Possible Clematis co-op..right now they are looking to see how many are interested. There is a potential list of varieties if anyones interested. I see Patti has already visited! lol

I thought they stopped all the co-ops?
lol Sherrie!!
Jen they did stop but started them up again for a bit. I've been taking advantage of it. lol
I would love some but being in canada kinda messes things up they do not allow live plants without papers lol
Its not just plants but can be seeds too. They tell you how and what to do here.

3.5 inch plants are pretty small. With clems, more so than other plants, the root size makes a big difference in the success or failure of the plant. These would really have to be nursed.
Did you check out the picture of the roots?
Yes - the entire plant fits in the woman's palm!
Hope so. I'm not trying to discourage anyone - just speaking from experience. I tried small ones and did not have good success with them. I would certainly use crystals with them.
It's the selection thats getting me....not everyone of those can be found else where. Or maybe im feeling to lazy to look for them all! lol
There are certainly many varieties. The other red flag for me is that this is the first time this place is being tried. Even the guy doing the co-op never tried them. He only has his first order in now.
I might try one....
Keep us posted. If it's good, I might try the next time!^_^
I see pirl said she was interested too......
Thanks for the info Celeste.
"She might have a big hand" lol

I you feel your mind is not sharp have your blood tested for b6 andb12 that is the food for the mind vitamins if you are low it feels like you have lost it hahahah a shot from the good doctor will fix it right up
LOL you guys are cracking me up.
If you order a small clem don't plant it right away. Re-pot in a nice deep larger pot and bury the first two leaf terminals. Let it grow for a few months then plant it in its permanent place and bury two leaf terminals again. You will have a good root system and several stems to start the next growing season. I do agree with Victor hough, when it comes to clems, bigger is better.
Thats for the tip Pat....i'll need it if I decide to try them.
That's how they should be planted in the ground as well - buried deep. I plant them with the crown about two inches under the surface. I also treat 2's like 3's the first couple of years and prune them hard. All this leads to more stems and flowers. And they can't dry out.
Clems are another plant I'm really starting to get into.
whew.....Finally found the receipt...load of my mind.....now you know why I hate my kitchen island...ends up being a catch all it was buried under my sons school papers
I am going to go buy a cheapo desk somewhere so I can better organize my life. Not waiting for hubby(been waiting 4 years!!!!) to fix my cabinet shelves where I keep my bills and stuff.
they also like to be put in the hole on an angle towards where it will climb and keep the roots cool by planting annuals or low perennial to shade the root ball
Yes - 45 degree angle.
Same problem, Jen. Not to mention the dining room table.
Jen - maybe the note you left hubby asking him to fix it...
I'm not appreciating the 'First bloom!' threads I'm seeing on other forums! Unfair.
The only thing blooming here is the mold in the coffee cup I forgot about on the back of my desk.
