Welcome 2009 Gift.
There are a few sistahs and a niece that still are waiting for their gifts. Bless them for being so patient. But it will be worth it.. as Maid M. would famously say, "You can't hurry perfection".

Picture is of Cookie's new grandson, Kyle.

Donna, I've never tried canning veges, pickled some, but not canning. Most I'd do with fresh veges like green beans are to blanch them, flash freeze and then store them in bags. We're gonna have more strawbales for tomatoes this year, I might can them.
Those Grey Parrots are very intelligent. You have quite a menagerie Donna.

Judy, I gave the bug to Kel :*( Instead of watching the game, I'm watching him.. missed most of the game.

Cody... ice hockey is a violent sport!!

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

Ooops..forgot to inform the old room.. Got to wet some towels for Kel.

Tanks Jaye.. I have always been a lover of animals and well from time to time I had tons we even had a pet shop a few years ago specializing in parrots.. Now that was fun.. The greys are very smart just as stubborn as smart unfortunately.. Her beak is very sharp and I dont relish trying to touch her much anymore..

Will take note on the blanching for the veggies.. I want to try to save as much as we can this year and make as many extra ( towards the principle) payments as we can to drop the balance and get things fixed and going in the right direction again on the house.. Speed Bumps or not..

I already have My orange tree getting established and the fruit this year wsa super sweet and very easy to peel off this lil tree..

Oh Man...
Jaye..Can't say You gave it to him, germs are everywhere..you went to Walmart,
so anyone gave it to him, not you.... Huggs. To both of you.
Feel better soon.

LOL, found you in new room...going to watch halftime tho...I do enjoy that.

Here is what I posted last thread!

Oh, I hear you on the learning the hard way.
My DH, was just recently bitten by a Cocatoo.(geesh forgot how to spell that).

Your Grey is Gorgeous. My sister and her soul mate had a Parrot. Tye was pretty small.
But he sure could talk and sing. He was black and orange. Forgot what kind he is.

enjoyed seeing the other kids.

Got a cocketeil myself. Birdies name is Feathers, she just turned 10!

Anyway, I am glad to hear you all learned to get along.

Lancaster, OH(Zone 6a)

Sorry didnt mean to lose you.. Whats the score I dont even have it on.. uggghh Guess I better watch the second half huh..

By the way Cockatoo Bites are horrible.. Greys are nots as forceful but they can be just as viscious..

Lancaster, OH(Zone 6a)

Pointless Bird fact but food for thought...

If a bird can crack a brazill nut in one bite ... Doesnt it make sense that they can break your forearm bones.. Especially Macaws very easily and the Black Cockatoo is even bigger.. I have had stitches, Max had a goffin we trie dto take in as a rescue a few years ago run down my arm jump on him and try to riip his ear in half littereally,,, Wa sbad but he stayed calm .. Bird left aout an hour later was just to mean to have anywhere near being inside wit hte kids..

Something else will come along.. Something better..

(bestest fairy)Tempe, MI(Zone 5b)

AS I smile, I envision several not so nice things, that if I mentioned here, may change your opinion of me....

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Half time!!!!! Isn’t that the whole reason we are watching this thing? Sigh….My Hero!!!!!!

My last bird is Pete, he is a 17 year old Cockatiel….. we hatched him….

The pet shop I worked at had wonderful Greenwing…her name was Fred….. she would give you a hard nip, jerk her head back and say “Ouch!!”……you can love that bird, but never trust her!

The most painful bite I have had was a stinkin’ little parakeet!! He was viscious and and get just under the edge of the fingernail….did it ever hurt!

Glenview, IL

Good night Fairycutie. Sleep well.

Hope you enjoyed the game...

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Chin up niece, it Will get Better.....((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))), sleep well.

Glenview, IL

For real, Cocketiels have a pretty good nip in them too.
Gotta still love them to pieces.

Yep, for sure Trisha, way to go Boss.
I hear he is coming here but I forget when. thats pitiful!

Lancaster, OH(Zone 6a)

Trisha owwwiieeee ...LOL Those little ones can really really put a hurting on ya for sure.> Had a paraet grab ahold of my cuticle one time.. It was sore for days on end..

We raised tiels for awhile, quakers, Hand fed out cockatoos, macaws, greys and even a few eclectus..
Im known as the bird lady on regular occasion.. When we first bought this house we have 27 birds we moved with us and then we got out of breeding and kept just Grey Bird. .Shes Family to us..

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

OH......you have one of Those memories Tooo!!!! At least I am not alone

Lancaster, OH(Zone 6a)

Well ladies Im gonna run in and chat with Max.. Hes on th eradio chatting with my Father in law about appaerntly a trip here in April anlong with his sister (18), lil brother (11) and his mom.. So I gues I need to drag my calender back and startwriting down dates.. lol

I will try hard to get back soon..

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Donna, I love birds....had several at one point......tiels, a rescued Senegal......Finches, love their little voices, Grey Cheek, Love Birds......and of course the entire menagerie at the pet store. Gave up all but Pete and Bugsy when I had to start traveling overseas for work, the kids weren't really up to dealing with all of them when I was gone.....and Bill didn't have clue!

Pangburn, AR(Zone 7b)

Went to visit the niebors tp visit one day last summer. They have about 5 parrots. I was standing next to one of the cages that the parrot was walking on top. We were just talking and the parrot jumped right on my shoulder. She said that bird has never done that to anyone before. It sat there about a half hour, then I turned my head to look at him, and he bit half my nose almost off. Blood everywhere! I can't remember the ladies name right now, but she was sooooo upset. But it was my fault because I invaded his space, I got too close. It took 20 some stitches to reattach my nose, but the plastic surgeon did a great job. hardly any scar at all.
I want a parrot or cockatiel someday.

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

Beautiful stallions, Cathy! Are they Arabians?
Joyce, your baby is just beautiful!
Kathy, you take care of yourself!
Jaye, you, too. and Kel!
Thanks everyone for your "warnings"! I did have to sit down 2 or 3 times! I'm still gonna try to get some more done tomorrow. It's been a long time since I've felt like doing anything! Then, I'm going shopping! Whoopee!

Pangburn, AR(Zone 7b)

No, They are the rare Lipizzaner Stallions from Austria. If it wasn't for General George S. Patton saving them at the end of World War II from certain extinction, there would be no Lipizzans today. Check out this site. Its an interesting read.

Well, good night all.
Cathy

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

So, we're going to the birds eh?
Grew up around birds too. Dad's stepdad raised parrots. They're intelligent.
Had a budgie once. Tiffin could say a few words.. greet me every morning with a kiss and try to talk into the phone's mouthpiece.
Right now, I don't think the cats will tolerate a bird amongst them.

Stacey, one day at a time sweetie.

Was a good game I supposed. Cardinals going home without the trophy. I can hear Kim and Susan from here.. screaming!!!

We didn't watch the game, but was mersmerized with the paintings of Rev. Albert Wagner. Before that, they were showing a topiary artist from Bishopville, S. C. He's amazing creating great sculptures with plants. Pearl Fryar. One day, I hope to make a trip to see his work.

Night LK!

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Well, Ladies... it's late... and I've abandoned you all today, and I'm sorry about that... But, it turned out just wonderful. Had 13 people here today for food, poker and super bowl... I cheated... I put all the food on the bar... set the poker table up, and about 8 of us played poker instead of watching the game... I'd rather play poker... so I just told everyone to help themselves, and if it's not on the bar, just rummage through the fridge or pantry for it...
I WON... or at least I finished with more than I started with... not much...

Going to bed now... cause I'm pretty tuckered out... will see you all tomorrow.

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

I'm back.....caught the half time show then Judy and I were on the phone until about ten minutes ago! We had a great evening!! Learn a lot more on the phone....I am slow typist! We did have a really great visit...we are very happy that the ball game was on...and we are not really football fans!!!!!! We had a lot more fun!!

Working on something special for my Valentine Swap buddy....hope to have it finished tonight or tomorrow then I will have the last of my swaps out of the way for now!!!!

Chicken in the oven is about done....smells so good. Bill will be home from class in about half an hour which is good....Had Udon Noodles with snow peas for lunch but that was awhile ago!

Hope everyone had a great night...sleep well.

TabacVille, NC(Zone 7a)

What to know something funny. One day i had polly on top of his cage,he kept going back and fourth.Well my hubby was sitting in the chair beside him.I told him that polly was getting ready to fly in his lap, sure enough he flew in his lap and poop on him.I busted out laughing because every time he gets on my hubby he poops on him.I always have a towel around my neck for him to set on my shoulder, because he loves to stay on me and groom me.

Good night everyone!!!!!!!!!

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Sorry I disappeared, Bill came home early and was ready dinner.
Peetie is the son of a pair we had a long time ago...we hatched him about 17 years ago. His parents were tame but we never were able to get Peetie tame....he was always more interested in his cage mate when he was younger. We lost her several years ago. He is great, very interested in what goes on will come over and watch and talk to you, but doesn't want you touching him or getting him out of his cage. It has worked out well since ended up with a Feral Cat who only thinks of birds as Lunch.

Good night Cody and all......have a good night!
