If you get all of them at the same time it will be so expensive that you may miss paying some of your bills that month hahahha
Some blooms from my Florida gardens 2
They're the diseases that we have cures for, but don't want the cure. LOL
that disease is present from birth in my family for many generations it just keeps on going my girls at 9 and 10 have displayed symtoms since the age of two hahhahah
Oh, that's wonderful. It's genetic, too!
of course its inherited they are born with little green thums hahahhaha
At this time of year it's important for mental health to have something green or blooming. Could not get to HD yesterday---had to get truck to son instead---but maybe tomorrow. I need flowers!
Leave a garden center empty handed, are you serious? I'm just glad they have those nice big wagons, you can fit a lot of stuff on those. Nice score on the broccoli plants, sounds like a very logical purchase. Not really buying plants, more like health foods. :)
I take detours to not drive by certain garden centers because I know it will cost minimum 100 dollars if I just drive by hahahahha
Katye - Exactly!!! You get it!
Mona, Jan, Robin and Pat.......All of you get it.......whew! It's not just me! We must all be quite normal since this is a common behavior among all of us....So, my conclusion is that majority rules and we should all practice this normalcy of behavior as often as possible in order to avoid being dysfunctional sociopaths! LOL
John, I have all of those disease except compostitis. Garbage makes me gag. LOL That is a beautiful photo of the butterfly and flower. Lovely!
Now, here is a shot of Seminole Sam with his "hair", some very pretty paperwhites.
Oh, and by the way, that thermometer on the tree outside the sun room read 28 degrees this morning. We will have to cover things again tonight, if it makes you guys feel any better! LOL
We had ice in our bird bath this morning too.
hahah ya right does not make me feel better since my four foot tall bird bath is nowhere to be found
where did it go well let me tell you
it got buried in snow in mid december it was completely covered and I have not seen it since,
so if anyone sees my birdbath let me know ok promise
hahhahah
I just love your little painted guys "do". The perfect choice. My compliments to the stylist. :)
I'm afraid both of my birdbaths have sprung a leak. After shoveling the snow and trudging out there with water they developed a slow drip drip drip and emptied out before they could even freeze again. They are both old so now I will have to get a couple new ones. Not sure if I want resin or metal or molded concrete or what. What do you all prefer?
Oh, Louise! My heart is JUST breaking!!
^_^
mine are cast iron so no worry about leaks I had the thin metal ones and they only last a couple of years after replacing them once I got smart pay a little more and dont pay again
Mona - that's some story about your buried bird bath!
Pat - glad you like Sam's fashionable crew cut! As to what kind of bird bath I like, well I've attached a photo of one of my three terra cotta pot bird baths. I like to have them low to the ground for all the birds that come as well as all my neighborhood cat visitors who come to slurp in comfort. They are easy to take apart and store in our shed when we leave. In NH I have a taller cast iron birdbath that my DH gave me for my birthday. The only negative about that is that I have to scrub it whenever I fill it. It gets some sort of orange junk on it. Maybe our well water has too much iron in it.
Willie - you are a rascal!!
that is a nice one I like it my way it would crack by november lost some pots that way to the ice expands and hair line cracks appear and they are then ruined
Yes, you'd have to take it in before a hard freeze.
I dont get it, it says you are a zone 5 did you go south for the winter ?????????????????
Yes. We live in NH, but spend the winter in south Florida in zone 10.
aha not fair you are warm while Im so cold
Although I really do like winter and colder temps, I don't enjoy when places that aren't supposed to be frozen, get frozen. All those poor, defenseless plants!
When I lived in Houston, I missed the annual thickening of my blood! And the rains, too!
How much damage did the crops suffer down there by you, Louise??
I have yet to hear much in the news.
with all the extreme cold we have gotten this winter I am sure that I have lost some of my babies like my butterfly bush no way it survived and also my rose of sharon is looking sad many broken branches and all
Willie - it was very sad to see how the farmers' tomato crops looked this morning on the news. There were also huge fields of dead ferns, and they were saying that Valentine's flowers will be more expensive this year, because these are the ferns that get shipped everywhere to go with the roses and other flowers in bouquets. Sad. My Edison brug got nipped on its tallest stalk, but the one in the back that had the flowers didn't have any damage. We had covered the tomatoes and green bean babies and other tender tropicals, so I hope things will be ok. It takes a couple days to see the extent of the damage. We just came in from a walk and it was quite warm out there. Looks like the cold wave is over.
Mona - I hope you haven't lost many babies! I've never lost a butterfly bush, but this may be the year. Bummer!
President Obama is coming to town in the next week to press his stimulus agenda. They said he chose this town because of the high unemployment rate. Maybe we'll go see him. Tomorrow we are going to a big Art Fest downtown. I have my eye on the winning poster selected by an artist in the area called Blue Heron Sunset. It is quite pretty.
I saw that on the news. They said the citrus crops should be okay but the tomato crop was a loss pretty much. Another blow to people already struggling. If you go to see the president you will have to tell us all about it and good luck tomorrow with your poster shopping and art ogling. Sounds like fun. I understand they are saying the cold is on the way out for down there and even up here we will get a tiny bit of the warm.
Pat - I'm sending you good, warm vibes for a nice weekend! They aren't yet disclosing where the Town Hall meeting will be held here with the President. I am guessing we won't be able to get anywhere near it. I was hoping it would be an outdoor event so more people could go. I hate crowds though, so I'll probably catch it on McNeil/Lehrer! LOL
That's another thing I miss about FL--the craft fairs! We went to one on Lover's Key that had a real live FL panther--he was kind of moth-eaten, but friendly---the poster boy for the Save the Panthers group. Glad the cold is going--here, too. Loved the bird baths, Louise. I have a copper one---the pole is gone--son took it for something---so I just place it on the garden fence---keeps the birds away from my pointer!
I love the county fairs they have stuff for everyone including me since they always have a horticultural area, and the horses with all the events that is all I do from the 1 of september we have a fair at one place or another every weekend till the end of octorber its great learn of kinds of stuff fromt he old farmers.
Robin and Mona - Well, we went to the Art Fest and it was terrific. We bought the selected artist's signed poster as a mutual gift for Valentine's Day. Then when we got back to our car, it had been creamed with a note on the windshield with a name and number with a phone disconnected. Ugh. Phone search hasn't produced much. Yuk.
ouuuch DonniBrook
Just checking in here.
Love to know its warm somewhere.
Your garden photos are great.
What a way to ruin an Art Festival!! Dagnabbit!! Good thing you were not in it at the time!!
Maybe it was parked somewhere where there was some surveillance on it?
Thanks, JoAnn! Fortunately I didn't have very much damage from the frosts.
Sherrie - we're debating whether it will be worth the trouble to involve the police or not. It's considered a fender bender and here they usually tell you to just exchange info and deal with it.
Willie - You are so right. We were parked in a space on the Main Street in the downtown area. Two panels of the car are crunched and scraped. The name and phone number are written on the back of a card for a local doctor's office. I think we'll start there tomorrow and see if that gives us a lead.
Oh, bummer, Louise. Good luck!
Oh, that's awful, Louise! Sorry to hear it.
Well that just stinks!
What was the point of leaving that number???
With a note on the windshield with a name and number with a phone disconnected on the back of a doctors card. It sounds fishy to me.
The point Victor is if there is an accident you leave your number, address etc. and the insurance companies go from there.
I would want name, address, number, licence plate and license number. If the phone is disconnect it could happen but grrrrrrrrr
Rats, Louise! Someone probably saw the accident, so the perp left fake info--you might want to put an ad in the paper---someone may have gotten a license plate number.
No - I know that Sherrie. I meant leaving a non-working number.
It does stink. I suspected it might be as Robin mentioned....someone was watching, so the person made it look like he or she had left us their info. In Fla. it is a misdemeanor "hit and run" if you leave a fender bender without leaving name, phone, address AND insurance company. Since we have a $500 collision deductible, we won't be filing a claim with our own insurance and asking for higher rates! Bugs me when people don't take responsibility. We'll call the doctor's office tomorrow just in the chance that they may know someone by that name.....whether they'll give us contact info is another story, but I will ask them to let the person know that we'll turn it over to the police if we don't hear from them. We know a great guy here who does wonderful work on scratches and scuffs, so Hank put in a call to him to give us a price on fixing it. Just call us the Fla. stimulus for the economy. LOL
