Best/Worse &What did I learnt today/Chat with Friends #83

Newcastle, ON(Zone 5a)

OMG!!!
Isn't that ridiculous..and expensive to boot!

Victoria Harbour, ON

A gimmic for sure..no time to repair for 3 or 4 weeks but yet if you pay an emergency repair fee of $25.00 then it's in 48 hrs...she did tell me though the other fee for looking at it IF I get it fixed will be taken off the bill...drats...

OMG there are some nice looking machines in there, thank goodness I only had time to drop off my machine otherwise who knows..might have come home with a new one...if I did purchase another it would be from Ted's in Midland where I always dealth..he passed away last spring but his wife is still operating the business...don't need one though..these electronic machines, probably cost as much to fix as it is to buy...

Glenview, IL

Good Morning Everyone.

Yep, I am still alive...ROFLOL buried alive in the basement!!
LOL but making great progress. Sent Steve off to cottage, so now tossing, putting away, laundering...etc etc...nice and peaceful like.

OH My goodness!
Betty, I love the Quilt you made for Darlene. Wow, still working on my project. Didn't help that I cut the piece too small.
So back to fabric store got another piece and the Lady says what a lovely piece and how it's going quickly...ROFLOL, I said that's because I keep buying the same piece from all my "practicing" So this time it has to be right, they say 3rd times the charm. So lets hope.
...So sorry to hear about your machine and the trouble with Policy-yuk. sure can feel your frustration, can't blame you...but well, I am sure your have a backup project plan.

Oh how lovely to watch the sunset. They sure are beautiful. I enjoy that as well sometimes. And i must say how marvelous to stroll through your gardens once again, it sure make me long for the the real deal soon. I am enjoying watching the indoor plants are blooming.
I still thinks it's way early.

Now, I am smiling so wide, bursting with Proudness!!! Yaya, Deborah so cheering for you. You continue to do awsom.

And Yes, Trisha, I also truley enjoyed our Superbowl Party..via Phoneline. I am so happy to have been able to meet you.
Thought it was wonderful to hear your laughter.

Stacey, You hang in there girl. This boss doesn't sound like the brightest bulb. Try not to let anything she say or writes affect you emotionally. Just smile on and keep documenting. How are things going with Cedrick? Have you got him helping with swaps?
Yep, the 11th is a great day for new beginning and great endings!

Well, we have had some not so great excitiement but turned out good after all.
First, Julia and Alissa got into a major fight, fortunatley they made up...Me, kept mouth shut lol, was hard but gotta let them figure things out.
Second, Some idiot decided to play tricks on a few employees at Julia's work...Did a broadcast firing via phone. No =ne of us could believe it they could just fire someone like that...Talked Julia into going to work afterall, goodthing because found out it was a hoax!
So because she has the message as proof that she received this call, whoever sent it, can be brought up on charges.
Also...She made it to one year!! Now can get benefits. So, things are well with her again.

Waving Hello to all of you...
Liz, How did the rest of decorating go? Thank you for the packages, will keep eye out.

Well, i have got to go to a little bit of running around! Should be back before noon.

Mary and Anjil...You both are wonderful to help the young people. You will be quite surprised how most people will remember such loving kindness.
(Have more to say) but I have to go right now.

Wonder, so nice to see you again...loving that you are smiling and laughing.

OK...nice day so got to skoot! P.S.
Have a Wonderful day...

Wavy Judy, missed you..that's what happens when you no longer work..no time to do the things you want to do, how does that happen..lol

I'm calmer now, hate stupidity!!!!

Driving in this morning I brought my camera, more to capture tonight's sunset which I'd love to paint...along the side of the road you could see total distruction of trees from our storms, my thoughts went to the south and their damage from ice-storm...once our snow has left the ground we'll see so much more...

Judy, I do have a plan, will call DIL and see if I can borrow her machine..in fact... I was thinking that Canadian tire had one on sale for under $100. wouldn't be bad to pick one up to do such things as rag quilt, NOT that I think it's what happened to my machine..but I do canvas/tarps etc. etc. hard on my machine..now I'll pay the pipper..

Sorry to hear about Julia's falling out with Alissa..they are so close, hope there is a happy ending..now whatever would possess that young man to do such a thing...company had better re-think their position with regards to these types of hoaxes

I was laughing when you were saying how you are enjoying your indoor plants...cough/cough, I'll have to take a photo of mine..why do I do so poorly..love them, water them lol but dead they are or at least nearly dead...

(AnjL) Fremont, CA(Zone 9b)

morning all!

betty, I am the same with indoor plants :o( finally gave up on growing them. Had one left and it died last fall. I guess I spend too much time with the outdoor plants and not enough time on the indoor plants! LOL! oops! forgot I do have one left in the kitchen :o) only alive cause DH takes care of it for me! LOL

sorry to hear about your machine and 'policy' issues, seems that maybe they could wave the policy on an expensive machine like that!

BIG CONGRATS!! on not smoking for 7 days! I quit smoking for a few days last summer and dug a pond! LOL! unfortunately for me, went back to smoking right after the pond was dug. DH and I were quitting together because he had some health issues.... too hard for both of us to quit at the same time! we were at each others throats constantly. ;o( I have since cut way back...only 5-7 cigs a day now. hoping to just taper off and quit altogether, wether DH quits or not! (he also went back to smoking and cut down from 2 packs a day to 10 cigs a day) My DD wont let me babysit my DGS until I quit altogether....so BIG incentive for me ^_^

got up this morning with intentions to transplant the thyme in my new patio....but just cant seem to get up the strength and energy to go do it! grr! maybe some breakfast will help ....

Hope you all have a great morning!

AnjL

Victoria Harbour, ON

Your body AnnMarie is telling you to rest...that's a lot of work you've done over the past few days, pretend the thyme is planted, get yourself a chair and enjoy mentally planning the garden..Suzanne's daughter Danielle is having a war with her MIL for same reason, doesn't want Arianna to be in the house if she is smoking...stress there as well...

Do you know we have a new law as of a few weeks ago..if you smoke in the vehicle with a child under 16 you can be charged...

(AnjL) Fremont, CA(Zone 9b)

we have that same law here. I completely agree with it too! I dont smoke in the house, DD fear is that i will NEED a cig and take the baby outside to smoke grrr! I asked her if I ever smoked around her, and she said no....but she doesnt need constant watching! LOL! I told her at work I went 8 hrs with no cig...so can do the same at home.. but am glad she is sticking to her guns....she may be young, but she is a really good mom! her real issue is that I smell like smoke (clothes and hair) etc.

oh, sitting in a chair plannign would be torture on me! lol! thats what kept me going when I couldnt do any work....now its time to implement the plans! lol! its warmer outside now, and I'v ehad my breakfast, so going to put on some gardening clothes and grab a knife and start with the thyme. If I can get that transplanted today, I'll feel much better :o) and it only requires me sitting on my duff and cutting plugs :o) I think I can do at least that much! problem is, I get out there and the ideas all come in and then I think I can do alot more! lol! will wait to see how I feel after the thyme is in place.

til my break.....

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Betty, sorry about your machine.....I have run into some of those policies and they drive me crazy.....not that it is a long trip...lol!!!

Judy!!! Was concerned that I had talked you to death!!! Rachael sends you a big hug and a big hello...said of course she remembers and she has a wonderful Christmas Ornament that you sent her. Laura and I are meeting her for coffee tomorrow so we will pass on that hug for real!!

AnnMarie, please don't over do.......don't want to go to all that work and then not be able to enjoy it.

Have errands to run with Laura this afternoon, then Sage has her first Rock Climbing Class today.....looks like it is going to be a busy afternoon!! Will pop back in later.

Houseplants.....love them! If they don't require water they do quite well with me!
Have a bit of garlic and one lone potted tulip poking their little heads through

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

Good news for SE MO! Wayne's power came back on about 8 last night! I heard on the radio that most of that area should be on by now. Wonderful!!
Didn't get to do my shopping yesterday. Getting my oil changed today and my hair cut tomorrow. Thurs. I'll go get fabric! Wheeee!!!

Victoria Harbour, ON

Well on a downer today, needed a pick me up so drove the the big Garden Center...OMG I'm so glad my camera was in the car took a few photo's and will post tonight...soooo many garden things, house decorations, plants/flowers that you virtually have to put your finger in them to tell if they are real or not..felt bad for killing all the plants ..Trisha, we should purchase a few for the house come next winter..know I will..

Not sure what thread I was on and they were talking Christmas cactus..bought a 6" pot, will try again in memory of grandma who had the most beautiful ones I'd ever seen, then a pretty flower in bloom, not sure of the name, miniature buds..anyway have a yellow arrangement with vine but the plant died (wonder how that happened) so am replacing it...

So many things I want/want/want so think the days I drive I'll go hang out there instead of fast food restaurants..can't count today because I brought back a chicken finger meal...

Checked XSCargo and they have a sewing machine for $69.99 and if mine will be a little longer to repair I'll go buy it...use it for rough stuff...

Audrey, I'm glad they have power on..sounds as though you've got a few shopping days planned..good for you..hope you find sales on material..

AnnMarie they were in the midst of closing off 1/2 the Garden Center to create patio's and waterponds/waterfalls...Wonder if I could offer to work there a few hours in the evening for FREE just to feel as though I'm gardening..probably think I'm nuts and say NO...

Victoria Harbour, ON

Laura, saying a prayer that she doesn't lose the baby..sometimes Laura we never know what makes on hate us so much..usually it's the one we've put the most effort into trying to please and love..adding her to my prayers as well..did you ever find the tape you made of you singing? was quite some time ago!

OK, just got home, don't know why I'm feeling so sad today, just fighting it, and no it's not my sewing machine..although that didn't help..

Going to run a bath and turn in early..I know it's only 6pm here but seems the thing to do..

Before I go though I'll share some of my day..

This photo is of HWY 93 I travel..so for about 8 miles most of the roadway trees have been destroyed..guess I should not be taking photo's while driving..lol

That's just how quickly our weather changes..rather than lunch I went to the Garden Center about 10 minutes away from the office...large facility.. a must to see when all their space has been designed into little garden areas with ponds..

Quite a size really...a great way to spend a winter day..

Wasn't close enough to the yellow display..will have to go back and get a closer look...sitting there was a canvas of such brilliant colors..background white birch I believe..love it..not enought to pay $199.99 but enough I'd try to paint it, perhaps on wood as a sign for my garden..

They were starting to get ready for the Easter crowd...saw a few pieces I'd like to bring home..

This area will be mini gardens all set up..they have professional staff that will provide same should you want it in your backyard..not ready yet but by April/May it will be..

Well, now that I've bored you all to death with my day..going to call it a night..

Good Lord willing, we'll talk tomorrow

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Laura will keep everyone in our prayers.....

Betty how great to have such a wonderful place to dream in.....spring isn't too far off.....I keep repeating to myself!!

My Laura has a bit of a bug...not what she needed with the packing and house hunting and all the kids under foot. We looked at a house today that they like... it needs a little work and the yard needs a good deal of work but they are excited about it...it is a place with a lot of potential......has several Rhoadies, a holly hedge with an arbor over the walkway to the street... While Sean was waiting for the Rental Agent to show up he called me to have someone to talk to.....he found a cute little garden gnome watching him from the shrubbery....we take that as a good sign! Say a little prayer that this works out and they can get settled soon.

Have to get ready for spin class....take care Betty, you still need a lot of rest to get back to your old self....don't need any reruns of your illness.

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

Thanks Laura-It must've worked as I am DONE!!! I am FREE!!!! HR called to let me know that they would pay me til the 11th and I didn't have to come in anymore!!! YEAH!!!

Fayetteville, AR(Zone 7b)

That place is huge Betty! Wow! I wanna go shopping! Looks like there wasn't anyone there either, just you. I'm sorry about your sewing machine, and some of these store policies are ridiculous. Good Grief.

I made a dr appt today for tomorrow at 11:30, so I'll let ya'll know tomorrow night what in the world is wrong with me. It's very strange.

The bad week I had last week is rubbing over into this week and I'm not liking it. My boss seems to be on a rampage, which is fine and I have 3 projects going on, which is also fine, but the other girl I work with is starting to whine when I can't do her job because I have my own stuff to do too, and she can't pay her taxes online or play mahjong.

Melbourne, Victoria, Australia

nite nite

Victoria Harbour, ON

Morning all...decided today I would look for all the beauty that's out there to make me smile, brought my camera along and watched the sunrise..that alone has to mak you feel better...

No sooner did I arrive at work John from Johns Sewing Center called, checked over the machine, did a check on my machine without dismantling it, guess because of the embroidery mechanism he tries not to take it apart..well, he thinks it's the stepping motor but if it's not and he does the fuses and overhaul it will be $185.75..then if the stepping motor needs to be replace it's an additional $175.00 if it's something MORE than that, he'll call

Just spoke to mom, I will leave here tomorrow after work, travel to the city, pick her up and take her to spend Friday and Saturday in Buffalo..good part about that is twofold..one I'll get to meet Debbie and 2nd...got to find a Cracker Barrel for mom..lol..ok, maybe for me as well

So back on a roll

Laura, never saw anyone get to excited over gadgets..when I go to the Outlet Mall in Buffalo there are kitchen stores, will have to take a look and see what they have...yes, we have Penningtons here, all big sizes..so mega places to shop...we should do a house swap Laura, you come here stay at my house, shop/shop/shop and I'll enjoy the weather down under..how's that for a plan...look forward to seeing what you sew...

Trisha, sorry to hear your Laura is ill..praying that the gnome was a good sign and that they get the house..now what on earth will they do if they don't have a place by moving date..don't go there right?

Crissy, glad you were able to make an appointment with the doctors..don't you just love it when someone in the office is playing on computer all day, getting behind in their job and then expect someone else to help bail them out...

Mary, I sure can understand what you are going through..after DH passed on I married one of the nicest man this side of heaven, least I thought so..he was too generous to a fault..ended up building a home for his daughter .. divided some of the farm land, much to my concern..I'd rather he had given her $$$ to purchase a home maybe 1/2 - 1 hr away from us but not...she was unwed, lived with boyfriend, don't know how many times police were there, 2 nearly teenage children going through hell, all being told I was the wicked witch, to make matters worse, a few years later doesn't the ex-wife move in with daughter..you have absolutely no idea the hell I went through...

One day with less than $50.00 in my pocket, no home (money I had from the sale of my home went in to upgrading the farmstead home, was as pretty as a picture...anyway..off I went, defeated but not for long, ended up within a few months to purchase the home I'm in, worked alongside of family and friends and a lot of weekend projects on my own, to make myself a home that I can relax, stress free (most of the time) not worrying about what was to come next...so I do know where you are at..prayers and soft hugs going out to you both...it's along hard road you are travelling...

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Laura, It is hard to believe how expensive it is over there. Can you find some fabric, and make your own clothes, or is fabric pricey also?
Why don't you order from these places for your clothes, or don't they ship to Australia?
LK

Lyndonville, NY

Betty, I love your rag quilt, it turned out beautiful!

You will be happy to know weather here is supposed to be in mid 30's on Friday, and 40's on Sat. & Sunday unless the weather men screwed up again.

I have a store for you in Niagara falls. Have you ever been to the Christmas Tree Shop? Believe me, it isn't just Christmas....and great outdoor things very reasonably. This one just opened up in NF before Christmas. I find it is great for ideas of what to do with things and make on my own.

Sorry to hear about your machine issues. No chance it is still under some type of warranty? Wish you could get a second opinion....did the man sound trustworthy?

For those of you giving up smoking, I am so very very proud of you. I just lost my Mom this past summer from lung cancer. When my kids were little, they didn't want Grandma at all...finally found out the smoke in her clothes burned their noses. Keep up your great work.

Snowing here now, we have had about 4 inches since 7:30.

I am still reading and lurking....very excited about the weekend.

Debbie

Victoria Harbour, ON

Debbie, I do know that they are reputable..been in business for ions..Ted whom I purchased all my machine in Barrie passed away last year..now he had a thing for me (yuk) almost to the point I stopped shopping there, every time I came in he leaned over to tell me how wonderful I smelt, loved the perfume..hey I don't wear purfume..lol..but got great bargains..he asked me out once and I say nope wasn't ready to date, he said I'm only asking you to go out for a meal, not to marry me...lol...anyway shortly thereafter I was going out with someone,he heard about it and that was the last bargoooons I got...he married shortly after and died shortly after that, leaving her with a booming fabric store business, a sewing room full of high quality sewing machines..guess I lot my window of opportunity..so smilling as I type this...

Glad it will be warmer there Debbie..calling for rain 2 days here..any chance we could meet Friday, I don't mind driving your area, know on my way there would be a Cracker Barrel right? Look forward to visiting the Christmas Tree Shop..we had one near mom's in Clearwater..I believe it closed a year or so ago..yep, add that one to my list...any more suggestions..got to keep mom busy..should I remind her I have a birthday coming up? best I do!!!!

Stacey..how are you doing sweetie, this is the first day of the rest of your life, time to put those bad memories away and look forward to much more life has to offer you..know it doesn't feel like there is, but trust me, there is!

Well, girls just came in, time for lunch..think I'll go back to the garden centre, browse and see what kind of treats await me over the next few months...

Lyndonville, NY

Betty, there is nothing out here at all. The Cracker Barrel I sent you the map of is the only one I know of in NY except the one up in Rochester.

We live in the sticks...and besides a pizza shop, that has one table..small family restaurant up the corner, but is pretty good. Our closest hotel/motel is in Lockport. LOL

Victoria Harbour, ON

Debbie are you able to meet me Friday at any time, breakfast or lunch or dinner at Cracker Barrel..might be hard with coming home mid Sat. to meet up...

Just love spending lunches at the garden center..

Lyndonville, NY

Betty, I can meet you Friday for breakfast or brunch. I just have to be back here to pick up Shannon from school as she can't walk home.

I didn't know you were heading back on Saturday, thought Sunday. I don't want to mess up any of your shopping plans.

Since you are having to help your Mom also....tell me what time is good for you Friday...and I will be there.

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Just a quick pop in....have to get lunch then Laura and I are off to meet a DG friend who lives in Olympia!!!! Ended up with her as my Valentine Swap Buddy so I get to deliver my swap in person!!!!! We are sooooo excited!!!! Our first DG friend that we get to meet for real!!!!

Laura dear, look how much you save by not having all these temptations available at the drop of a hat......at least you have a chance to come to your senses before spending so much!!

Will try and catch up later....

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Betty, forgot to add that if worse comes to worse there are always vacancies at the apartment complex where Laura's brother lives.....they would rather have a house with garden space.....but the apartments are there as a last resort....

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Are they looking to buy a home, or are they just renting?

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

They are just renting right now.....they hope to buy eventually, but that is couple of years (and many $$$$) down the road.....
