Any ideas when they might move on? They are so tame and sweet, they just eat too much! GM
Daily Pics Vol. 184
2vernes, I was just looking in a bird book that I received for Christmas and it confirms what Resin said about differentiating between male and female Cedar Waxwings. It says, "They can be sexed on the basis of the black plumage present under the bill --this is more extensive in cock birds." It also says that the red tips "resemble sealing wax." Hope that's helpful.
BTW, nice pics everybody! Nanny, a Cooper's Hawk landed in the tree right above me this morning. I took two pics but I was looking into the morning sun, so they are just silhouettes. Love your pics though.
Nice ones GM! They'll probably leave within a month.
Nanny, I printed out Mapquest directions from NJ to IN and hung them on the feeders for the pine siskins!!!!!!!! LOL!!
I hope so pelle!!!!!!
OK burn! They are all yours!
I wish the Goldfinch were as friendly as the Siskins.
Thanks for understanding my excitement over the Pileated. Most of my friends would not have a clue what I was so excited about. Nice to be able to share....
That Hairy woodpecker is SOOOO cute peeking around the feeder.
Our piliated's favorite birch tree, full of its drummed holes, fell over last summer. I know he is down the hill in the woods, but afraid since that tree bit the dust, will not come where it can be seen. I can only hope it finds another nearby tree.
Great pix all.
Time for the next volume already!
