Today's Weather in Your Garden - 38
Waaaaaa . . . . I want spring to come! Current temperature = 21 degrees, expected high 26.
Hopefully, no one was injured. I imagine that house is full of character.
Glad there were no injuries .... Hate to see anything historic get hurt!
Saw the story on the news tonight, David--Clinton is such a pretty town--glad everyone got out safely! The day started out sunny & frigid---minus 2---but became cloudy & 20's---stayed in the house babysitting HayHay & Grant---my DIL had a abcessed tooth & had to go to the ER.
Robindog...looked on the New Haven news but missed it.
Don't think we broke 0 this morning but it was close.
Oh...on the abcess. They are terrible.
Clinton is still working on preservation. Unlike Madison , my hometown next door, there are old houses here that need some restoration (mine included). The upside to that is I can afford to live here...
13 now going up to 29.... looks like we are in for more snow tomorrow night
:(
Another very cold start at -2. Sun just coming up enough so its light out and looks like it is going to be mostly sunny. Wind is still calm. Not happy about more snow rumors for wednesday.
Currently 23. Wish we had some snow cover to insulate those plants. Will be anxious to see what comes back.
Glad about the no injuries!
We're fortunate this year Jan23. No lack of snow cover. Has a nice icy glaze on it too. This is my third winter back in New England since leaving in the 70s and the first that I can say has been close to the winters I remember. First year I was still putting bulbs in after Christmas. This year the freeze caught me by surprise and I scrambled in November to plant the last of them
House down the street appears it will be saved. Damaged areas were boarded up last night. Roof looks OK. Second foor must be gutted but didn't see damage on the first.
Hopefully they will be able to renovate it w/o much problem.
Current temp 28
Love Madison, mainly for Hammonassett----I've not been down in several years because of my DH's disability, but it's a great birding area.
It hasn't been really cold here yet. The long range agricultural forecast for the Northeast calls for the first two weeks of February to have normal temperatures and above normal precipitation. I remember really cold days of -25 or lower growing up in northeastern Vermont. We had a farm and when you went into the barn it looked like steam coming out of the cow's nostrils on the coldest days. The cow's coats would grow longer and thicker and when it started warming up late in the winter they would have to be shaved. I don't know if modern farms shave their cows now. It seems like the hair should fall off when it warms up. Most farms keep their cows in free-stall housing. That means that the barn is open where the cows are kept. Maybe they get to rub their fur off. One thing that I have been noticing is that many cows are kept in sunny pastures with no access to shade. When I was growing up our cows would lie under trees when it was really hot. It really bothers me when I see pastures with no shade.
A house in Gloucester exploded, got the man out but he is in critical condition. Cold & nippy today, we are in the 8" to 12" zone for Wed. snow.
22 now... going up to 30.... supposed to get a flurry this morning... tonight 2 - 4 inches... and more tomorrow
4 - 8 inches of snow expected tonight. Lake Erie is almost completely frozen over.

Its 15*
Sun is out for now. Temp is starting to climb towards 19º. High might get to 30 degrees. West wind is light at 5mph. Winter storm warning for tonight. Looks like a messy mix here with 3 or 6 inches of snow topped with sleet, freezing rain and ending with cold rain, then the whole mess will freeze overnight on wednesday. :(
Currently 27 and snowing lightly. More expected tonight. Also a mix afterward.
Weather people have lowered our prediction from 6-10" to 4-8" 20 degress now.
It's 20 & cloudy---very damp feeling---loved the story about shaving cows--our friends have a dairy in NH----I'll have to ask them if the cows get shaved! I wouldn't want to do it---those big Holsteins scare me!
cloudy and 29
waiting for the snow
Storm coming--sun today, but the temperature was not warm.
well so far we have 2 - 3 inches... and snowing pretty hard 21 out now going up to 35... we have the possibility to get up to 6 or 8 inches... then changing over to freezing rain.... joy o joy
22* here and snowing.
I can hear the plows.
Snowing, again. Temp is 22º,light wind from the NE. Depending on who you listen to we should only get 3-5 inches before it turns to rain with every type of precip in between this afternoon. ☃
I just want it to go away.
snowing and 15 here - about 2" on the ground
We got about 2" last night and now freezy rain on top. It's quite crusty out. Current temp 30. Dh doesn't have school today, but hadn't gotten the official word until 6:15. He usually leaves the house by 6:30. He refused to take a shower this morning. LOL knowing that the minute he did, the phone would ring, then mom and I would be awake cuz I would stumble around trying to get to the phone while my heart is pounding out of my chest. (You know what that feels like - a phone call in the midst of sleep) :) Now I know what you all haved been going through this winter. (kind of) We have always been just to the south of the 'mess' until yesterday.
wow is it coming down fast.... let the dogs out an hour ago... can't see where they walked now
Waiting for the storm, no snow as of yet.
Cloudy: 7°

looks like the rain/ice/snow line is moving north and we will have rain/ice this afternoon -taking my wife for minor surgery late this morning should be a good slide home later.
that on top of the skating rink the driveway is from a previous storm that froze on me before i could get home from work. could be hockey night pepperel on the driveway tonight.
I hear ya, trying to get the last of the ice off the deck before the predicted 18" falls on us!
Freezing rain here right now. We had just enough accumulation of snow to have the plows come out and take down my mailbox. grrr.
