February Blooms
no greenhouse here. Couldnt afford the heat bill, so a green house remains a fantasy. But my living room has floor to ceiling panels of glass and glass doors as well. Southern exposure! Too much for AV's but everything else loves it. I keep my amaryllis yesr after year. Of course I have to Take them in for the winter. If you fertilize them regularly ( i use bone meal) them they rebloom in about 4 months. In the summer I plant them outside. I have had them bloom as much as 4 times/year.
since you are in zone 9, they are hardy. If you grow them outside they arent so leggy.
i have been waiting for a year to see Tarjar roger W. in bloom. someone sent me a leaf which turned out not to bloom true. Then I bought it twice and lost in in my bug wars. Luckily, i had stuck a leaf down & this morning it opened. what a beauty!
It's rather an old strep, so I am sure lots of people here will have a leaf to share. my start has two leaves. When I saw how nice it was, I stuck one, so now it has one leaf!
i really like it. I am learning that while most streps are pretty, i do not need to grow all of them. So I am beginning to make a list of favorites. That way, I will enjoy more of the ones I truly love & have room to grow them out well. Of course, if a greenhouse ever did appear, all bets are off! lol!

Well, I stuck some leaves resulting from the "incident" last night. Come summer, I will be up to my eyeballs in Buckeye Collosal, Montgomery Silver Frost, and Funambule. 18 leaves between the 3. I repotted 3 this morning . . . Wrangler's Spanish Cavalier, Mindi Rose, and something else . . .
Nic, that is great so please keep me in mind for sharing... ^_^ I had two of three Museum of Arts bloom today. The picture is not the greatest but after it opens all the way I will take pictures again....

Museum of Art is my very favorite strep. I lost mine. I keep hoping that some little leaf will throw up a black bud but it doesnt look well. could you save me a leaf please?
yes as long as you remind me down the road you want it...LOL just a few more weeks for us and we should be able to ship in Va... or at least in my part...
