Betty we haven't gotten any amount of snow for a bit. But we have been below zero for some time now. But we are on a warm up trend. Our high today will be 6 above. LOL Not as much wind either. Sun is trying to shine. That will be the best if it does. Sunshine in winter is always good!
Best/ worse/ ? did you learn today? #80 visit with friends..
We've been down below freezing here, we got some wet snow a couple days ago, but nothing that stuck.
JESSE UPDATE....
Just spoke to Jesse..
I know we've all been through hard times at one time or another and somehow we've managed to pull through, always a bit of light broke through the harshness of the day, a light that gave us the will to go one...
I personally don't know how this young woman continues..I am so sure there are many more like she but at this minute it's Jesse that somehow I hope we are ble to help ...
Jess no longer has internet service so is unable to communite with anyone..
When I called she was crying, she was in pain!!! The air mattress she bought no longer keeps air in for any amount of time..has patched it up but no keeps air in for any length of time...every few hours she has to wake to refill... because of her illness, sleeping on a hard floor surface is creating a multiture of other problems..
Her husband (NOT saying DH at this point) didn't pay the hydro so she was without heat during the coldest part of the month...she is without meds as she must contact apply to Human Health & Resources..because it's 30 miles away she has no way of getting there, closest bus stop is 1 1/2 miles from her apartment..she was given a number where they would do the application by telephone however when she calls the number she was given it's a 'press 1/press3/press1 type answer and no human picks up the call...
Her hydro is due again today although hubby says he's no funds to help...so she's not sure what will happen if he doesn't...
So there she sits, no furniture, has a t.v. but no reception, computer system but no service..no meds..says she continues to pray and trust the Lord but many a day she wonders why she should go on..what life there is for her here on earth...
Not being from the USA can any of you tell me what kind of discount chain store might have mattresses????
Vicki you are a bit warmer than we..we're still in the -20's for the next few days at least at night..keep looking at the calendar here..once Sunday comes we'll be able to say next month things will warm up...
Laura, sorry you aren't well ... you have had a lost of stress put on you with FIL and having to find accommodations..let's hope things improve for you and your family..sending prayers and soft hugs...
You know, almost embarassed, well am embarassed, here I am in my little country house not the TajMahal but none the less my home, so comfy, heat, food, meds when needed, friends who call and those who care on DG..always a warm feeling of being special and I complain when I have a few days of 'yuk' omg not so sure I could cope or endure what some others such as Jesse must go through each and every day just to make it through a day...
Recently I overheard a mother and daughter in their last moments together at the airport. They had announced the departure.
Standing near the security gate, they hugged and the mother said, 'I love you, and I wish you enough.'
The daughter replied, 'Mom, our life together has been more than enough. Your love is all I ever needed. I wish you enough, too, Mom.'
They kissed and the daughter left. The mother walked over to the window where I was seated. Standing there I could see she wanted and needed to cry. I tried not to intrude on her privacy, but she welcomed me in by asking, 'Did you ever say good-bye to someone knowing it would be forever?'
'Yes, I have,' I replied. 'Forgive me for asking, but why is this a forever good-bye?'.
'I am old, and she lives so far away. I have challenges ahead and the reality is - the next trip back will be for my funeral,' she said.
A wish for YOU!!!
I wish you enough sun to keep your attitude bright no matter how gray the day may appear.
I wish you enough rain to appreciate the sun even more.
I wish you enough happiness to keep your spirit alive and everlasting.
I wish you enough pain so that even the smallest of joys in life may appear bigger.
I wish you enough gain to satisfy your wanting.
I wish you enough loss to appreciate all that you possess.
I wish you enough hellos to get you through the final good-bye.
They say it takes a minute to find a special person, an hour to appreciate them, a day to love them; but then an entire life to forget them.
That's horrid! One of those cases where whenever you think your life is tough... I don't know what can be done, or what I could do with as tight as we are right now, but if there is let me know. At the least I can put her in my prayers.
I've never wished to win the lottery, except that it would meet my needs and allow me to do things for others. I've always just wanted "enough"; my family, my pets, a few friends, good health for myself and those I know, enough money to allow me to live comfortably, with a little extra to splurge occasionally. I'm blessed in some of those areas, but could sure use a lot more in others. I want to own property, but I think I could get a loan (well maybe, the economy being what it is) for what I want if we made $45,000 a year. With as well as we do manage with what we make now, I think that would make us quite comfortable.
Prayers are what's needed Laura..it's difficult to ask for financial help when so many are hurting themselves..
Walmarts I would try Betty.... I was afraid she didn't have her meds...
She needs to muster up some sort of strength deep inside her and get to a clinic were often they have free samples for people whom have no $$ or insurance. Does she have medicaid? She really needs to get to a Dr....
I really get upset when the Gov. can give 300 million dollars to Africa to fight aids and poverty and we can't help our own suffering people in the US. Unbelievable.
I'm not sure what type of services are in Plano but there should be something for her. I know when we couldn't get my mom to the Dr.s there was some type of free transportation to and from the Dr.s that she called and made appt.s to come pick her up and drop her back off again.
Hopefully a few of us can pull together and find some info and phone numbers that she can call and make arrangements to at least get to the Dr.s and get straightened around with her meds? I think that would be helpful to her.
For that situation I'd find a way to throw in a little. That's the way the world should work. As far as I understand the Navajo believe that being "wealthy" is an embarrassment, unless all your people are as well off. The way I take that is if you have "enough" you should take care of others before adding the "extra". I try to live that way, and with her situation being so far below mine...
If she can get to her DSHS they should be able to help her. It's not enough, but it is something.
I've always been blessed, not RICH, but never hurting..even now being on my own I have enough for my needs, extra to treat family friends..you just don't realize how much you truly have..
Better be saying prayers of thanks today!
We should all be saying prayers of thanks more often than just Thanksgiving; there are very few people that don't have something to be thankful for if they really looked at their lives.
Delane and Laura..her main problem is trying to get to an office as she's about 30 miles away..
She contacted several offices who say they help but they want her coverage number in order to help, but she can't get the number unless she gets help to get there..vicious circle I would say..not sure of how USA system works so can't comment on how she should go about it..
I told her I'd call tomorrow BUT don't want to use up all her air time on her telephone then what would she do???
Amen to that Laura..
Betty,it just hit me... if you talk to Jesse give her this information... it is the address and phone for the First United Methodist Church in Plano. Our Church here has a special fund set aside that they use to help people in such situations....sometimes with money and also with helping them connect with the correct agencies for their particular situation....you do not have to be a Church member to request help...
