Jen, at least the pot was empty, and looks like the table top is not broken.
Here is my fence.
Anyone else see spring peeking...
Ouch-ee-bubba is what we say in this house for accidents. How did your table top not break, Jen? I was afraid to buy one of those when my kids were little. It sure was gusting like crazy today! One of my trashy black leaf bags is now decorating the neighbor's tree- oops. I hope it moves along during the night- I made sure to secure the rest of them.
It must be tempered glass. How did just one panel fall???
Such weird wind, huh?
Jen I really don't know, there are heavy vinyl brackets in the top and bottom of each panel two screws go into each bracket on the posts and 4 screws go into each bracket into the panel. U guess the wind was so strong that maybe it buckeled the panel and broke the top brackets, the panel is not damaged. DH will try to find some brackets at Lowes, maybe before he comes home.
The posts are set into cement so they are not going anywhere.
Yes I lost a few decorative things that were sitting behind the shed and the one corner of the roof looks cracked. But mostly there were tools and plastic pots in there. Ric will get it back up and taken care of when the winds die down. There were several old barns and a couple of houses that lost their roofs in our area so I can't complain too much. Lady that is a shame about your fence I know that will be a bit of an inconvenience for you with your dogs. Jen lucky you didn't lose your table top must have landed just right.
Holly, when I find out when the trip to Spring Haven is, I will call you & have you meet me somewhere in Carlisle, then we can get on the turnpike & I'll drive you there. Wonderful place. One of the girls at work told me about it two years ago & she has been taking a group of us every year. Here's the link for their website:

Oof! Sorry about the shed. I was astonished this morning to see that my bird feeder shepherd's hook had blown over... I buried that deep, and covered the whole "foot" in packed pure clay, with several inches of good dirt on top of that. I thought it was about as sturdy as if it had been set in concrete! We did have some high winds here too, and I'm sure last night's rain was also a factor.
Buttoneer, Do you go to DryRun? It's one of those Amish Farms, way out there.
Never heard of it. Where is way out there? (smile) I do go to a couple in the Newville Area, Greenhill Nurseries and another one outside of Newville on 641.

Cool! Could you copy that info over to the "Let's Get Together!" thread, please? http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/948957/
I'll add it to our running list of events and get-togethers at the top.
:-)
Critter, done, thanks for reminding me. ;-) Please check out that Link from Critter. I removed this original post & reposted it on this link.
I have no problem with repeating information to make it easier to find. :-)
Speaking of which, I'm wondering if we should ask admin to "sticky" that party thread... it might be useful to have that list of dates/events easy to find, and it might be a friendly sort of thing for newcomers to see at the top of the forum, also...
?
No signs here yet... :o(
Except the nice warm weather we've been having.
I did see my first robins on Groundhog Day!
BTW Chantell... from another thread...
I love your Misco pots!
I've been using them for a couple years now
for episcias and other indoor plants!
Just didn't know it was a Misco pot til your thread,
then I looked on the bottom! *Huh? Whattya know?*
Holly - glad you're ok...kinda scary though...mercy!!!
Yea buddy - I LOVE my pots...don't think I haven't been snatchin' them as they stock them....LOL. Back in the day teh 4" size was the NEED...now I need the bigger sizes...whew and how!!
Holly, your poor shed! I hope it wasn't damaged. So glad your tabletop didn't break, Jen.
What a day we had yesterday. First, my phones went out sometime early in the afternoon. Long story short, it turned out my neighbor across the road had cut the wire coming up the pole while trimming weeds around his electric horse fence. Finally got that fixed and then about 6:30, everything - power and phone - went out.
The wind was terrific so I thought a tree had taken down both lines somewhere, but then I looked out the front door and saw a fire up by the store and the local firehouse. I knew they had been fighting a large forest fire all day a bit south of here and a lot of people had been without power for hours because of the fire. I still don't know what was burning, I could see a lot of smoke and some light from flames but not enough in the dark to figure out what exactly was going on.
It looked like they had it under control about 10 pm. The phones came back on and I saw the firetruck coming down our road, apparently heading to the creek to refill with water. Finally got power again about 11.
It was pretty scary to see that large fire so close to here. Not the first time - we had a 25 acre fire a few years ago that luckily burned a small corner of my land but not the house. The lady across the road lost her old barn in that one.
I'm sure all our local firefighters are exhausted today. What a job, trying to fight fires with that howling wind blowing and helping it spread.
OMG I can't even imagine - "they" were talking about the increased fire hazard..yikes!!!
I think I'll be glad when this winter is over, except the way things are going we'll have spring floods or frogs will fall from the sky or something.
Fires aren't that rare around here but usually they're much further away, up on the mountains in the national forest. Some dumb clucks started a large one a few years ago by setting of July 4th fireworks up there. (Smokey the Bear would have kicked their butts.) That was something to see, especially the helicopters that were used to scoop water from the river. That section of the mountain still has bare spots and scorching where the trees were burned.
Hart, that is scary. Fires are so unpredictable and in high winds, that is very bad. Ric hasn't sat it up yet the corner of the roof looks cracked but not much more than that and a few of my garden accents that were sitting behind it.
Chantell more bothersome than scary.
Ric never anchored that potting shed as we thought we might have to move it a bit when we put up the trellis. I guess we will mark out the trellis because Ric's going to get it anchored when he puts it back up. LOL
This morning around 7 am I was up drinking coffee in the living room and heard a bunch of birds outside!! There must have been several---robins and Cardinals, and maybe something else. The chirping and songs were shrill and happy--forsythia and pieris buds are swollen, and tulips and daffodils tips are about two inches above the ground right now.
Today, DH and I went to the Bon Air Memorial Garden, a veterans' memorial rose garden and walked around. It has lovely walkways and about 3 big arbors with climbing roses on it. These were new additions since I last visited several years ago. Of course, there weren't any rose blooms, but you could see buds and perennials poking up. Most of the roses there are red, so I'll have to go back in May for picture!!
Hi everyone :)
The veterans memorial garden sounds nice.
We have snowdrops for the first time. I noticed yesterday, there is a little clump of them that are up!
I also noticed we have A LOT of spring yard cleaning to do this season. We have a butterfly bush that decided to tip over with the roots half in and half out of the ground. And a split rail fence (with grape vines) that has a few falling apart fence pieces. Also, I think I'm going to have to do some serious weeding...the list goes on. I did notice nice dried seed pods on our marigolds, do you think they are viable seeds at this point?
I love how the birds seem to sing more on pretty days~~
Good gardeners appreciate gardens without blooms!
I have had poor luck with my own limited tries at growing my own found marigold seeds. But easy enough to try!!!
Yea! First bloom posted! A welcome sight for sure.
Teeny tiny red buddings on my roses.
Storm, No snow drops yet? Mine are up but not opened yet. We got snow last night, still on the ground tonight.
Clay, I didn't check my WS seeds today, it has just been to cold, don't think anything is happening yet.
I'll have to take pics in the AM of what I saw as I was running out this AM...the vincas getting her little periwinkle flowers and believe it or not one of my Queen Charlotte violas from all those warm temps last week no doubt
I am so ready for Spring I was delighted to see this group. Pictures are great and it makes me feel alive again. I thought this was a difficult winter and I am old.
I have a field of daffodils that I cut and sell to people who do floral designs and some of the little ones are peeping up. The hybrids are still sleeping. I have pussy willows, the regular and the black. I cut some black for a customer the other day and could not resist bringing some indoors for me to watch. They come out first a deep burgandy and as they get older they turn black. A close up of them is attached. Enjoy. Oh yes, I have seen several Robins too. Spring is just around the corner I HOPE! JB
Nice JB, I just put in some Black Pussywillow last year. Hopefully it will bloom for me this spring.
When I got mine, they were tiny and I planted them outside the very first year. They did well until the rabbits found them. Well, I went wild because just overnight one night all but one plant was down to the roots. The next year we fenced them in. This year we sprayed the stuff to keep the rabbits away but they still ate some of them. They must taste as pretty as they look. Good luck with yours. I hopeyou enjoy them as much as I do.
I was raised in Lancaster County, PA.
You could put plastic tubing around the bottom of the plants (like they do when they are starting trees & y ou see that white or green tubing the plants look like them were planted in.) That might keep the rabbits away. As for myself, I use mothballs, just sprinkle them around where you don't want the rabbits & they will stay away. Also, FYI, I did some wintersowing today. Trying that for the first time. I sowed: Spanish hyacinth, Jerusalem sage, Tree mallow, Agapanthus, Conanthera trimaculata (from Chile), Malva Braveheart, Garlic Chives and Winter Sweet Shrub. We'll see what happens.
Black pussy willows....ohhhh they look gorgeous!!!!
Hi JBerger! Like those black pussy willows. My neighbor has a regular white one. in a pretty shady spot. One year he decided to cut it all down. It hardly had blooms anyway. I swear, it slept for a whole year, and THEN finally regrew! Surprising.
I have a couple of hardware-cloth cylinders for a few bunny appetizers.
~~
I'm also seeing more daffy fingers waving, and fat buds on lilac baby. I have some Forsythia on the windowsill.
