Hi All;
Just got back from vacation, had a wonderful time, of course i met linda from daytona beach fl. we had a nice lunch & a wonderful visit, what a sweetheart she is. Was so nice to be able to meet someone from the group that i talk to.My sister took pictures on her camera, so i am waiting so i can post them. My dh took real good care of my plants & really did a good job.thank goodness.lolI did get to go to a flea market where they were selling orchids for 2.00 ea. i could not believe my eyes, all in bloom to.I did buy a few & the had to much stuff & not enough room to bring them back home. however i cna have my sister mail them to me.I bought one for linda & believe she posted a picture somewhere on here, any way it's so nice to go on vacation, but it's great to be home too.

bonnie
oops, did not get the smiley face.lol
Welcome home Bonnie! Glad to have you back in the garden! It sure was great meeting you for lunch last week. It's so much fun finally getting to meet another DG'er in person ... sure wish some of us lived closer and could get together often. I adore the orchid you gave me, it is just the prettiest color! I sure hope to get to that flea market sometime soon. It is the one my neighbors told me about! They said his plants are so healthy and so reasonably priced! Wow! It is amazing to find an orchid for $2, I've never seen one for less than $15, anywhere! hmm .... I think I'm going to have to get some spring cleaning done and make space for a few more, LOL.
Gail, the photo show was amazing!!!
mortswife,
Maybe you are thinking of rex begonias as they tend to be smaller. I can't grow them because of our heat. Cane begonias do great in the fall and early spring here. I haven't posted any of the blooms yet........waiting until they are covered in blooms. I have to cut all my canes back to the base each winter so I can make room for them on the front porch during the winter. They can get humongous .
Here are a few pictures I took of the last Seguin trip.......of begonias
Oh, RainGazer, your AV's are going great!
Gail - as usual, your blooms are beautiful!
My plants are enduring so much neglect this week, I could almost cry.

Gran, I forgot you are the begonia queen! They had so many beautiful begonias in Seguin.
Hey mortswife...I got fibro fog, too :) Fibromites unite! LOL Lots of good healing in gessies, gardening and all things green, don't you think?
Jacki
You got that right, Jacki. It's the one thing I enjoy doing that doesn't require a whole lot of thinking; assuming I never drop the plants. I make plenty of mess with potting soil!
Several days ago I turned around and fell into the corner of the cupboard. I have a dandy bruise right on the shoulder joint. Sound familiar?
We will not be defeated, right?
There really is a large group of people on the AV forum with fibromyalga (sp?). I only know one friend who is an acquaintance with this horrible disease. I agree with you that gardening and all things green help us all through any ailment.
Oh yeah, that sounds very familiar! Actually the way I lost virtually all of my av's was because of a wicked flare that just seemed to go on and on... I just couldn't keep up.
Used to be a lot of people with chronic health conditions were on DG's. I'm sure there still is. Growing flowers is such a joy and it can be as simple or as complicated (or as obsessive!) and you make it. A great antidote to feeling crappy. :) I always feel better with my hands in dirt and my eyes on a flower!
