that's terrible
Coffee Break # 4 Waiting on Spring!
Very sad news, indeed .... The accident happened about 5 miles northeast of the airport, and I am about 1 mile southwest of the airport.
This is our first commercial plane tragedy. About 35 years ago we had a small, private plane crash into a house much closer to me, less than a mile. I was like 5.
Our community is sure to rally around all the families and show them why we are called the "City of Good Neighbors"
glad you are ok Willie
Terrible news to wake up to. Especially so shortly after the Hudson miracle.
Thanks! I heard all the local sirens go past.
Truly heart-wrenching to watch the newscasts show family members arrive to the airport and be escorted around to the back. Hard to watch the hope fall out of these fine folk.
Any idea of what brought the plane down? Horrible---I hate to fly, & when I hear news like this, it just reinforces it.
There is a theory icing had something to do with it
Still much safer to fly than to walk down the street. Should not fear flying. Though, the fleet is getting pretty old.
I am guessing ice, too.
There was one eye witness who claimed the plane was flying with one wing pointing to the ground, not level.
Heart-wrenching!
How terrible that one of the victims was a 9/11 widow.
that is terrible
Very horrible news.
They had a new story last night about 6 foot stemmed roses they imported from Ecuador for V-day anyone see it?

Friday the 13th....has nothing with the septic tank needing to be dug up today, it's just part of my continuing good luck.
wow - you do have a streak going - time to end it.
Jeeze - what's left, Celeste?!!
No kidding {{{{{Pixie}}}}}
Yikes!!! HUGS
Man - sending some good karma your way. Best to you guys. Wish I lived closer.
Celeste, you really deserve a spring break!
I think Celeste could only have the best Karma. Hang in there.
Are they even able to dig up there?
Yikes, Celeste, that's not a good way to spend Valentine's Day! Good luck with the outcome!!
Victor - those fingernails freaked me out. Why would anyone do that???
Willie - so glad you are ok!! That is such a sad tragedy.
Anita - thanks for the pruning article. It was very useful; just printed it out as a keeper!
I think the nail woman could have used Anita's link!
DEFINITELY!
The nail woman's picture was on Fox 10 o'clock news tonight. How could she eat--everything through a straw? I'm glad that we all are normal garden, gadget & book people.
That's special cakes were something else! I liked the not-so-traditional ones.
That woman with the record length nails just grosses me out! Nasty!!!!! I saw about a man in India who had held the wold record for the longest nails. His wife had to help him do everything. She must have a husband/boyfriend/devoted family member do stuff for her. You're right, Katye, there's no way she could do any of those things for herself.
Terrible about that crash. Willie, I had a crash happen close to me when I lived in Reno, NV. I lived near the airport there, and planes went over our house all the time. One night we heard a big explosion. A plane had crashed only a couple of miles from us. Crashed into a motor home dealership and set off an explosion from propane tanks. It was a private charter jet. I think there was one survivor, or one person lived for awhile and died in the hospital. I'm not sure. I think it was the pilot, too. Very tragic. The plane actually stopped right in the middle of a main road, which, of course, was closed for quite some time.
Victor, I'm not so sure that it's so terrible that one of the victims was a 9/11 widow. If you believe in the afterlife, then she is now reunited with her husband. We don't know her situation, but she could have been suffering from depression without him. Maybe she is now at peace. Just me speculating.
Celeste, I hope you have wonderfully great and excellent luck from here on in. I will be sending good thoughts your way!!!!!
Karen

Very nice Robin, I too was surprised with a dozen roses when I got home from work yesterday.
aaaawwwww... I told Randy after the first year we were together... not to waste money on cut flowers.. and if he feels the need.. to buy them at the supermarket... but I will always take one that's potted... we both agreed never to buy anything for valentines day.. I did ask him if he wanted me too cook dinner tonight... he said no it's saturday.. it's pizza night... but did say he wanted dinner tomorrow... and I am kind of glad.. Michele & I are going to the edison flower show today... can't wait
Jen, how awful you're husband couldn't give you a hand with the kids. And on Valentine's Day, to boot! That would really have me stewing, too. Sorry to hear about that.
I got some bad news the other day. My SIL's son's (brother's stepson) grandparents died in a fire just a couple days ago. I don't know how old they were. So tragic. They think it was started by a woodstove. I'm not speaking with my SIL these days, as she has done her best to alienate our brother from us since the end of Dec., but I did call my brother to tell his stepson that I was sorry to hear about his grandparents. I feel sorry for my SIL, but because I wouldn't take sides with her against a beef she had with my DS from Alaska when she was visiting around Christmas (they always go head-to-head over something from time to time), then she got really nasty and vindictive towards me and sent some really nasty e-mails. I finally had to just ignore her, because everytime I tried to defend myself she would twist around everything I said. My brother is not happy about the situation, but says he stays with her only for their daughter's sake. I think he is basically afraid of what she will try to do to him if he tried to leave her. She is extremely vindictive. Okay, enough about that.
Nice, Robin! How thoughtful of him, and thanks for sharing it with all of us. I don't have a man in my life right now. Sometimes I think that's a good thing. Other times I don't. But I'm not depressed over it, as I have so many good friends and I have my gardening and my DG friends to keep me busy and happy.
Allison, have fun at the flower show. I'm thinking of going to the RI Flower Show next weekend.
Karen
Karen, Sorry about your news.
How awful Karen. Condolences. We know a 19 year old kid who has testicular cancer. Thought the surgery did the trick, but now it has spread. Just horrible.
Thanks everyone, I def needed to vent. I was so mad I even slept on the couch.
Karen, the way I look at it..... at least they went together, how long were they married? That's a tough situation with your sil.
That's the same thought I had, Jen, that at least they went together, and one is not left to mourn the other. That would have been more sad, I think. Also, I know how people can feel guilty about being a survivor of a tragedy like that. They think it was unfair, like why did that person have to die, it should have been me, etc. I have read that it's very tough for survivors.
Thanks for the condolences, guys.
Karen
Karen - so sorry to hear your sad news and that you must deal with that tough situation with your SIL. Never easy!
Victor - that is so sad to hear about a 19-year-old with such a challenge! Hope things turn around for him!
Jen - ugh, ugh, ugh! That's all I can say! So sorry you had a tough entree into Valentine's Day! Poor little puppy......I'll bet he was more stressed than anyone!
Our 21 year old, very sweet neighbor cat, Hillary (who was the nicest cat I've ever known) was put to sleep today, and I am very sad. She would always make a bee line for us when we walked by "her sidewalk" where she lived each morning when we walked. I said a very tearful goodbye to her yesterday, and as always, she responded very sweetly to my gently scratching her. Hank too had a really tough time saying goodbye to her. She had begun to go downhill the last week and she had stopped eating. She wasn't coming out to meet us all week, but would respond when I petted her. She did not have the easiest life, living on a sidewalk, but she had lots of dignity and I will surely miss her.
Oh. So sorry about your cat. That is so hard.
Lots of sad news this Valentine's day.
sorry to hear about every one's bad news today.
nice picture of the Hillary the cat - definitely looks like she owned that sidewalk.
