Spring CS roundup TRADES LIST

Iola, TX(Zone 8b)

I am looking for Passion Flower vines, do you have any to trade?
Thanks, Trishann

Buffalo, TX(Zone 8b)

Trishann, I will bring your passion flower for you. I have extras of the incarnata.
Charlene

Fredericksburg, TX(Zone 8a)

Pbtx I would like some toad lilies and a buddleia please. I need to take pictures of what I have that I think are toad lilies. They don't look anything like yours. Yours are much prettier.:) Mine are just really odd. Can't remember if I'm bringing something for you already.

I've wanted a buddleia for a long time. In pf it says full sun, but the nurseries here say to give pm shade. Does yours get pm shade Pbtx? And does yours get to be 10'?

Thanks, Mary Lee

Garland, TX(Zone 8a)

Got you down, Mary Lee. No, my butterfly bush is only about 5' tall this year, so far. It had better not get to 10'! It gets midday sun--from about 10 a.m. up until about 4 p.m.

It's really trouble-free. The only time I've seen it look remotely unhappy is when I dug it up and moved it because it wasn't getting enough sun. That said, you know I do have an automatic drip system, so I can't say how it would do without supplemental watering. But I have almost nothing that doesn't require SOME water in Texas summers. I don't think the butterfly bush has any unusual needs.

Baytown, TX(Zone 9b)

Those toad lilies are awesome. I have never seen them except in pictures. God is so amazing with all of His beautiful plants he has created. And first and foremost for the wonderful family he has given me. (that includes all of you) I want May 9th to take it's time getting here so I can get more ready but want it to hurry so I can see all of you.

I am enjoying the rain we are getting and hopefully the little bursts will help bring out some flowers and also root some I am trying to start.

Blessings,
Sandy

Garland, TX(Zone 8a)

Sandy, the toad lilies are very pretty. I especially like the blue ones, which bloom longer. They do spread, though, and I have to dig some up every year. Also, in Texas summers they need to be in full shade. The species, especially, gets very brown and crisp around August.

I have a few other varieties, and they're also very pretty. But they are less vigorous and don't spread as well.

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

Ooo... they're pretty, they spread, and they like full shade? That sounds wonderful! May I have some, too?

Freeport, TX

Cannagirl- I believe it was you who brought me a pitcher plant last year (or was it the year before? They start to run together.) from your place. I managed to let it go to plant heaven, and I was wondering if maybe you could dig me up a few to replace it. I think I have a better handle on where to plant it this time (hopefully). Thanks, Jim

Iola, TX(Zone 8b)

Thanks Charlene!!
What can I bring you?

Garland, TX(Zone 8a)

Sure, Marylyn.

I just dug these up, and it looks like they aren't going to like it. They may lose their foliage and not look so great at the RU. It shouldn't matter, though. They should recover and bloom this fall. If you order them from a vendor, they actually arrive as roots anyway.

Garland, TX(Zone 8a)

I don't have a want list, but I'm looking for any brug cuttings. Looks like I lost all but one of the ones I put in the ground last fall. The ones I lost were Pink Velvet, Pink Favorite, Peace and Jamaican Yellow. Really I'd like any that are available. But I do still have some others, so please check before you cut your pretty plants.

I would also love a red passi, if anyone knows how to propagate it.

(Carole) Cleveland, TX(Zone 9a)

pbtxlady... i see others have asked for the blue toad lilies, but if you will have even a couple to spare, i'd be grateful. do you see anything on my list you may want?

Garland, TX(Zone 8a)

Sure, Cajun, I'll put your name on a couple. And I love gingers, if you still have them. Do you know if yours are cold-hardy?

Also, I forgot to mention. I have a whole bed where I plant irises that have been passed along by on-line friends. Most aren't named or anything; I just enjoy thinking of the person who gave them to me when they bloom. So, if anyone has extra iris bulbs, I'd love to include yours in my bed.

(Carole) Cleveland, TX(Zone 9a)

Thx, pbtxlady... The ones I'm sharing are cold-hardy. I have others that are not, but to be honest, they're a to dig up!! THey have never really produced much and have been a bigger pain than a joy.

Fredericksburg, TX(Zone 8a)

Pbtx, thanks. I've wanted a buddleia for a long time.

College Station, TX(Zone 8b)

I just saw some crinum growing and bloomiing merrily in the median of Hwy 6 across from the bowling alley. I'm going out at the crack of dawn Sat. to high grade them. If you don't hear from me after Sat. somebody come bail me out.

Fredericksburg, TX(Zone 8a)

lolAuntAnne. Don't worry, they'll let you out in time for the RU!

College Station, TX(Zone 8b)

It's not like it's a wildflower. And once the bluebonnets stop blooming they're going to mow it and that's not going to survive that. At least that's my story.

Baytown, TX(Zone 9b)

Anne just remember they are very deep. I think they go all the way to China when they are mature. lol What color is it? I could bring you an Ellen B. if you would like. I think I saw some small ones.

College Station, TX(Zone 8b)

blooms are white w/ pink stripes. This is just a rescue mission. I already have this.

(Carole) Cleveland, TX(Zone 9a)

Anne, you're hysterical!! I've done my fair share of guerilla gardening when I was in FW. Hey I considered every mission a rescue mission. If the seeds hit the concrete, how will that species survive?!?! And in the case of the McLandscaping where they pull up perfectly good [seeding] plants only to replace them with already blooming other plants fresh out of the greenhouse, they don't care if some of the stems are missing or the seeds are all picked off!

I actually found a full grown rose bush that someone had dug up and was sitting on their curb for the trash with the root ball in tact. I kept a black trash back in my trunk so I KNOW I rescued that sweet baby! Had to leave it behind in FW but it was a gorgeous, sweet smelling peach color rose!

If you don't post back on here Saturday we'll come get you!

College Station, TX(Zone 8b)

At the end of semesters our roads and highways sprout seat cushions and pillows blown out from the back of pickups. So I firmly believe that this little one either fell out or was tossed out by someone. It doesn't make sense that it would purposely have been planted there.

Seguin, TX(Zone 8b)

I've got an evergreen passi with blue and white flowers if people are interested as well as the maypop. Also, pbtxlady I have Pink Favorite brug I can root for you.

Also, is this thread getting a bit long for some people? Perhaps we should start a thread 2.

Kim

Garland, TX(Zone 8a)

Kim, the Pink Favorite I lost was from you two years ago. It's the only brug I had that bloomed last year, and it was just lovely. I planted it in the ground last fall because I read that it was hardy in 8a. If you could start me another piece, I promise I won't do that again.

By the way, the one I planted out that did survive was Maya, also from you. I hope it'll bloom for me this year.
