i watched Billy Buck throw the first pitch last season with the 2007 banner covering the entire left field wall - was not his fault.
So victor - wise guy from NY - what happened to the met's the last two seasons - LOL
Coffee Break: Odd News, Helpful Info and Laughs for 2009
Oh, Pixie---another babydoll---just as cute as her sister! It's been 8 months since my last GK was born---I'd love for them to have just 1 more! Loved the miracle on the Hudson yesterday---my nephew Mark flew from LaGuardia yesterday, & my brother panicked when he heard a plane went down--but relieved when he heard Charlotte, as Mark was headed to Billings. Speaking of the West--- Today's temps--Anchorage 40/31, Juneau 43/41, Denver 56/27, & Billings, where lucky Mark is--50/36. How crazy is that? We're freaking freezing, & Alaska is having Spring!
That is nuts!
Wish I had a good answer, Bill. They just crumbled.
The Met's bullpen was asleep or dead! This year should be a winning year!
That's for sure, Robin! The pitching in general was horrible.
Robin that's our Jan/early Feb ? thaw headed this way eventually. I hope.
Atta boy Bill, you betcha! That was a nice day for old Mr Bill. He deserved that honor sooner.
Don't think about the Mets much actually. They are in that other league that only counts in the fall. Haven't heard much about the Mets around that time of year much lately. They are certainly much better in the class department however than the other team across town. :)
A little cocky, Pat! Two championships in a century is hardly a dynasty!
victor watch it - or i'll post papelbon river dancing in his shorts!
after 86 years - not a century - we deserve some slack
No no Victor not cocky just saying that NL teams don't get much news time in these parts. Listen when you have hope they win before I die list I would not say I consider them a dynasty. Don't make me sorry about the more class statement now. Actually I would love to see the Mets biff NYY in the world series some year. A true popcorn event.
LOL Bill that's the truth. The shorts pics would scare anyone! Ha!
Okay - truce! I can sympathize. I am also a Rangers fan and it was 54 years between Stanley Cups.
Oh no, not the Bill Buckner picture again, didn't we already beat this horse to death? (of course it was a different thread) GARGH
Well, back to therapy again. *harumph*
Well if it makes you feel any better, Pam, 2007 was a very traumatic year for Mets fans. Worst collapse ever.
working from home today - there are two deer at my back property line eating buds off the brush and wild high bush blueberry - if they dare take a step into the yard - we'll be eating venison tonight!
Get 'em Bill!
lol
Everything went right for the people on the plane yesterday. Even the name of the captain of the first ferry to reach them - his name is Vincent Lombardi! The plane missed the GW bridge by 900 feet.
Jay Leno said US Airways said it still intends to credit each passenger with three frequent flyer miles!
Bet nobody else ever got from LaGuardia to midtown in three minutes.
just got back from running an errand - before going inside i paid my four legged friends a visit - they stormed out of there grunting at me the whole time - oh and i will not need to trim a noid hydrangea that they dined on
Talk about your worst nightmare - imagine surviving that harrowing experience, crash-landing in the Hudson, waiting to be rescued in frigid water - only to be told you're being taken to Jersey?!! Does it ever end?! (Hee hee - just kidding, Jersey ladies!)
"Thanks, but I'll wait for the next boat..."
has anyone seen this show -i think on ABC - where they test the public's reaction in a candid camera type situation - this past week it was asking people if you can cut in line at a super market - when the guy or old lady got the register bells and horns went off and they were awarded $500 for being the 5 millionth customer - and they filmed the reactions of the people who let them cut in - filmed in Jersey and NY - classic! - the accents alone had me rolling
Wut axent?!!
I'm a CheeseHead ^_^
Thanks for sending us a beaten-up Favre!
My pleasure ^_^ I often wonder why these guys don't retire in their prime but I guess look at Dan Marino. But maybe Dan Mario is an android. I think Jerry Rice is an android.
Android, steroid...
snicker
Hi everyone! I've been lurking a lot lately, not much to say, but keeping tabs on you all!
Pixie - CONGRATULATIONS on the arrival of your beautiful Isabella!!! She is just perfect!
Jan - Sorry about your horrible experience re: your car/lost key and the numbskull kid down the street. Don't worry.......what goes around, comes around.......the forces that be will get even with him at some point. But what a frustrating outcome on your end!!
Victor - I agree.....truly amazing outcome with the USAir plane. What an impressive pilot!
Celeste...Isabella is sooooo cute! That is a lot of hair!! Makes me want to have another....
Thanks Victor...jersey ain't THAT bad, well maybe.....
Anybody remember years ago that south Jersey wanted to secede and become its own state? Down here we don't want to claim that we're from 'joisey'. I live in the least populated county and they are trying to keep it that way.
I love Cape May! Great birding, but I've only been there in Spring & Fall--I imagine it gets very crowded in Summer. Still, it's a pretty spot, & I'd like to return. I also remember reading an article in the Smithsonian mag about tigers living in the pine barrens of central Jersey--thought that was cool.
http://ie.youtube.com/watch?v=wkryjSb47sk I'm back from Arizona. Hitting Hartford at 14 degrees Thursday night I just gotta wonder "Why?". Spent the better part of 4 days working in yard around the house clearing up the dead trees they had cut down. Here is a before picture.
And here is an after picture. I didn't do it alone - Dean and Candy worked on it too after they had finished their work in their home based business. Dog toys don't ship themselves you know! LOL Candy decided to use some of the logs as a border to divide the "natural" from the proposed lawn area. I just sent them a gift certificate from Wildseed Farms to buy native grass and meadow seeds. Besides being in weather warm enough that a sweatshirt was warm enough I got good exercise and had fun with a chipper and chainsaw.
Nice work!
