Ahhh - the date. The salmon was very good and so was the date. I had decided to cook instead of going out because I knew he was coming directly from the airport after a long flight and would be tired. It was raining and cold so I gave him wine and sat him by the fire. It was a very nice night. :)))
The "Frosty Stuff" ....#3
Oh my, that sounds very nice.
It was very nice and a peaceful evening. But every time I meet a man I think I will like I find out more about him and then don't like him so much. That's the tough part about being single!
Lavish him with praise and affection and then dump him when he's not looking.
Poor Tills, hope you're sleeping well.
Judi, it sounded very romantic! Happy to hear how nice it was.
Melissa, I agree! LOL!

It had to be the drugs, I went back and reread it. Sounds better now Kinda, Who are we putting in a cage???
I do love the pic, wish I had the area you live in always something cool to see.
I am feeling better, Thank you. Hope you are to Shelly. I hate colds.
Steve Cute suit LOL
I have a game for you, Where's Sassy. I looked at this pic I don't how many times and just now seen her. Must have been the drugs.
Don't say where she is, just say you found her,.

I found her! Blends right in doesn't she? Glad you're feeling better Tills. I hate colds too!!
Steve.......????
What kind of interpretations can we come with for that picture from Steve?
Steve - you are so right - well, almost. Not all men are perfect but we really shouldn't expect them to know what we're thinking. We are our own worst enemy. Maybe because we are so much more complex?
Amen Portland.
The picture was taken in Sitka and I am picking up an anchor from some old Russian ship from the days of Baranof. Martian work dressed in local clothing, brown boots, wool pants and warm hat.
I am faking like I am picking it up see the chain on the right.

Glad it was you, not me. LOL I need a Martian for that kind of work.
lol..... that's funny!
Tilly I'm so glad to hear that you're feeling better. That's fantastic news!
Thanks for asking Tilly. I'm getting there. I've progressed to feeling "flu like" instead of strep throat with a sinus infection. One of my ears finally opened up today, which is fantastic! And maybe best of all, one of my co-workers said that I finally looked human today. lol. so that's good. However, I worked 10 hours today and feel like it was at least 16. I'm hopeful that tomorrow will feel like a 12 hour day or something close.
Steve, you're a crack up.
Steve, great pic, you're a hoot! Have you ever been to Skagway? We rode the ferry from Seattle to Skagway, then the narrow rail train to Whitehorse, Yukon 30 yrs ago (man do I feel old all of a sudden). Unfortunately I had bronchitis and didn't really enjoy the trip the way I wanted to. Fantastic scenery during the whole trip.
Mary, I found her! Glad you're feeling better too!^_^

I figured you had. I definitely agree, it's gorgeous up there. Would love to go back. When we stopped at Ketchikan, we had a 45 min layover so we got off the ferry and cruised through the village on one of ours motorcycle's. They were getting off there and traveling the rest of the way on land, so we made short trips until we had to get back on and tell our friends good bye.
Great pic!

Gardener tell more about the ferry to Skagway. How long does it take? A few years ago I took my parents on a cruise to Alaska for my dad's 90th birthday and I really want to go back but the cruise ships are not my thing. My parents had a great time but I enjoyed being with them but will never get on a big cruise ship again.
Sofer beautiful beautiful photo.
I'm not sure the exact route they took, but they did go from Ketchikan inland to the Alcan Hwy. They were on motorcycles. I may be blonde, getting older and sometimes forgetful, but that I DO REMEMBER!!! LOL!!!
The ferry was neat, we stayed on the top deck in the Solarium in sleeping bags. There was 8 of us, my parents, 2 other couples (that left the boat at Ketchikan) and Mike and I. We left Seattle at night (that was pretty) made a few stops at several villages, I think it took about 5 days, then we stayed in Skagway a couple of nights, rode the train to Whitehorse, Yukon and stayed there a couple of nights then flew to Vancouver, BC, had a layover there for an hr I think, then flew to Seattle. We were gone a total of 2 weeks. If it was me I would call a travel agency and find out, or just go to google and type in ferry's from Seattle to Skagway.

That's was such an interesting trip there Susan. A gal that I worker with for 7 or 8 years actually grew up in Skagway and part of her family still lives there. She had quite a few interesting stories about growing up there. really only interesting to us since it was such a different way of life in the winter. She thought that they were pretty boring stories. Shortly after she graduated from high school she left and never went back!
I was wrong about where they rode to, it wasn't the Alcan Hwy it was Banff, then into Montana.
Thank you Shelly, we had a ball. We got to see all kinds of wildlife too while on the ferry. That's interesting about your former co-worker, but after being there I can understand why she left, there's nothing there for a young girl to do. During the winter months, the town basically shuts down until spring.
Susan105
That was pretty much what she said. It definitely shut down in the winter. She played basketball and said that all of their games were on Saturdays since they would have to fly to the town that they were playing during the day, play the game(s) that night, stay the night with the members of the opposing team, and then fly home the next day. I can't imagine!
Winter is only a time to linger and talk. If you take the ferry up say from Bellingham it is 3 days to Ketchikan then two more to Juneau and overnight to Skagway. The nice thing about traveling the ferry is with a kayak or bike or scooter you can get off and back on at no additional cost. Each place has its millions of trails to hike, fishing to do, food to eat, beers to drink, beaches and parks to camp in and scenery that will blow you mind. You have to get away from the tourist traps and see Alaska. During the trip you need to make friends with people and read, write or do arithmetic.
Sorry I was not trying to give you a hard time Susan. I apologise.
This is a short kayak trip that I went on with some people from Juneau. Caught a salmon and cooked it on the beach over a bottle of Pino Grigeo.
No need to apologise, I didn't feel like you were giving me a hard time. Geeze, I'm not that thin skinned!!! LOL! Great pic!
Susan105
Steve, you amaze me. Jack of all trades but a master at one. LOL Your true love.
Thanks All, I have had the popping ears too. Can't hear them I hear too LOUD, then back to can't.
Glad you like the pic was hard to see her.
Glad our two sickies are on the mend!! Don't get a relapse!!
Really nice pictures sofer, that looks like such a peaceful little village.
That looks like my idea of paradise. How do they get supplies in the winter? The hot spring sounds wonderful!
And that's the 'cabin'? Looks like a perfect place to be.
And what is DW going to be doing while you're hiking with the bears? Hot spring sounds marvelous! What's the weather like in the summer?
I hope you and your wife have a great an amazing vacation. I think I remember you saying a while ago that she doesn't like to travel so much so take care of her!
Great pictures Sofer. What a great place..... in the summer!
it is a great place in the summer (temps 65 70) and sometimes winter also. I have seen all of them. my dw does like to travel but infrequently. I know she will love the peace and quiet of alaska.
Can you get to that village with a dog and does your boss rent the cabin to others? It truly looks so wonderful.
yes we will take our dogs. and no he does not rent. it is kind of a no rental town. I know all his neighbors because they are clients. that would allow a neighbor relationship.
That looks like the perfect place.
