisle, PA(Zone 6b)

My Fritzie loves the greenhouse. He even hammed it up when I was trying to take a picture of this Scarborough Lily.

Here is my King of The Garden - "Bupkus" our schnauzer. We rescued him about three months ago. He is a wonderful gardener. I think he is trying to grow a "bone" plant. He loves to bury and dig up the same bone over and over again.

WHAT A FACE!!! I LOVE the Bupkus!!!

What size is he? He looks pretty big(?).

Baltimore, MD

Thanks!!! He is a good eater and is about 20-22lbs now. Just a puppy... he was born in July of last year.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

kissable for sure

Falls Church, VA(Zone 7b)

Buttoneer--Fritzie's a charm. Looks like a great companion to have for the greenhouse.

Ooohh, Bupkus is adorable!! I just love reggedy dogs!! Never heard a name such as his, but it seems to stick on him. LOL!!

Shenandoah Valley, VA

That Remy! He is hamming it up, isn't he? LOL "I'm cuter than a lily, Mom."

What a cutie pie Bupkus is. I think schnauzers are adorable. He looks just delighted to be alive.

Just realized I have the wrong name. That should be That Fritzie above. boing

I love seeing everyone's furry garden companions! Here are my 'kids' Dakota and Zoe, they are Rhodesian Ridgebacks!

Oh my, they are gorgeous, I_G! Not an easy breed to train, from what I've been told by a friend with one.

I love the pups & the house!

Great pic of Dakota and Zoe

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

nice pups Idy.... don't think I have ever seen that breed before

Highland, MD(Zone 7a)

wrightie actually they are incredible smart so the training is easy, but they can be incredibly hard headed lol sometimes! I'm just glad that they learned not to dig holes and that they stay out of my flowers, well except for the occasional eating of my cone flowers lol..

Metro DC, MD(Zone 7a)

Yes, my friend who had one is a bomb dog trainer & handler and he commented that he liked the challenge of her 'stubborness'. She was a great dog.

we have an RR pal at the dog park and boy does she run!

Shenandoah Valley, VA

Such pretty dogs. One of the girls at the vet's office had the most adorable part RR puppy a few months ago. He was a total lovebug.

Highland, MD(Zone 7a)

They are sweethearts once you are part of the pack, which with Dakota happens pretty quick, Zoe though is a bit picker lol, but once she deems you worthy watch out the kisses with her come freely and profusely! She's a cuddle bug, wants to get in your lap, though at 90 lbs that is a bit much lol!

Shenandoah Valley, VA

When I was there, she had just gotten this puppy and he was kissing me all over the place. LOL She later told me he's a handful, though, which I guess goes back to the bullheadedness.

Falls Church, VA(Zone 7b)

I think I've seen those dogs before but I didn't know what breed they were. They are lovely creatures, yes.

Cute and handsome, respectively!

What cute pictures and I agree, Wall-e has grown into one handsome dog! Here's one of Phoebe last weekend that a friend took. She was our official greeter for the Open House and after the first hour she was beat!

Lexington, VA(Zone 6a)

Other than the weight, she IS looking good if I do say so myself :) She's traveling to Maine with me next week and will be visiting the ocean for the first time! I'll plan to get some photos and share them :)

THOSE I'll definitely be looking forward to!!

Great pictures of all the pups - beautiful babes!

Great thread and some wonderful pictures. John and I are the proud new owners of two baby La Mancha goats. They came on Thursday of last week and the only time that I have seen them is when John brought them to the house and they were in a large dog crate. The area that he built temporarily for them, is too dangerous for me to try to get to and see them yet. They are certainly on my mind a lot and I was amazed with how I automatically fell in love with the little boogers. So cute.

John took some pictures of them yesterday and I am going to try and get them on here and show them. So, off to work with the camera for a bit. Will return with pictures soon.

Can't wait to see a pic of them, Ruby.

CAN"T WAIT! you know , or don't, I have this goat fascination-from-afar. Their soft yet weird eyes...Their oh-so appropriate to the garden poo pellets

Hmmmmm...........Sally, I don't think that either John or I have thought of the poo for plants factor. He hasn't mentioned it anyway. Thanks for reminding us that it can be used for something. These little guys are only about the size of a large cat though truthfully in these pictures they look as though they might have doubled in size since last Thursday.

Ahem.... I would like to introduce you all to our newest family members. Ladies and gents, this is Jethro Brown and Homer White. Their last names are so we can remember who is who by their colors.

aaaaawwwww so cute

Ruby and John, You have such cute kids. If you are planning to spend a lot of time with them, you and they will bond, goats can be as lovable and loyal as hand raised puppies. They are curious by nature and can cause some mischief, some of their antics are story material and great photo ops. I had goats for 30some years and loved most of them. I even had a pair of preemies, by by bedside for weeks to feed them ever 4 hours for a while, we all survived. LOL These critters are Gods own weed eaters. They will stand in knee deep grass and bawl if they can't reach the weeds. They ravish multi flora rose, green (cat) brier, and poison ivy. Letting a milker eat poison ivy and drinking the raw milk is supposed to give you some immunity, which I believe to be true. Raw goats milk is supposed to be one of the most easy to digest and sometimes the only milk some babies can handle, even better that Mama's. Be forewarned, if they get loose, you will know what they like. They can strip a rose bed rather quickly, after all they are ruminants and don't have to stop till they have a full tank. LOL Enjoy Ric
