Spring CS roundup TRADES LIST

Fredericksburg, TX(Zone 8a)

Ok this is what I added:

Black Knight - I Love Jesus, Patrob, Willia, Trishann
The President - Patrob, Trishann
Maudie Malcolm - Trishann

I added a few other things to my list on March 14. Can't remember now what it was.

Willis, TX(Zone 8b)

Cajun2 & Kim - I'll be glad to take some of those 4". & 6" plastic pots off your hands - thanks a bunch! Lee

Fredericksburg, TX(Zone 8a)

Charlene, how about trading for some of your yellow daffodils? Do you know what kind they are?

Fredericksburg, TX(Zone 8a)

Does anybody know if I can store these cannas bare root after I dig them up? Also I've already dug up the Richard Wallace cannas and some were coming up already and some not and some were mushy. I threw away the mushy ones and cut off the mushy parts if it wasn't all mushy. Are the partially mushy ones salvagable?

Buffalo, TX(Zone 8b)

Silver, wash the mushy parts off and let the roots air dry. It could be that some of the mushy stuff is from the bad ones that you threw out. If when they dry they are not mushy anymore, they may be alright.

As far as storing them I think that since they are waking up and sprouting this time of year, it might be difficult to store them without losing them. Last year someone dug some early for me and stored them and they were all dried out and dead. Maybe you should pot them in some plain soil, you don't have to use the good stuff.

Someone else may have a better idea.

I don't know the names of my daffs. They are yellow trumpets with yellow petals. I will gladly share. I have been wanting black knight for a while now.

Charlene

Fredericksburg, TX(Zone 8a)

Ok, you're probably right about potting them up. I can pot them in dirt from my yard. You'll be getting a little piece of the hill country.:) Some of these might have already done all the blooming they're going to do and you'll have to wait for them to make babies. Don't cannas work like irises do?

I think daffodils in trade for cannas is a good thing.:) Most of my daffs are Erlicheer, so some variety would be good.

DeRidder, LA(Zone 9a)

Lee, I would love a few more of your Iris again this year :) They bring so much color to my gardens and I just 100% love them!

I'll be adding a list of cannas sometime before Monday for you canna lovers.

If anyone has any more pots to get rid of, no matter what the size & 6 pk. trays please check out my trade list.

Adding to my trade list:

1 Pink Festival Passiflora
1 Kewensis Passiflora
1 Jennifer Grace

Looking for palm, & banana seeds or plants.

Goldthwaite, TX(Zone 8a)

Dollie, those are gorgeous passion vines! They would not survive my winters, however, and I've sworn to quit collecting plants that have to live inside in the winter. Drat. Did you order the cannas that Barb found for us last year? I got my seven, and several may have a division ready to share. I kept them in the greenhouse all winter hoping they would multiply faster. I'll be moving them outside in a couple of weeks when I'm sure there won't be another freeze and will take stock when I transplant them.

(Carole) Cleveland, TX(Zone 9a)

silverfluter, i've grown cannas for many years and traded them. what i normally do with mine is wait until the day before the swap and dig them up (even a couple of days) and they do just fine. the variety i have (and will bring) i kid you not, i dug up some to share with a girl. she was supposed to come by the house but never did. i was thinning out a bed so i dug them and put them behind the shed and forgot about them. now they have virtually NO soil on them. they almost look like they're suspended in air--growing as if they'd been in the soil all winter long. they went 'barefoot' all winter long and didn't EVEN die! unreal.

BTW, Sandy & Lee, i have mostly 1 gallon black pots, but also a few 5 gallon. SOME 4-5" pots but not sure how many of those i may use to bring trades. either way, i know now there is some interest. i have you guys both down for some pots.

Fredericksburg, TX(Zone 8a)

Cajun I wish I could wait at least til the week before the RU, but I would probably run out of time and not be able to dig them up. And after considering the humidity or lack thereof I'm afraid they would dry out if left without dirt. Would it work to put them in the fridge? I have a fridge at work that I could use. Maybe they would stay dormant in there?

Goldthwaite, TX(Zone 8a)

Mary Lee, if you have a spot, just heel those cannas in and they will be fine. Even crowded, if there is just a little soil over the rhizomes and they get some water regularly, they will be fine. Right before the RU, pull them up and shake them off. Cannas are very forgiving.

(Carole) Cleveland, TX(Zone 9a)

Linda I have some multiplying onions for you. Do you have any Dead Nettle, Lamium maculatum 'Beacon Silver' left?

Silverfluter may I please have some of your ground cover?

BTW, I've noticed a couple of baby Rue in my garden, and I believe I'll be able to pot up at least a couple Plumbago. Added the pots to my trade list.

Fredericksburg, TX(Zone 8a)

Hmmm. Hadn't thought of that Patrob. I think I'll try this. Aluminum baking pans with holes in the bottom and dirt on top. I can keep them in the shade by the patio and keep an eye on them.

Fredericksburg, TX(Zone 8a)

Cajun2, got you on the list for ground cover. I'm so glad somebody wants this stuff. It's a really neat plant in the right climate.

Buffalo, TX(Zone 8b)

Cannagirl, Do I have anything you would like in exchange for your passies? Also what is a Jennifer Grace?
Charlene

Garland, TX(Zone 8a)

Trishann, would you add me to the list for wind chimes, please?

I am going to go ahead and plan on making this trip, even if I have to cancel later. I will post a trade list tomorrow.

Iola, TX(Zone 8b)

I have added you to the windchime list... I hope you will be able to make it....
Trishann

Garland, TX(Zone 8a)

Thanks, Trishann!

College Station, TX(Zone 8b)

While taking my plants out of the garage from wintering over, I broke off a piece of 2 different noid brugs. I'm adding these to my list. I'm rooting them and it looks like they're going to do.

Bryan, TX

AuntAnne, is it possible you still have a start of butterfly weed? If so, would you tag me for one? Thanks, Geneva

Willis, TX(Zone 8b)

Cannagirl - got you down on the Irises! Lee

College Station, TX(Zone 8b)

I have several volunteers coming up in the front flower bed. I'm going to be digging them up. So I have several.

(Carole) Cleveland, TX(Zone 9a)

Went out this afternoon & potted up 6 trades of Mexican Herb. Can't find my Thai Basil right now, but I would imagine it's because all their leaves were beaten off by the hail. I'll bet they're tough though and will come back. I did pot a couple of Blue Salvia, a couple of Red Salvia and two Plumbago.

While I was out there, I did check to see and I have quite a few Mother of Thousands (Sedum/Succulent) that I'll be able to share.

Anxious to see my Moss Rose coming back. It'll have to get quite a bit warmer for those, right? I have several varieties of them and just love them for their drought tolerance and daily blooms!

My Rose of Montana (Coral Vine) is coming back from the base this year ;-)

Does anyone know if you can propogate Yesterday, Today & Tomorrow (not roses, the other plant) by cuttings?

Fredericksburg, TX(Zone 8a)

Cajun2 do you have the ground cover plumbago or the shrub?

I'm adding victoria phlox to my have list. They reseeded and it looks like I'll have at least several seedlings.

(Carole) Cleveland, TX(Zone 9a)

It's the shrub. My garden didn't do all that well the first year I had them (2 yrs ago, I think) but last year I had 2 or 3 plants and this year they've come back and have babies!!

You want one? Perhaps for a Victoria Phlox?

(Carole) Cleveland, TX(Zone 9a)

Oh and I've read quite a bit about the Mother of Thousands... now I think I know why it's unlikely I'll have any takers! holy crap! This is his mother's idea of a good thing (lol). I may be bringing the entire POT to the nursing home where she is! I told them I'd plant a few things around to bring a little life to their back yard. This oughta do it! hehehehe

... and I'm just being funny/synical - but just a tad serious ... no, it's late!

Fredericksburg, TX(Zone 8a)

Cajun lol. Yes Mother of thousands is very prolific.:) And no thank you, I do not need any.:)

Some blue plumbago would be great and I'll put you on the list for victoria phlox. Anybody else?

I have Fannicks phlox too, but I don't see any babies from it.

Buffalo, TX(Zone 8b)

Silver, I just looked at the photos of the Victoria phlox. I would love to have some please. I don't have a list up, but I am bringing some trades. Anything particular you are wanting?
Charlene

Goldthwaite, TX(Zone 8a)

Mary Lee, I would love to have a start of your 'Victoria Phlox' too. I'll be adding more to my list as soon as I get the North Texas RU out of the way this week-end. Next time I am going to choose only one swap for each season! I know I have a pot of 'Starfire' phlox and a white plumbago growing in the greenhouse if you could use either or both of those.

Buffalo, TX(Zone 8b)

Patricia, could I please have a start of your Starfire?

I too will be putting up a list as soon as I am done with the north Tx RU.

Charlene

Goldthwaite, TX(Zone 8a)

The 'Starfire' is a new plant, Charlene, but perhaps it will grow a lot before May. If I can get another division to pot up for you, I will.

Iola, TX(Zone 8b)

Hi Charlene!!
Can I get two of your Texas Red Oaks and one each of the others?

buddleia davidii
salvia Indigo Spires
salvia Black & Blue
salvia Hot Lips

Thanks,
Trishann

Garland, TX(Zone 8a)

Trishann, that was me, and sure, I've got you down.

Baytown, TX(Zone 9b)

pbtxlady May I have some of these

toad lilies
and a few calidiums
buddleia davidii
salvia Indigo Spires
salvia Black & Blue
salvia Hot Lips

Thanks,
Sandy

Freeport, TX

pbtxlady- I'd sure appreciate some of your toad lilies and caladiums. Soon as I know what I have to trade, I'll post a list and you can let me know if there's anything on it you want. Thank you, ma'am. Jim

Fredericksburg, TX(Zone 8a)

Charlene and Patrob I have you down for victoria phlox.

Charlene you are already bringing me something, but I can't remember what it is.

Patrob, I would like some of your white plumbago. I think the starfire would be too stressed out by droubt in my yard. I already have the blue one and I am hoping that they are both deer resistant.

Pbtx, do you have pictures of your buddleia and toad lilies?

BTW I also have Brazilian rock rose.

Garland, TX(Zone 8a)

Okay, I'm putting everyone down. But, as my trade list says, there's a caveat on the caladiums and coleus. Most were purchased to sell at a garage/plant sale. So, depending on sales, my caladium numbers may be limited.

Thing is, it's still pretty cool here after the sun goes down. I am ASSUMING I can get these things rooted by May 9. But if we have another cold April like we did last year, I may not be able to. A lot of the heat-lovers (salvias) I've tried so far haven't made it. Hopefully it'll warm up quick!

Garland, TX(Zone 8a)

Mary Lee, I don't have pictures, sorry. My camera is broken and I didn't get any of either the butterfly bush or the toads last fall. The butterfly bush is the species plant, not a hybrid, but it looks a lot like this one: http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/49900/ . All I can tell you is that it's gorgeous in the fall and literally covered with butterflies. It also grows in leaps and bounds. Mine has gone from 12" to a 5'x4' bush in just a year.

My toad lilies are also the species plant: http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/537/ I should also have a few of the blue ones to bring: http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/126889/ , The blue ones are very vigorous and start blooming around August 1 till frost. The species are a couple of weeks later.

Goldthwaite, TX(Zone 8a)

Thank you, Mary Lee. I'll put your name on the white plumbago. I rooted it about a year ago, and it's ready to take off and grow for you.
