Thank you, Victor, Willie and JoAnn for those very kind and comforting words. Mixed in with the tears, we each (my son included) mention her special characteristics and her fun personality, along with some happy memories of her. The most poignant one that will let you know just how much she always wanted to be a good girl is the morning she died. We were very concerned about her dehydration and not wanting to drink any water. I put her bowl in front of her and knelt down to have a talk with her. I said to her, "Molly, sweetheart, please drink some water for me if you can so we can help you." We know now that the nausea kept her from drinking, but she put her face down in the bowl, and even though she didn't drink, she held her face down in the water bowl just above the water for several minutes to do what she was asked. She was the smartest little dog I've ever seen.

We are so sorry to hear of your loss...As we have four little rascals...we know the pain you are feeling..I lost two of my furry friends this past year, and know that nothing I say can really help or comfort you....ONLY time will do that...Do know that we think of you and will keep you in our prayers and thoughts.

Our animals give l00% love to us and in turn, folks like you and us give 110% back...The days will pass and you will heal and look back on the time your little furry friend spent with you with love and affection... We are so sorry of the sorrow you must feel....but recognize the love you have given... So sorry of your loss.

love John and Liza

Louise, I am so very sorry about the death of your dear little Molly. I loved seeing her in the collage, especially the photo of her on the old lawn chair in her lavender bandanna looking "ever so". What a sweetie. Patti

Mona, John, Liza, Allison, Jan and Patti - your words bring such comfort and I am most grateful for what each of you said. The tears just won't stop yet, so I'm hiding behind sun glasses for now. There is no human on earth uglier than I am when I cry, so I am sparing that horror for as many as I can. I actually scared myself this morning when I got up and looked in my mirror. OMG....it's a horror show.

As you all know, it's all the little things that remind you and hurt. The sunflowers help, and Patti, that is a lovely shot as well. Thank you all so much!

I'm with you on being ugly when I cry...very scary!

Louise---I'm so very sorry---glad I got a chance to see her last Oct.---she was very sweet & good. Grieve all you need to--it's healing. And know that Molly is over the Rainbow Bridge---no more pain.

Thank you, Marilyn, for those kind words. I know you are among those of us who dearly love our furry family members.

Hope you guys are feeling better, Louise.

Not sentimenal here but poochies are part of the family. Sorry for your loss.

Thanks, Sherrie! Love your constantly changing location!

Thanks, Victor. We're up and down. Tomorrow we will go to pick up her ashes at the funeral home, and we'll bring them to the farm to bury her with her two beloved, protective "brothers", Cody and Max.

I took some photos this morning, and this one was particularly cheery. Thanks for the thoughts!!

Sorry to hear about Molly, Louise. Losing a pet is so painful.

I know it's too soon to do right now, but sometimes it's comforting to plant something in honor of a loved one.

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Thank you, Cyndie. We are doing better each day. We brought her ashes home yesterday and both of us are feeling better knowing she is here. I planted a calla lily in memory of her today. It has now been a week without her, and the healing has begun, as opposed to the sharp edges of early grief.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Good to hear that you guys are healing, Louise. Please post a photo of the calla.

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Thanks, Victor....will do. It has yellow flowers and a pretty speckled leaf. I also have some new dahlias blooming, so I'll get myself out there and get back to posting some photos! LOL

The calla lily is planted in the left foreground of this bed. It's a bit droopy from the transplant, but I'll post another shot once its yellow blooms can be seen.

Hi Louise!!!!! when are you coming back????

Mona in Metcalfe, ON(Zone 5a)

I love callas I have a very large collection of them, but at the moment mine are all sleeping in the cold storage they will go back in the ground first week in may and will bloom starting end of june till end of august my favorite is picasso the colors are amazing people look at it and think it is fake

as if I would or could ever put plastic fake flowers in my garden no fakes in my house ever

mona

Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

Mona, I killed all my callas last year... for some reason I am not very good with them! I better stick to roses...lol!

Louise, how's Hank??? I am so sorry to hear about Molly! I just went back to the top of the tread and just read about it... oh my heart is broken for you and Hank! oh sweet Molly! big hug and hope to see you guys this year again!

Mona in Metcalfe, ON(Zone 5a)

plant them with bulb fertilizer and make sure they are right side up very important and only two inches of soil on top of them, many times people plant them to deep and water soluble fertilizer every two weeks I use miracle grow and they grow like mad with lots of bloom also important good drainage they actually prefer mix of peat and sand no wet feet for these guys

I have been collecting and planting them for 15 years or so only lots one and it was that it was to wet and they do really well in part shade to cut out the hottest part of the day
I would not give up with just one bad experience it would make me more determined to have them since they are so beautifull and look tropical in the garden with that foliage

Nantucket, MA(Zone 7a)

scicciarella, Do you plant your callas in pots or in your beds outside the first week in May? I know you said "ground", but I was so surprised. I love a similar calla called Vemeer. I have planted mine mostly in pots.

So here is one for Molly. Patti
