Mona in Metcalfe, ON(Zone 5a)

only for today tomorrow is going to be -16C then I will be colder again

Buffalo, NY(Zone 6a)

Nice progress, JoAnn .... much faster than any of my home improvement projects!!

Only 28ºF yet, but the sun is trying to poke through. Some warmth, no wind to speak of.

Mona in Metcalfe, ON(Zone 5a)

last winter because of all the snow the coyotes got real hungry and started eating pet dogs for food the city had to hire hunters to go out on snowmobiles and take them out

they started being on peoples front lawn in the mornings people got afraid to go out to work at the end of two months they the hunters had kills about three dozen that kept hanging around houses and private people and farmers killed some also but no numbers this year its not as bad since we have less snow

South Hamilton, MA

There is a pack of 6 in our area at least. We have seen them in backyards & walking down the road. they came to our wall & then left. When DH checked they had driven a batch of turkeys up against the wall & realized there were too many beaks & talons to attack. I thing they got the deer because of deep snow; our present snow keeps the deer yarded up so I bet that both deer & coyotes are pretty hungry.

Mona in Metcalfe, ON(Zone 5a)

last year at one point we had about 14 feet of snow it was awfull the deer was having a hard time walking around havent seem any coyotes this year which is good last year I was afraid of letting the kids play outside without my husband out with them

this year at least we have the back yard fenced with five feet chain link so the kids and the dog play there it is safer

South Hamilton, MA

That is scary. Since coyotes have increased, I'm glad that we no longer have the horses. They have been around for years, but not as big a pack & not as close.

Mona in Metcalfe, ON(Zone 5a)

the problem is that all the wolves are gone been hunted down to nothing by farmers so now the colyote are the top of the food chain and nothing to keep the numbers down so it looks like we will have to deal with them

Cloudy but decent out ........ Just got back from NY state, went and picked up a friend with 3 antique pieces of furniture. We should of continued right over to PA and saw that furry little guy so he could not see his shadow.

Mona in Metcalfe, ON(Zone 5a)

or you could have sat on the hole so he wouldnt be able to go back in hahhahahah

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

guess the weather people can't get this one straight... one sight says a couple of inches of snow tonight... another said several... gotta love it

Mona in Metcalfe, ON(Zone 5a)

well a couple can turn into a few or if they are not sure that is what they say so it could be two or up to 6 inches lol hahhahah

Thomaston, CT

It was 47, but mostly cloudy--still, I went for a walk---then chopped more ice---I can finally see my front walk---now more snow? Bummer.

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

Storm warnings posted for SE Ma. Now they say 6-8 inches with 2 foot drifts. Are they serious? I wish they would make up my mind. This morning it was light snow 2-4 inches tops. I don't think they have a clue. We do not need more snow! We have had a little melting but not a noticeable difference in the snow depth out there. Did get rid of the ice on driveway and walks at least. Current temp is still 43 degrees.

Mona in Metcalfe, ON(Zone 5a)

ah I said it couple turns into 6 or more inches hahahha I have to check my weather probably changed also

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

HOLY COW... want to talk about heart palpitations.... heard a loud boom and felt the house shake.. a half hour later i look out my front window to 2 fire trucks and over a dozen police cars... I run outside to see what's going on... and it was my wacky neighbor might have a gas leak.... ends up there was an earthquake out in PA that shook my house here in NJ.... unrelated.... SIGH... BIG OLE SIGH and the police said they don't think there is a gas leak after all ... guess I won't be sleeping for a while (we call that neighbor the freak squad by the way)

They did have snow in England. I think I saw yellow lillies with snow bending them over.

As long as you dont hear no more booms you will be ok!

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

well it's confirmed there was a small earthquake

31 now and snowing ... going up to 34 and now saying we are getting 3 - 4 inches

Buffalo, NY(Zone 6a)

That's exciting, Allison! We get shakes here in WNY .... we are on a fault line, hence the Niagara Cataract ..... Glad they are ALWAYS weak shakes!!

That was "fun," wasn't it!!

not sure if I would call it exciting.... between lack of sleep and snow.. my butt is staying home!

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

I guess we get little earthquakes all around the NE but you rarely can feel them. It would be unsettling to have one strong enough to shake things up. Your incident with the neighbor doesn't help quiet the nerves I'm sure.
Just starting to snow here. Temp is dropping, now at 33º with a strong 10-20mph wind blowing in from the n-nw.

We dont feel them either. Been there done that.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Wow, I remember one earthquake we had woke me up in the middle of the night around 1986 or so.

It's snowing right now... a lot colder than it was yesterday.... low tonight of 16

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

30 and no snow yet - here in cambridge at work it has started.

Thomaston, CT

Thirty, cloudy, snowed a little during the night---more snow this pm, so I won't get to my art class----SIGH! My DH grew up in NH--said one quake knocked the dishes off the shelf.

Pittsford, NY(Zone 6a)

I'm posting this question as many places as possble
Anyone grow cyclamen with hosta?
Where do you grow this fall bloomer.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

I have my cyclamen near my hosta but not among the hosta.

I just got back from a town 30 miles north of me and the sun is trying to come out! Cloudy here though.

South Hamilton, MA

Snowing & blowing. We are the line between 1-3" & 3-6" sigh.

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

Temp now down to 26º. Lots of blowing of the very light snow about by the strong steady 10mph plus wind. Snow very light so far, could get heavier this pm but for now just barely covering the driveway and walks. This is definitely not what I want to see out there. Waaaaa!

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

Thirty degrees and snowing - but might be as high as 50 degrees by Sunday!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Snowing AGAIN. 30 and getting windy. Only halfway though winter. How depressing.

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

. . . ah, but the snow does insultate our plants, correct? So that is a good thing, isn't it, Victor? ^_^

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

The only one...
