If only we could go back, eh?
Spooks and ghosts and wheeping ladies...oh my Pt 4
The thing that "gets me" about the Ghost Hunters is that they KNOW they are on camera--at all times--so they all act goofy and say things and try to agravate the ghosts, etc..... Just takes away some of the reality of this. Like--WHY would ant ghost appear, when there is a whole camera crew around? Lights everywhere.....
Kwanjan--I also cannot "get into" the "Ghost Whisperer" show....Mostly, because she seems SO fake and always SO immaculately dressed---perfect make-up, etc.....and always has to have her cleavage showing.....You know what I mean......If she is meant to portray someone "realistic"...all that should not be there.....I watch it, occasionally.....
My daughter loves it! have NO idea why?????
I much prefer the "The Medium"--but have not yet watched that one either this year....BUT--It is more "realistic".....
Overall--I totally LOVE horror films and Ghost films.....
Gita
Same here, Gita. Love those horror movies. Ghoulies and ghosties and long-legged beasties...
Moe - I used to hear a mans voice in my old house. I got used to hearing him. I never heard footsteps.
I've never really gotten into the Ghost Whisperer show series. I'll watch Ghost Hunters once in a while. I like psychological thrillers - not guts and gore for me!
I have often thought about the whole camera crews and everything and how "lucky" they must be to catch an EVP or something on camera. However, I have had paranormal experiences during the day both indoors as well as outdoors.
Ghost Whisperer-NO
Medium-sometimes-show is interesting and I like the actress a lot
Ghost Hunters-when it's good-it's very good. . .
Anyone ever watch those shows called something like "A haunting in ______ (state)___" and it is an hour show retelling and showing personal experiences with the paranormal. They are thrilling and enjoyable but I don't know if they are reality based or not.
Have any of you had someone else tell you something is "in" your living space and you don't feel anything or hear anything or sense anything? I have been told a few times by different people (none of the people know each other or have heard about the comments of the others) that I have "something" in my basement. My niece told me (after she attempted to sleep over in my basement) that I have a young-ish man possible mentally disabled in my basement living near the bathroom. He is very scared of everything and everyone but especially me she said. I feel nothing down there at all and I know the feeling.
A friend and neighbor also said she felt a spooky feeling in the same general area and I laughed her off. And lastly, my mother felt something there as well.
My basement is a gorgeous living space with nothing that would visually spook anyone. My niece tried those metal rods to show me the energy (because I kept laughing her off) and they moved but I don't know much about them. They were those "L" shaped rods that you might see pictures from the olden days when people looked for water to dig a well. Anyway, it just goes to show ya, you might feel something one place and not in another place. My niece keeps telling me that the guy in the basement is mentally slow and very afraid of me because it's my house but likes to watch my kids play the video games in the basement. I thought it was amusing enough to share. Anyone else here experience anything like this?
Wow, has she tried asking him who he is, and other questions?
That's very interesting, MM. Same question. Perhaps you can go down and ask him what he wants. Maybe you can send him on his way. If he's frightened, maybe he needs some encouragement.
I don't feel anything down there, NOTHING. My niece is afraid of him. For some reason she is very spooked by him. He doesn't act normal she says but she thinks he is mentally disabled and nothing more but his mannerisms really scare her but she won't say anything more.
My niece is away at school and I can't remember what those rods were called. She was so funny walking around the basement so sheepishly with them to "prove to me" that there is an energy down there. It was probably the first time I said that I didn't believe something was there. Not like I doubted her but felt it wasn't possible because I would think I would have felt something. Anyway, at holidays, she still won't go downstairs in the basement even though all the other cousins are down there having a good time. I almost forgot that she feels something there.
Divining rods.
Re Divining Rods-----
Last summer, as you may know, I went back to visit my relatives in my Home Land of Latvia....
Our cousin's family owns a Summer cottage and garden there--about an hr's drive from their home in the City....So they took us there--and we had a nice "picnic" under their big, old apple tree....
She told us that there is an underground water source running under this tree. They KNOW it--because every time you cross the ground under it holding a divining rod-- the rod dips.....
Well--you KNOW I had to try it!!! Being the skeptic that I am....ahem.....
The rod they have is this metal rod that swings freely when you hold the handles in your hands. You have ABSOLUTELY no control over it!!!!
So--we all tried it--especially ME--as I am always open to new things and do not really question them.....I walked, on a diagonal, under this old tree--holding the rod tightly in my hands---and it dipped and dipped! I was not doing anything!!!!
These kind of, personal experiences, is what makes believers out of all the skeptics....
Since I have read this Post--I also believe in ghosts and Spooks and Spirits--because I know you all are not making this up.
I also have known people, personally, who have been through the "Near Death" experience and have told me about what they saw and felt.....
And--I believe them!
I also believe that unless you know the people, personally, that relate these kind of things to you--you will be the "skeptic"....until your Mom, or Dad, Or Cousin and Friend, or anyone else tells you of their experiences......AND--because you know them--You believe it to be true!
Gita
In whole-hearted agreement, Gita.
On the subject of near-death...anyone have stories for this phenonenon?
Not me, personally, but my mother nearly died in surgery nearly 50 years ago and said she saw Jesus at a brilliant white altar.
Gita: I know my Mom and understood her BUT until I had my own experiences I didn't believe her. . . I felt like such a little s_it about it (I wasn't a nice teenager . . .) but I did apologise when I came into my own experiences.
D-Rods-thanks. Do you know that you can just bend hangers into that L shape and they will work as well? Both types swung in my basement-even in my hands-the reason I bent a metal hanger into the "L" shape was because I really felt my niece was winding me up about feeling something in the basement. So here we are laughing are butts off with these rods in our hands and they just swing in the same direction. It was a little weird but a fun experience. I kept telling my niece there must be water there and we should dig a well in that corner of the room but the rods moved to different directions at different times. It was fun but I really don't feel anything down there. . .
LOL Too funny!
Kawonkamish Netopaog(Friends),
I love watching Ghost Hunters. It's a great show; the only problem I have with it is the background music. It's irritating, some times you can't hear anything that the guys hear, because of it...grrr. On another note, I've met both Jason and Grant at a lecture they did in Taunton, MA. They really are sweet and fun guys to be around.
Guess what... it's at it again. In previous posts, I've explained the layout of the house. The bathroom is one room away, the sewing room is in between my room and the bathroom, so when you exit my room the bathroom is on your right hand side. Well last night I decided to save on some electricity and not use the incandescent night light in the bathroom and instead I used an LED candle to light the room. Well, I went to bed around 2 am and slept straight through till morning(8 am). When I exited my bedroom, I looked to my right and saw that the LED candle was still lit, but also the incandescent nightlight was on. So much for my saving some electricity.
I know, it could have been that it was worried about my safety, but really... come on here, if I wanted the nightlight on, I would have put it on... lol.
Please keep the stories coming I love reading them.

I think the last time I wandered onto this chat site, was part 3. I've just read this entire thread ~ I knew I should hang out here more!
Is the Ghost Hunter show where they are walking around with some funny infra-something or other light and they shine it in their face alot? Haven't been able to watch that. Enjoyed your stories much more.
Mole, I have the book you are talking about, The Psychic Pathway by Sonia Choquette, Ph.D. I swear it has been trying to get my attention lately so now I'm definitely planning on re-reading it! It's been about ten or more years.. and it was one of those books that "literally" fell off of the bookshelf onto my foot at the store; which has happened to me on other occasions. Actually, I'm not really sure if I ever finished reading it the first time. I have many books on this and related subjects.
Another name is Dowsing rod that was used for "water witching" to locate wells, and I believe they called it that because the traditional Y-shaped branch used was from the Witch hazel tree. I've never tried it though I am a believer.
maccionoadha: It's probably just reminding you that they're there looking out for you even while you sleep.
Maybe the ghosts need the extra energy put out by the other nightlight...strange!
I'm always amazed at what they'll do to get our attention. I'd rather a light was left on than something dropped on the floor.
Some of you have mentioned that you were much more in tune to "spirits" when you were younger. My mom has said that I would play by myself alot and would come in and tell her about the different color animals and faeries that I was playing with. She said she would always go along with it and ask questions rather than suppresss my imagination. I do recall a tall ghost-woman that stood in our doorway every night and my sisters would be scared of her but I would tell them not to be afraid because she was a nurse and was there to look out for us.
I have noticed that one of my grandchildren is very sensitive. He is definitely psychic and/or can see "stuff". One example: My daughter and grandson were living in an apartment complex that had some bad activities going on there. Once they pulled a man from the lake who had drown. My grandson told me of the entire event in detail; like what the guy was wearing when they pulled him out, what his face and eyes looked like, where wounds were on his body, I mean every detail! Being upset that he was witnessing such a thing, I asked my daughter why she let him go down to the lake while they were pulling out dead bodies and she said he was nowhere near the area and had been asleep when it all happened. They are not living there anymore but my grandson would say there were evil spirits living all around those apartments. I think he was right because there were several people pulled dead from their unit, all drug overdoses.
Not a thing for a child's inner eye to see, that's for sure! I'm glad they moved from there.

Are you referring to the people with British accents, if so that sounds more like the Most Haunted show?... As for the nightlight, I guess so.
KyWoods: Maybe the ghosts need the extra energy put out by the other nightlight...strange!
I agree, it is a bit strange, but this morning is a bit stranger...
When I went to bed last night(totally exhausted), I left the high back chair in disarray. I left the arm protector clothes(not sure the correct term for them) askew and the head protector cloth(ditto on the terminology) was down in the seat behind the pillow. This morning when I went into the living room, the arm protectors were in place and the head protector was also up on the top of the chair back, in the correct place, perfectly centered. I seem to be residing with a neat freak... :-D
Now, if I can only train it to wash the dishes... ;-)

They can come to my house. Heh heh heh I have lots for them to do.
Wow, a ghost with OCD! Ask them if they like to pull weeds...lol
Kawonkamish,
OCD... lol. That does seem to describe it. :-D
Well, last night I turned the driveway motion-sensor light on, as I do every night. This morning, when I woke up, I went to turn it off. As I reached out to flip the switch off, I saw it was turned off. I'm not sure when it was turned off, if it was this morning or some time in the night. I've also been hearing that snapping noise from the kitchen again, these past few nights. It always starts around 7:30 pm snapping of and on, then stops around 10:30pm.
Well, I'm off to work. Have a good day all.

Hi everyone! Been MIA for a little while, loved catching up with the stories, too exciting!
Send them to my house too!
I've had two near-death experiences in my life and neither time nothing happened, just woke up like I was in an extremely deep sleep. I don't want to have another to have an experience, however.
Were these dreams, Crissy?
No, its way real. When I was 7 years old had major bladder/kidney surgery. A main artery busted a few days after the surgery and by the time they go to me my heart had stopped beating from lack of blood, took them a bit to get me going again. The second time I was 22 and at a friends house and passed out, she had to do CPR to get me going again, that Hurts! I didn't go to the dr for it, no insurance @ 22 and couldn't afford it, mom was and still is having major medical problems so didn't want to worry her with it (young and dumb) so I didn't tell anyone, my family still doesn't know, why tell them now, over 14 years later?? I've been put under 4 or 5 times since, told each dr about it, I pass all of the tests with flying colors and no signs of any problems while I'm asleep. I haven't had the problem since, so whatever!
Lucky you! You must be part cat. ☺
I had a strange dream last night. When I get back from the store, I'll tell.
Wow, crissy, so you're down to what, seven lives now?
Can't wait to hear about your dream, kwan!
I'm at the library now; just checked out more ghost story books.
I better tell it now before I go. Some of the details are starting to fade.
I had gone to a print shop to get some pictures printed from discs. I had about 400 pics and left with them. I was sitting on a beach looking at the pics, family, gardens, vacations. The beach had a rocky outcrop I was sitting on and the tide was coming in. One huge wave came up and pulled me off the rock and pulled me out to sea. I kept a tight hold on the pics and tried to swim back to shore, hoping the next wave would push me back. The pictures were pulled from my hands and I finally made it back to shore. My pics were scattered all along the beach. Someone came over and asked me what happened (a life guard, I think) and I told her how the ocean kept pulling my out when the tide was coming in. She said, "The ocean doesn't care." That's when I woke up.
That's kinda weird. Some of the things that we think of when we're asleep. I didn't sleep enough to dream last night.
Yea, I'm down to 7 lives, I should make it to 150 years old!
Interesting, kwan! Maybe it meant that the ebb and flow of life doesn't take into account the things we want to keep, it just keeps ebbing and flowing. I dunno, that's just what I made of it.
LOL, crissy, hey ya just never know!
Hmm...interesting take, Ky. Could be. I dream of the ocean a lot lately. Maybe because I miss it and moving to Oregon is on my mind a lot these days. It's not going to happen for 2-3 years but still...
I had a dream last night! I found an old friends coat at a restaurant and was going to take it to him, big deal! I'm sure this is from the other day with my friend. We were talking about wanting to hear some Barry White, so I mentioned my old friend who sounds just like him, and said that it's too bad I haven't talked to him in years and I'm sure he's in California anyway.
How many of you experience the ability to feel other people's true emotions? I sometimes can do this but only when they are extremely high or low.
Last Saturday I went to a party and hardly knew anyone but everyone was very friendly and fun. The next day the friend who hosted the party asked me if I had fun and I said yes and then out of the blue I blurted out that a certain person who appears on the outside to be very happy is very sad inside. My friend said she was just tired but I said no she is profoundly sad inside and feels she has no way out. I have to now wait and see what happens there because I can't exactly go up to a complete stranger and ask her about her deep feelings. On the outside she has it all by appearances sake.
This isn't the first time I picked up on emotions of others. I have had my past feelings confirmed within a short time of the experience.
LOL I can tell when someone's pissed off at me! I can't do that, wish I could!
LOL
I can do that, sort of. Most people can, I think, but they repress it as intrussive (sp?).
That could be.
I think it's true. We're taught at a very young age to respect other peoples personal space. We learn there are boundries and limits to what we can and can't do, and I think peoples thought and feelings are the same.
Any more dreams? I've been dreaming about cars lately. Some of you know why. LOL
