Guess your right.
We have a state senator who was an mid level exec. with Xerox.
15 years ago his daughter( a highschool kid from the burbs) was buying drugs in the parkinglot of a subb mall and was abducted with her car and shot.
Her father was treated to the last words she spoke while begging for her life. and screaming to be let go,this included the shot that killed her.
He was so outraged at the loose gun controle laws in this state,he ran for the senate and has been a champion for more guncontrole ever since.
He left his secure job to go into politics and has been there ever since.I dont know if it was an even trade as far as income goes.
I agree, you live on the edge Sherrie, Its scarry to not know when your income will come to a hault.
We tend to make different choices and survive as best as we can.
Your great attitude is a big help as shown in your posts on DG.
Less than 30 days now!! Spring is around the corner!
well maybe he should have kept track of his daughter, I use to get my son by ear and force him home, we use to get into the really bad arguments when he was a teen
it was all worth it since he is now turning 22 this year and may not be perfect but still alive so the way I see it I did my job and succeeded as a parent lol
what ever you do always know where your kids are and never take their word for anything make sure they are where they say check up on them all the time and get to know the friends ever when you cant stand them, and nevler allow the rules to be broken and demand respect it is your right as a good parent to have it
Ive been there believe it or not. Raised four girls alone, never knew when the support checks would just disappear.
my son was 11 when I got married and I had two babies in two years and I found the time and made the effort to go out and find him at curfew and check up on what he was up to it was not easy DH was working six days a weeks and didnt get home till 9 pm every night but I would make sure my son was home.
and I will do the same with the girls now 9 and 10 they talk about when are they going to be allow to go out I just say dont think about it because it is not going to happen lol never hahhahahah
We are going to have a nice taste of spring tomorrow around here! so happy snow will be melting! so dirty outside...
always fun Sherrie... be careful
sounds like a good plan
I know what you you mean ge1836....dirty snow IS depressing! We still have about 3 feet of it here! This upcoming week is suppose to be mild so hopefully we can get rid of a lot of it. I think we will be having some flooding this year....so much snow to melt.
Have fun bossing those men around Sherrie!
Where are you Dawn?
my windows are open, the garage door is also open so the poor roses can get some fresh warmer air... and be ready for spring... if they make it, I am telling you they are the best... really the best...
I loved seeing your roses, Kassia! They are all so beautiful. I hope they all make it through the winter unharmed.
thanks Louise... I hope they make it... I just walked outside today and I see some die back but not as much as I antecipated... the thing is I did not protect them at all this year! but it's life... lets see what happens!
Good luck, Kassia! How is the weather up there today where you are?
Glorious on the western end of MA!
Yay, Kathy! How nice to see you posting. I was wondering how you were doing just this morning. Good timing! How have you been this winter?
Louise
Hi Louise!!!
I've sorta zipped through the winter. I was deficient in Vit D last year, so I think the supplements helped me stay quite chipper this winter! I just eyeballed the gentian seeds on the windowsill in the barn hallway and thought of you. One of my big goals is to have a Round Up here maybe in June when the sib irises are in peak. When are you back north? Patti (bbrookrd) and her DH are coming for dinner tonight. I called her in VT to see when she was coming and we talked for over an hour about bulbs and primroses! Even though we will see each other later! They have been here many times now. They will tour the orchid rooms here. The orchids are spring crazy. So far I've watered orchids and am half way through hoyas, amaryllis, epis, and etc. I've repotted an orchid, vacuumed water out of the trays, walked up the hill with my spleenless dog (doesn't seem to know he had major surgery on Thurs), used a new scanner to send info to the orchid thread, brainstormed what to do for our snowplowed mailbox, listened to fragments of ancient Greek poetry (in my sweetie's voice) and Bach. So cultured here!!
How was your winter? Did you get that awful frost??
Nice to hear from you again Booj
Hi Kathy. Glad to hear you're doing well. Please say hello to Patti for me. The only June weekend that I know for sure we won't be around is the weekend of June 12th. That would be great if you do have one in June. I'd sure try to come!!
Our winter has been nice down here - on the cool side, but I've liked that. We did get temps in the high 20s twice, but we covered the fragile plants and even though I had some damaged leaves on other things, I didn't lose anything. We sadly lost our little dog, Molly, 2 weeks ago, and we are still having some aching hearts with some days ok and others, like today, with that physical hurt that makes you take deep breaths, but almost 16 years of her devotion and sweetness and amazing intelligence were such a blessing and I'm trying to focus on that today.
Have you had a lot of snow this winter or just terribly cold temps?
We've had some of both. So far I haven't had to slide to work-my most dreaded activity. So sorry to hear about Molly. We haven't heard back about the biopsy of Boojum's spleen yet and I am already a mess. Dogs are so necessary!
Good luck with Boojum, Kathy!

yes best wishes!
Ha ha. That's a great typo, Victor!!! Or did you do that to cheer me up you sly devil!
Hee hee - I caught it!
Best of luck with Boojum's biopsy, Kathy! Tonight's daily wish at sunset as the sun sets over the River will be for him. Do you have to do anything medically for him after the removal of his spleen?...........Yes, dogs are necessary....that's a good way to put it. Life isn't nearly as sweet without our special beloved pets. Thanks for your kind thoughts about our loss of Molly.
:)
Shoot Victor, put that back!!
11 more days and spring will be here I cant wait
weather today is strange its snowing but the sun is out lol its like it can not make up its mind what it wants to do
sat and sun was amazing tshirt weather and bbq I need more of those days
Lots of snow here in Southern Vt. Still coming down, very pretty. But I think I am really ready for the bulb show to begin.
DH and I were lucky and went to a private orchid show yesterday at Boojum's. Plus we were given a divine dinner. All fun, but after all our chatter about iris, roses, primroses and ladyslippers, I am so ready for some serious playing outside. Cabin fever has set in for sure. Patti
Snow today. Client cancelled so I'm doing professional development (reading and answering quests online).
Same happened to me Patti. I've been good up till now when I didn't have anyone to talk plants to. But it was like we were exploding with plant thoughts. Pandora's box. I will tell DBF that you loved your meal. He really is a great cook! How did I luck out???? I hate to cook!
2nd batch of snow has arrived--gucky, wet stuff. It better melt tomorrow. I spent some time this afternoon going through the 'seedling book' & listing the pink SDB seedlings; actual pink ones, not the other colors from pink breeding. Noted which have pollen, although the pollen bearing one with no takes last year, will be used as a pod parent. I took a look at their slide pictures through my small viewer. Keeping an eye on form, I might use them better this spring. As strange as it may seem they don't all bloom at once.
snow has stopped at about a quarter inch and now is melting looks like its finished for now
Still coming down here. there seemed to be snow action along the MA-NH border.
Great picture!
Thank you, Iris! I've been looking at this lovely image all my life and never get tired of it. I missed a gorgeous shot a couple of nights ago when 2 ducks were silhouetted in front of the sunset very close to the seawall. I didn't have my camera with me. Drat!
dont you know that you should never step outside without the camera that is when everything happens lol if you leave it home hahhahahahah I learned my lesson long time ago hahhaha
Thank you so much Louise. I'm sure that will help Boojum be healthy-I'll show it to him!
