Sorry, Jim. I tried to find you an AV/Gessie type meeting for you to go to while you're there . . . but it would seem that the meetings of the Metairie club are currently suspended. Why don't you get your wife to send you a picture or two . . . you could say you want to change the wallpaper on your laptop . . .
February Blooms
shes been meanin to do that but somehow i dont get them, lol she forgets but means well
Jim, I have plenty of leaves for you..............and your wife better keep your plants alive (LOL) because I want leaves from you, too!! ^_^
My Playful Rainbow is getting its first blooms . . . but I don't know. I guess I'll have to let it bloom a few more times before I rule it out . . . It does have the star blossom, just not semi-double yet, which is ok. But instead of the rose-fuchsia fantasy edge, it's all fuchsia so far . . .
Or does that look more like a normal single blossom? I mean, in person all petals look to be the same size, but now I am not too sure . . .

Although I haven't grown avs in a while, let it keep blooming. Those first blooms sometimes don't even resemble what the adult plant will look like.
I hope so!
Syrumani...your Playful Rainbow isn't blooming correctly. Not unusual for fantasies as they are unstable and may not bloom true when grown from leaves. For general information. Always see if a fantasy is blooming true before purchase or have a gaurantee for replacement.
Playful Rainbow (8273) 07/28/1995 (S. Sorano) Semidouble pink star/blue and rose fantasy, rose-fuchsia edge. Medium green, plain, quilted. Standard

Bristol's Very Berry starting to open it's first bloom -
Jim, you need to be a little more persuasive. Take Beth down on a winter vacation.
Syru--lots of violets need 2 or 3 bloom cycles to bloom true. Hang onto it for now.Very pretty flower Goldleaf!
You must have a really good plant of Very Berry. Mine never looked that good, Goldleaf. Please save a leaf for me!
Always good advise, GoldLeaf, except that I got ALOT of leaves, plants, rooted cuttings, as gifts last year when I got hooked, so I can't really complain. I knew the bloom didn't look right from what I saw in FC, but it is a first bloom . . . I will be patient, and see if future blooms are more true. And, if not, there are people who like NOIDs (I hope!). The color in the pic isn't correct either, but I am still working on the new camera thing. It really is more a fuchsia color . . .
That strep is a awesome color goldleaf.I love reds ^_^
syrumani...the chances of your lavender blossom turning pink with fantasy are nil but that happens when growing fanatsies from leaves at times. It's still pretty and a good example of what can happen. I know people who when they get a particularly good strain of a fantasy violet, will propagate like a chimera to preserve it. I had a Rebel's Splatter Kake like that. The offspring from leaves planted were never quite as nice as the mother plant for some reason. The dark blue variety (sport) of RSK is called Rebel's Night Breezes.
On Bristol's Very Berry. I love the way the outer edges and flower reverse are coral and the inner color is fuschia. My photo doesn't show that as well as in person. I will save you a leaf cutting, Gail and Jannich if you want one. And, I will propagate more as I like this one.
Rebels Splatter Kake -
GoldLeaf--I think your Rebel's Splatter Kake that you have the pic of there might actually be the chimera sport called Rebel's Astro Spinner...
Oh, well. That will make it easier to separate from the rest. There is someone that has wanted to trade for NOIDs, so I can add that one to the list!
Thanks, mermaid. I kinda thought it was too but wasn't sure as I grew it as a regular RSK. See how these fantasies are? Lots of sports. Here is a pic from another Rebel's Splatter Kake.
Syrumani...don't feel bad, it happens all the time. I have a trailer, Ramblin' Spots, that's supposed to be fantasy (grown from a leaf) and not a bit of fantasy to be seen. It's now a pretty plain pink variegated trailer.
Beautiful pictures everyone! Goldleaf, that last blossom is amazing. The Strep.has great color, too.
Lynn
Now that I see the blossom of Ramblin' Spots in the photo, do I detect a few spots?
Thanks, ibrabec.
I see some on the center blossom.

Interesting sport discussion! No accounting for how some kids turn out! LOL
GoldLeaf--my heart skipped a beat when I saw the thumbnail of Ramblin Spots--At first, thought it was one that just started blooming for me yesterday, Rob's Vanilla Trail, another of Belinda's gifts last year. Not the best pic...
Thanks Lynn--I would have missed it today!
What a cute blossom! ^_^
Thanks--it is dripping with cuteness. I'm really happy with it.
What darling flowers, Phoebe and Goldleaf!
I haven't caught up on all my reading.....lazy's my middle name, but I thought I'd post a few pictures. I think I love taking pictures of my plants more than anything else in the world. LOL Definitely more than repotting! LOL
Here's first bloom from Thompson's 'Rainbow's End' -- My favorite strep today!!!
Wow,Roxanne. They are all so pretty it's hard to pick a favorite.
Lynn
Love Rainbow's End..
Sinn Country Bittersweet...lots of impact with the brilliant color.
Little Misty Blue...darling chimera and one I've not seen or heard of before.
Rob's Slap Happy (9040) 05/31/2001 (R. Robinson) Semidouble dark coral pansy. Crown variegated dark green, white, cream and pink, quilted. Semiminiature
Beautiful flowers, Roxane. I especially like Amanda's Penny. The color is georgeous.
Little Misty Blue is a pretty one too. I have to add them to my ever-growing list of wants.
Goldleaft, that Rob's Slap Happy is beautiful. Are the leaves pink or is that just a reflection of the flowers? I love it. Another one for my list.
gorgeous photo's everyone!!!
Slap Happy is a beauty! So much white foliage.I saw an AV at a nursery the other day that was variegated like a Palamino pony.I couldn't trust their crazy labeling system,so I don't know what it was.Bright green leaves, lots and lots of white in spots more than streaks.
