After the Bird Count, my goldfinches seemed to disappear. I had this one show up today and you can see that he is beginning to show his yellow!

Lovely birds everyone! Bebop that nuthatch photo is outstanding! What a pretty bird.
Pelle all the photos you posted are wonderful and that one with seed between the Chickadee feet is really special.
Panamon you saw some gorgeous birds, thanks for sharing your beautiful photos.
crazybirdlady51, do you have the goldfinch year round? I usually only see them with their winter colors.

The birds are really filling the air with song/noise around here. The Thrashers sound so pretty, there seem to be more Cactus Wrens this year and they just call and call (not singing). Rudy is still coming everyday and he has started greeting me with a coo sound like he made with his babies, lol it makes me feel great.
This Ruby-crowned Kinglet - Regulus calendula took a bath and then preened for a bit. He never sits still. I can hear his little call but I hardly ever catch sight of him.

Also, after the Bird Count, it seemed that the White-Throated Sparrows appeared in droves! Here's one that was partially leucacistic (albino)

Here is a pic of the bird that put my place on the birders tour a few years ago. Although these birds don't belong at this latitude, this Red-breasted Sapsucker showed up here one morning at first light in early spring and stayed around for about a month. He would show up every morning at first light, not to feed here, but to hammer away at my metal roofed lean-to. Of course here in Alaska we gain 5-6 minutes of daylight each day, so this meant he was showing up that much earlier every morning. haha I almost lost my renter over this guy. By the end of the month he spent here, he was showing up and hammering very loudly at 4:30 am. I assume he was trying to drum up a mate.

He would hammer the roof for a few minutes.....

No, Angele, I don't have the Goldfinches year round. I have them in the winter, not in large flocks, but just enough. Then they usually disappear in Feb/Mar and return in April/May in their bright spring plumage. THen they go away again in the summer.

Seward, AK(Zone 7b)

Then he would look and listen for a mate to answer.....

Sorry, avaeds, didn't mean to step on your posts. That is so strange that your sapsucker would bang on metal! I bet that was annoying.

Seward, AK(Zone 7b)

But no dice, finally he gave up and moved on, never to be seen again.

Here is a shot of him from my upstairs bedroom window. It's not a clear pic, but it shows the yellow belly. What beautiful colors on this bird. I'd love to see one again.

Great pics everyone!

PC, I love the Red-breasted Nuthatch!

cb, Nice pics! Glad the goldies came in for the count!

Angele, Love the Kinglet!

Ava, What a beautiful but annoying Sapsucker! (4:30 am!!! Forget it!!!)

South Hamilton, MA

We don't have a bird which is that spectacular banging away, the the downy woodpeckers do a good job on the eaves of the house. They are not metal however.

Seward, AK(Zone 7b)

I have lots of Downys and Hairys, but with all the suet feeders I have, they don't seem to want to pick on the house too much. Of course the cedar siding is oil treated, so that might be the deterring factor there. But they do pick holes in the fence posts to stash their goodies in. It's kinda fun to watch them do that.

While I was out back yesterday I started looking over the fence for the
Golden-crowned Kinglet; instead I saw this Yellow-rumped Warbler. These were the best pics I could manage.

Such nice pics from everyone!

Angele, I have noticed the bird songs have really increased over the last couple of weeks. The woodpeckers are drumming more in the mornings too.

Have been over run by starlings again with the last couple of cold days.

Awesome pics everyone!! Love seeing some of the different birds you guys get!!

Pelle the one of the chickadee is great!
PanamonCreel I agree the RBN is a beauty.

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

I sure wish this photo would have turned out better! I had just come in from walking the dog, walked into the family room looking out the window. I spot something different right off on the feeder and grabbed the camera. But beteewn the overcast conditions and my Transition Lens still in the transition....I could not get the camera setting right!!!

Anyway, long way of saying the Purple Finch was here again yesterday!!

Beautiful photos everyone. I really enjoyed seeing all of them.
Bebop, love your Nuthatch and Goldfinch.
Pelle, that close-up of the Red Bellied is beautiful.

This juvenile Bald Eagle has been "sitting and just looking" on a pine tree below our house each day and just a little too far for my lenses.

There were five Mourning Doves (one was a little farther away on the railing) around the feeder and enjoying the early morning sun.

Lovely pictures everyone, love the Nuthatches, and the Red-bellied Woodpecker.
Had my pc reformatted by DS. Works much faster, now.
Hasn't been very sunny lately, pictures are pretty gloomy. More snow on the way.

The Evening Grosbeaks comes mostly in the mornings, here's a few of them.
