Less than 30 days now!! Spring is around the corner!

Mona in Metcalfe, ON(Zone 5a)

hey only 4 days left for spring on the calendar that is lol hahahhaha

Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

I am so glad I am not alone... I drove all the way to work thinking of what I want to plant this year...

everyone was asking me what where the scratches on my face and my hand and arms... oh, I laughed and said I was just playing with roses.... yeah, it does not bother me... so you see, I am a bit crazy...
It's trully a basic need for me... hopefully; one of my co-worker that did landscape design before becoming a full time nurse will be really nice to me and come and help me fix some areas of my garden... I am praying that I will find grace before her eyes and she will have mercy and offer some help.. lol...

Shelburne Falls, MA(Zone 5a)

Good luck, Kassia.

This should drive us wild. I went to the Smith College Bulb Show today. Of course I wandered in the other rooms, too.

Sooooo pretty!

South Hamilton, MA

Lovely show. At least our gardens are still to come, even though everything looks like tips of green at the moment.

Had to spread some deer scram around somethings munching on the tips of my growing bulbs.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

I love the little girl taking pictures.
I was looking at emerging tulips and noticed a few munched so I sprayed Liquid Fence and the next day I could swear there were more gone, so I mixed a fresh batch and did the whole yard including areas where hostas grow.
They arent up yet but might as well discourage deer now before they find the plants.

Rockport, ME(Zone 5b)

Wow, Boojum, those pictures were delicious. I have to ask, the very last picture, is that an Ameryllis surrounded by daffodils that mirror it's coloring? Or have I just been out of the gardening game too long??

Shelburne Falls, MA(Zone 5a)

I think you mean the peach and white split cup daffodil? I'm pretty sure it's N. Cum Laude which I ran out to buy 2 years ago after this show!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Great series, Kathy! Thanks. Can't wait to get to the Orchid Show at the NYBG.

HAPPY SPRING, ALL MY FRIENDS!!!!!! I can feel your excitement, and I'm feeling it here too. You'd think I wouldn't find it so exciting since I've had my hands in the dirt (and mulch today!) for months, BUT, just the idea that my northern friends are finally getting some gardening hope makes me excited for you all!

Today was actually quite an exciting day, gardening-wise and "spring-wise" here too. First, on our morning walk, we were surrounded by a huge flock of hundreds of migratory cedar wax-wings. I'd have given anything to have my camera handy. They were all over 2 cuban laurel trees just above our heads.....beautiful!! Plus - my dwarf (not really) patio Meyer Lemon finally has its first flowers on it after a whole year without any! AND, my second bottle brush tree that was practically dead after being knocked over in a storm in the fall is LOADED with beautiful red blooms! Thirdly, my yellow mandevilla vines finally have their first blooms following my "extreme" pruning when we arrived in October. Finally, my yellow elder has its first bloom as well. You can just feel the excitement in the air here. Oh yeah.....one last exciting update, both of my orchids are about to pop with their blooms. It must be getting near Easter time!!!

Here's a shot of my "Fort Myers" hibiscus blooming today.....Happy Spring!!!!!

How exciting, Louise. That's a lot of waxwings. I imagine that was quite a sight!!!
Sounds like an especially nice 'spring' day for you.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Beautiful, Louise! Can't wait to see the orchids?

South Hamilton, MA

Spring is supposed to be here, also. Will someone please tell Mother Nature?

Shelburne Falls, MA(Zone 5a)

Lucy, we have spring happening a few hours away from you. The snow is melting and the primroses are obvious. Some of the historic irises in the sun are up 5 inches. I took a walk and was surrounded by lots of robins flying up from "worming" the hayfield next door to our house.

South Hamilton, MA

Growl, growl it's 34 here, so please send spring eastward.

Mona in Metcalfe, ON(Zone 5a)

happy spring everyone!!!!!
