Hey Jim! Hybridize a mini of Bristol's Sunset for me will ya??? LOL!
February Blooms
very pretty, phoebesviolets. Love the color.
How would you guys like to have 2200 sq ft of shelf space? That's bigger than the house I'm currently renting!
Did I miss something? Why do you ask?
Gail let me borrow her "Pittman way of growing" cd . . . I was watching it this morning, and it said at some point, they had 2200 sq.ft. of shelf space . . . I'd have to wait until I won the lottery and the kids were in college before I could have that much space! The cd also said that they had up to 40 leaf trays at one time . . .
Holey Moley!!! Guess we won't be growing Pittman's way anytime soon! Last time I won the lottery, I won $3!!! hahaha...
i love it here,id move if i could talk beth into it,lol
someday i want to live in a warmer climate, but with grandkids someday,i doubt we will get far from them
JIM

Pink Leyla is to die for!!!
very pretty Sally! I kinda like the name too
Morning! Pretty pictures everyone. ^_^
Nice african violet, Sally!
Good morning, everyone.
Beautiful pictures, everyone. Speaking of pictures, can anyone point me to a picture of strep Coral Kisses? I have one that's blooming for the first time but the color is decidedly wine-colored, not anywhere near coral! I don't have a camera yet, so can't post a pic. Thanks! Sarah

THIS IS a link to "CORAL KISS" ON THE AVSA website
Thanks, Phoebe. That looks like an AV--very pretty by the way. But I'm looking for a picture of the strep with the same name. Sarah
It appears that there is a British one named Sarah and Neil's Sarah.......

Love all the pictures, expecially Fire n Ice, Pink Leyla, and the AV Gaudy Lady.
Have to add them to my list.
Gail, I think I may need to add those to my rapidly growing (in individual plant size and number of plants) collection. Some of my leaves are getting so huge that I can see some babies in my future!
Sarah
What are you going to add, Sarah? Which kind of leaves have you stuck.......african violets or streps.......or both (LOL)
The list of things I want to add is too long to put in writing LOL! I'm going to stick strep leaves as soon as I get the trays and pots (should be this week). I only have one AV (so far!), and I don't know if it would bloom true from a leaf cutting. And I'm chicken to cut and root the crown. LOL.
Get you a little solo plastic cup (you get the 3 ounce ones at the grocery store)......put an av leaf in 1/2 perlite and 1/2 vermiculite.....put it in a baggie.....and ye shall have babies in about 6 weeks. They will be true to the mother, also.
Will the babies be true to the mother even if it is a chimera (sp)? I'm not sure this one is, but I think it is.
Anyway, since you all talk about all your strep babies, I caught the bug and can't wait to try for my own. Gail, it's all YOUR fault! LOL
Thanks, Phoebe. That looks like an AV--very pretty by the way. But I'm looking for a picture of the strep with the same name. Sarah
Sorry Sarah! I seem to have more AV neurons in my brain than anything else!...I wondered why yhe name was different! Ask Gail--streps tend to confuse me! ^_^
you can not put a leave down of a chimera, has to be a sucker for it to be the same.
bonnie
That's what I thought, Bonnie. Thanks.
After I posted I thought about maybe you having a chimera, but didn't think so............
I don't have room anymore for anything but streps (LOL). I refuse to buy another stand............I can't take care of the front porch and the inside streps as it is now, but I am still propagating all the time.
I'll get my want/have list updated and maybe we can trade in the spring. I've got two in bloom now, and one more in bud. I'm so excited. I WANT MORE!!! LOL
They are addictive............I still want more!
They are addictive - streps AND av's . . . here I am, looking to narrow down the plants I have, but am already making a mental list of how many leaves I want to start next winter . . .
Aren't we all guilty. I have already started trading......waiting on two boxes tomorrow as if I need more leaves of streps and more plants!!
You guys are such a BAD influence for this newbie. LOL
i always want more,save me a few starts Gail,ok
JIM
my wife says the streps are still alive, but i can feel them missing me,they get a lot of attention from me
