Welcome 2009 Gift.
Your gift to your assigned sistah/niece should be in the mail by now. But... like Marion would say.. you can't hurry perfection. So, if you think you're gonna be late sending it out, dmail me, and I'll inform your sistah/niece.

Is this an empty room?
Nope... LOL
I will be back later on.. I have to take the Wheelie up to the office....Grrrr
Shucks, I was about to spread out my quilt and baste it together. Guess I will need to pick it up now that Dusty is here. LOL
Hello,
What projects are everyone working on today? I'm rearanging my hobby to accomdate my sewing. Need to start making the Barbie clothes. And making candles.
I'm here.. hey Maid M.
I do have exactly a yard of rooster fabric, the latest from Blank Quilting. Gray background. But she can use red for bindings, ties and pockets and maybe a cute collar.
Just bought it last month at my quilting store.. it's 9.99 per yard. If she want more, I can run down to the store and get more for her. No problems at all BJ.. he he he.. Maid M understands how we LOVE to help quilters;)
Yes Jaye, that is Jesse.
PTL when I start feeling sorry for myself he brings up something like this to let me know I don't have it bad at all, that there is always someone so much worse of than we are.
What is happening to her?
Think Jesse's on the Prayer Forum too..
Hi Cindy! I'll be cutting out another apron for a gift. Will try to make it reversible. You know me.. won't be planning it out on newspapers first, like I'm supposed to.. just measure and 'guesstimate'!! Lolol!!
Sistahs who are facing much more harsher weather than us, please be safe.
Sistahs who are seeing doctors.. specialists... hope your reports are good.
LK, we pray you have a good trip returning home. I bet you can't wait to get back to your sewing again!
Judy and Deborah, how's the will power to stay off ciggies coming along?
BRB.. phone..
That is half the fun of quilting to me--being able to share what I have with others. Is that wierd? Nope just the way I am.
I have been reading about all the bad weather moving in on some of our group. Please, please be as careful as you can. It is to be in the upper 70's today but by the weekend we are to have another blast of cold air. Rough as the dirt keeps calling my name!!!
Afternoon Cindy, I am actually working on the data base and getting some confirmation letters ready to go into the mail for the festival. Just check here every now and then. I want to be at my sewing machine but this has a deadline so.......
I have not recovered from our ride yesterday.....I am still freezing......beginning to wonder if I will ever get warm again...was 19 degrees here this morning.....supposed to get up to a glorious 38 later in the day....we DO have sunshine today.
Getting my 7 Item Swap finished up today I hope....made quite a bit of progress last night on that......then I get started on some of my leather projects and finish the current Santa I have started.......maybe I can even find my dining table under there somewhere.
That Rooster fabric is sooo cute!
Tia, is that the same storm coming to me tonight? I dread it! Total electric. Not much cover for my bed. I depend on electric matress cover. Not much bread, no money for sandwich stuff! I'm gonna open some cans to eat cold, just in case! I'll pile on coats, afghans, lapquilts, and go to bed! Supposed to last for 3 days. Ugh!
You ladies go through these room like flying colors.HEHEHE
Well, ladies, just checking in so you don't think I'm MIA. I'm lurking and occassionally letting you know that I'm here. Watching and reading what I can.
I have to tell you, the item I'm making for the 7 Item Mystery Swap, made me sick last night. It cracked and I'm besides myself on what to do. I have sooo many hours working on this thing and to see it do what it did, just made me sick. I was almost in tears. More upset than sad. Not upset, totally POed.
Don't know what I'm going to do yet. Well see. I'm just so ill to my tummy over it.
Anyway. Back to work. If hubby would leave me alone maybe I can get on tonight.
Lisa
Lolol.. don't we chatter!!! It's free and keep us warm being indoors Cody!!
I looked throught the Prayer Forum and couldn't find Jesse's thread. Hmm... that was a long, long, time ago.
Audrey, might have to double up on socks too.. better yet, call your sweetie over, and he can keep you warm :D Jokes aside, I hope your power won't be hampered.
38 would feel like the tropics to you Trisha.. now, do you get to stay indoors all day today? Or will you be taxi-ing someone. Actually your family is so lucky you're dependable. Something happens to Kel, I might have to call on strangers... or the church folks.
It's not a usual morning for us today. Last night, when we left the house for the second time... Kel spotted a dead cat on the road. He stopped to pick the cat up to move it out of the road, and it was one of our 9 month old fur babies. :(
They normally don't roam far.. the road was about a mile from the house. And Kumquat was buried about 2 hours ago. The only silver one in the whole group. When Kumquat was laid in a box last night, his Mama, Tootsie just sat next to the box all night. Don't tell me animals don't grieve.
Sadly, Kumquat was the only pet we didn't take a photo of, never knew he'd leave us so soon.
We bid him farewell and asked him to send our love to all our beloved pets that are waiting ahead of him.
Mama Jaye, sorry to hear about one of your babies.

Hey everyone
I made it out alive...lol Spent my entire morning sorting reciepts and adding up figures.. My sister i staking an accounting class and wont even do her own so she paid me to come work for her.. She says I work faster than she ever could and sadly its true.. Was nice though I ran into several old customers who gave me the best huggs ever.. even made a fe wpossible landscaping jobs come to life which will be nice.
MY hands are worn out though.. whewww
Deborah my sister does sprea dthe word a bit for other local small business that need a hand with paperwork and she says she does pass out my cards for landscaping but hr husbnad has acompany doing landscaping so I dont hear much on that end. .
Luara good to see you posting .. I wandered where you had been lately..
Marion I feel your pain.. I keep going out and playing in the dirt in between cold snaps..lol Very pretty today I may head out in a bit to get a few things done..
Sisiers in the north please stay safe and especially warm!
Aww Jaye Im so sorry to hear about your furbaby..
Good afternoon sistahs... !!!
I'm so late getting here... sorry.
Don discovered this morning that my laptop harddrive was completely full, and would not respond to some programs anymore... sheesh... I told him that months ago... I've worked on removing some, but I'm so afraid to delete something that might shut me down completely, that I didn't get rid of much.
So, we've been all morning deleting and removing programs and files I don't need anymore... and I do think we got them all... but it took forever.
Guess what.... I heard back from Dusty this morning... we've compared notes, and she does have my brother in her journal.... he passed through her hospital before they sent him home. Amazing, huh?
Also, Guess what else? My AFS coordinator still wants me to go to Denver, even though I don't qualify... she's going to work to get me qualified before time to go... I have to actually be trained to be a volunteer, and be taught what the conference is all about. I'm really excited about this... I think I've needed something like this for a long time.
PLUS... she said it IS possible for me to take Mike with me... He doesn't know yet, and I can't wait to see his face when I ask him if he wants to go to Denver, Colorado.
Another GUESS WHAT... this one, even I can't believe... I'm having my very own Super Bowl Party... and I don't even watch football... LOL
All my son's and their families and some friends will be here... and I'll be on duty to serve them all the Super Bowl Party foods...
Only doing this so Mike can experience yet another AMERICAN tradition.
Ok, I think that's all my "guess whats"
So, now... What does Jesse need in Texas... ????? I don't know her, but will help with what I can.
Cody, how are you feeling, sistah?
Jaye, so sorry about Kumquat... I'm sure he'll be missed by you and all the other furry friends he's made there at your house.
Now, I need to go think about getting something out to cook for dinner... been sitting here all day doing clean up on the hard drive, and have gotten NOTHING done today.
I'm feeling alot better BJ thanks so much for asking.
BJ you sound lik eyou have your hands really full.. It all wonderful news to hear congrats are due to you on all accounts and football whooo hooo.. The last party I had was for the championship when the bucks playe dthe gators and it was just a few people but boy o boy was I over it quick when my team did what they did. We still had a great time even though we lost badly...lol
Your Dh sounds alot lik eMax.. I can complain until the cows come home but he doesnt get to it until it effects him and he gets mad.>Roflol I just sit back and smile,,
OH Jaye, :( I'm sorry to hear about your kitty. My Boo Kitty hasn't been feeling too good. He's been sleeping a lot and not eating. He's very listless.
Donna, that's certainly uplifting news to see that your're led into the right situations!! Here's hoping you'd get more opportunities. I guess you learn quick that competition is the worse ad for your business, even though it's family :D
After Kumquat's buried, all his siblings gathered around the grave. That made me bawled out more!!!!
Enough of sadness..
Here's the Steam Boat/ Hot Pot meal that you missed Trisha. It's an electric wok-like but with a center piece heating element, besides the bottom, so the broth will be heated all around.
There were so many plates of food stuffs to be cooked in the broth. Fresh oysters, shrimp, thin slices of lamb, squid, clams, fish balls, shrimp balls, pork balls, 3 different plates of fish cakes, dried beancurd, fresh tofu, taro cubes, hard boiled eggs that were peeled and then fried whole, shiitake mushrooms, oyster mushrooms and romaine lettuce.
We all chose what meat we want to eat, dropped them in the boiling liquid, and scooped them out once they're cooked. It's like a communal cooking pot.
Ladies i'm going to take a nap while my baby is asleep. So i will chat with you all later.Chow for now but not for ever☺
Guess the information I was going to bring over didn't post, will try again.....this is Jesse's situation Here is what Betty wrote:
JESSE UPDATE...
Just spoke to Jesse..
I know we've all been through hard times at one time or another and somehow we've managed to pull through, always a bit of light broke through the harshness of the day, a light that gave us the will to go one...
I personally don't know how this young woman continues..I am so sure there are many more like she but at this minute it's Jesse that somehow I hope we are ble to help ...
Jess no longer has internet service so is unable to communite with anyone..
When I called she was crying, she was in pain!!! The air mattress she bought no longer keeps air in for any amount of time..has patched it up but no keeps air in for any length of time...every few hours she has to wake to refill... because of her illness, sleeping on a hard floor surface is creating a multiture of other problems..
Her husband (NOT saying DH at this point) didn't pay the hydro so she was without heat during the coldest part of the month...she is without meds as she must contact apply to Human Health & Resources..because it's 30 miles away she has no way of getting there, closest bus stop is 1 1/2 miles from her apartment..she was given a number where they would do the application by telephone however when she calls the number she was given it's a 'press 1/press3/press1 type answer and no human picks up the call...
Her hydro is due again today although hubby says he's no funds to help...so she's not sure what will happen if he doesn't...
So there she sits, no furniture, has a t.v. but no reception, computer system but no service..no meds..says she continues to pray and trust the Lord but many a day she wonders why she should go on..what life there is for her here on earth...
Not being from the USA can any of you tell me what kind of discount chain store might have mattresses????
In regards to getting Social and Health Services:………
Delane and Laura..her main problem is trying to get to an office as she's about 30 miles away..
She contacted several offices who say they help but they want her coverage number in order to help, but she can't get the number unless she gets help to get there..vicious circle I would say..not sure of how USA system works so can't comment on how she should go about it..
I told her I'd call tomorrow BUT don't want to use up all her air time on her telephone then what would she do???
Hmmm... wouldn't all the flavors get all mixed up eventually? Did they ever change the water so that didn't happen?
Mama Jaye, all that looks good.Hope you enjoyed it.
The water becomes the broth for our soup! And it's delicious BJ.
Chinese have been doing this for centuries. The old steam boat pots were heated on clay braziers. Warm up the whole family that way, sitting around the fire :D
BJ, did you notice the rooster cloth?
Okay, these are their sons, getting their ang-pows from us. We're the only ones that give them that, beside their parents. If they're back in China, they'd be having more!
Trisha, I thought Jesse's an American, married to an Aussie.. moved to Aussie, got abused there.. then returned here. Poor child.
Do you have her addy??
She might try the Goodwill or S.A. store. Sometimes they have furniture there.
Jaye, I dmailed you about the rooster fabric... did you see?
Now I do.... :D
Jaye, I am feeling your sorrow. It is so sad to lose a pet but the way you did is worse. About a year ago I found one of Kim's dead in the carport--looked like he was just walking and fell over. Vet said he had a heart attack and went in a flash but still it was so hard to have to tell her when she got home and then bury him. Daylilies are his marker now---where he liked to sleep in the sun.
Great news about Denver BJ. Urrgh-don't even mention computers!!! Mine goes to the shop tomorrow to have it's attitude adjusted so I will have to use the laptop for a few days. Still not comfortable with that keyboard or mouse--guess I will learn.
Sweet nap, Rose. Wish I could take one but have a deadline staring me in the face.
Nice looking boys!!
BJ, cooing all those things in the water makes it into a broth just like you make for your soups.....it is realllly goooood!!!
So sorry Jaye, I know first hand what that is like......we lost one of our last cats that way.....it is really hard...that is why my cat is an inside kittty, just like little kids, she gets Supervised outside visits.
Maid M.. his grave's facing East, as he loved sunbeams. We'll plant daylilies too..
Kel and I are thinking of cooking our food that way in the future. We didn't have rice, potatoes nor bread. One hour after we ate all that.. I did a glucose check. It was @ 98!!!!!! Never before had I been that low after a meal!!!!
BJ, we're so excited for you too!!! Denver again!! Don't forget to order pizzas too for Michael's first superbowl party! That's another tradition!
Oh Trisha, we would love to have all in the house, if only our house is big enough!!!
3 cats and 2 dogs indoors are taxing our space :D There are 7 outside now and we noticed another stray coming into our yard, right after we buried Kumquat. Hmm.. we might name him Loquat.
What God takes away, He replaces with another.
He gets pizza all the time back in Austria... they love that there..
Nope, we're going to have fahitas and nachos...
He actually had his first Mexican food (TexMex) on Sunday... took him to Jalapeno Tree, and he ordered Tacos... he'd heard of them, but never ate one... he loved it... so, for Super Bowl, I'll expose him to a bit more adventurous Mexican meal.
