This guy was from India ... Sanju Bhagat.
I don't remember the channel I saw the documentary on, I was thinking it was Discovery Health.
Here is an article with snap of the genuine "male" I was thinking of after Karen mentioned the SurvivorMan series.

Garden Photos of '09......#1
Speaking of "Man against Wild" Has anyone given thought to the risks the crew takes who have to position themselves above the guy when he climbs?
I have seen photos of huge tumors like that. Pretty nasty.
Absolutely, Jo Ann. I am WAY more impressed by them. They do everything he does, but have to film to boot. That's why I am more impressed with SurvivorMan.
I would imagine there arent very many "retakes" just a lot of film to edit.
Survivor man yes I agree, he does his own thing.
Doesnt make me want to test my mettle against any of it.
I just wonder how they do it. For example, when he is struggling climbing a mountain and the shot is from above!
Last month, Bear Grylls just had to be flown off an iceberg somewhere where he was trying to snowmobile? skijet? down the glacier? Had to wait a couple days first, before they could get him.
He broke his shoulder, or something, I think. They were hinting that he lives it up in hotels at night, and pads his "adventures."
Yes, there was some controversy about him a year or so ago. That's why there is disclaimer at the beginning now saying that the crew sometimes gets emergency aid 'in accordance with legal requirements', or something like that.
RC that WH pic is really nice, what a nice combination.
As is your choices JoAnn. Those cyclamen look really interesting. I hope you have better luck with them than I did.
Victor I really like all your cardinal pics. Ms C is very pretty. I know they are looking for some spring too.
At least the sun is out, another morning and more new snow. Took this pic this am when I slogged out to feed the birds, squirrels , deer and what ever else visits the feeders out there. It is pretty but the thrill of fresh sparkling snow in the sunlight has long since passed.
Oops sorry about the humongous pic. Don't know what went wrong there.

Thanks Pat. I like that sun shot.
I think MA south shore got more snow than we did, but enough so our driveway plow person came. I do wonder what damage the chippies & the like are doing underneath.
Victor ,maybe the crew is at the top with zoom lenses.
Ngam, I am not encouraged by soooo many DGre's whe have had failures with cyclamen.
Just another thing to worry about until this fall.
I'm gunna try anyway.
But how do they get there??
RC which tiarella is that?
Chopper
But we're led to believe that they're dropped off and left. If they have choppers at the ready, what else do they have? Catered food? Hot showers? (Women?) Does Bear actually sleep in those camps he makes?
My sister can take apart a program technically so there is no magic or entertainment left to enjoy
I'm sorry if I burst bubbles here but it is ENTERTAINMENT'I'm sure the sweat is real and the leaches and eels etc.
How do you suppose those things just show up for the right camera angle?.
She started with the Crockadile guy who got carried away with himself as a doctor and died as a result of removing the stingray barb improperly.
Totally distroied nature showes for me.
Now she watches alone.
OOOH
OHHH
I was astounded to learn "Cold Mountain" wasnt filmed in the beautiful Ozarks, but Czecklosovackia sp ( sorry all you Czecks)
I bet it's really apple juice he is drinking ......
Gummy bears?
When I was first married to the sports writter , he covered Professional wrestling.
It was a big TV deal even in the late 50's.
He used to go to BuffaloNY to interview Pedro Martinez the promoter.
I went once to see the practice ie rehearsals.
Found out there was a built up part of the floor that made a terrible crash when the wrestlers hit the floor, just like landing on a drumb. Even the shouting matches were scripted, what a dissapointment.
Wrestling has come a long way and alas it was part of the entertainment world then and even moreso now.
How awful to have minimal saliva and chew gummie bears.
I'm sure there is a craft tent for the crew, they couldnt all be suffering, someone has to have a steady hand on the camera.
I dont know about "women" Maybe Behr doesnt play on that team.
Thanks all,
Schicken, well at least it can't be really muddy soil there! This is a good thing. heavy, muddy, soil is usually the cause of those odd brown marks. So, hopefully whatever is bothering it, other than cold, it snaps out of!
Pretty pics Ngam!
Dahlia nut... did you know that I goofed and put the wrong name with that picture? Teehee!! I didn't even think about it until you said that. It's actually a... Tellima!!
Tellima 'Forest Frost'
Hi all. I haven't chimed in for a while, but I thought you might like to know that I now officially have a deer problem! w00t! ok, maybe not.
They've found the backyard and saw one by the bird feeders, which was fine. Then they found the arborvitae I have on both sides of the house. I didn't notice until recently just how much they ate, and it looks like they are coming back more frequently. I think I'll wrap them (the shrubs, not the deer, which would be quite difficult!) in burlap to discourage them and see if the shrubs come back next year.
At least they're interested in the crabapple - no one else seems to be (not even the robins that came by, nor the squirrels who ate the berries off the other tree). Though luckily they can only reach a few branches. :)
The robins worked over the remaining berries on the crabapple last month. Sorry deer, someone else's property should be your goal.
Love your address, Sherrie! I'm sure the rhody will be back---just some windburn. The squirrels & deer are getting bolder----too much snow. My DH keeps yelling at me to get his pellet gun in the basement---I keep forgetting--on purpose!--Our feeder is a popular place---lots of tracks--if I can open a file, I'll have a photo.
Ge I think I had my cyclamen in too moist of a spot... the failure might have been my own fault
Whatcha growin WNYwillieB?
isnt cyclamen a woodland plant??? if so it would like rich well drained soil and shade
that is where I planted mine hope it comes back not sure since if I remember right it is zone 6 and Im in 5
Germination test of bulk seed purchases from Hazzard's Wholesale Seeds. Want to order more from them, but never had, and wanted to test the viability of their products before I made more purchases. So far, looking good!
Seeds planted 10 days ago (Last Sunday).
Sprouted: Basil (Mammoth & Aroma 2), Aster alpinus, Scabiosa Fama, Edelweiss and Digitalis.
Still waiting on: Filipendula hexapetala, Gunnera, Heliotrope, Buddleja and Delphinium, which are, by nature, longer germinators .....
I think I need to move the Delphinium to the greenhouse floor where the temp is more near the 50ºF they want to germinate. I think they like it chilly to start.
Just a little teaser before March Madness! The Photo was of the one of the Basil.
Does Bear really eat all the nasty stuff they show him eating? I mean, in one show he dragged a sheep carcass out of the mud on an Irish moor, and he took a bite of the raw heart. In another episode he saved a rattlesnake skin from a snake he had cooked and eaten, and he peed into it and drank the urine later as he was out of water. Nasty! And do they camera crews carry supplies of fresh water around with them? They must.
I didn't know that pregnant man was really a woman anatomically (not the man from India). Did he/she have a sex change? Obviously he/she still has the internal plumbing.
Well, back the the subject of this thread, my sister cut down a big maple in our backyard on Monday, and I got to use the chain saw for the first time. It wasn't so bad. We needed more sunlight for our veggie garden, which we plan to expand this year.
Karen
