Coffee Break: Odd News, Helpful Info and Laughs for 2009
Great coffee. Thanks! Conversation isnt half bad either!!!
I will watch video in a moment after last child is on bus! See you then!
That's been in the news for a few days in NY. Custody of the kidney!
It's crazy! I didn't know donars could stipulate!
He is paying a big time lawyer. Its crazy. Its his way of running her through the mud I believe because he wont get it back. Everything said above is true. If you donate you know its gone.
You cant take it back or ask for money.
One word: ridiculous!
Someone is looking for a lot of publicity and not really looking out for the client.
I heard it was Howard Sterns lawyer as well. Publicity.
Well, in his defense, I would be quite upset if my wife cheated on me after I saved her life. Of course he's not going to get the kidney back. It's a ploy to to get a better settlement.
Almost every day now there are six deer of various ages at the bird feeder. I do not have the heart to shooo them away since it seems they are surviving on the leftovers from the birds and squirrels. They have not ventured into the garden yet. It has taken several years to train them not to, but my worry is that in the spring they will be noticing all the goodies and the battle will begin again. I have won recently in the fight and as soon as things start to grow they will get the crazy lady with pink clogs waving her arms and barking like a dog treatment. Deervick will be re-applied. There is also a new invader from late last summer, a groundhog that has moved into the yard. Get one every couple of years but they disappear eventually. Probably get invited to have dinner with the fox family. Bunnies of a few years ago seemed to have gone for the same meal or with the Hawks to dine out and not returned. What pesky neighbors try to share your garden and are you winning the fight?
Boris and Natasha Jackrabbits - very polite and welcome (I ignore minor nibbles)
Damien the Spawn of Satan Tree Rat - resorting to voodoo as I'm losing bigtime ARGH!
Crows and Magpies - Papa Robins are my heros.
right on victor! a little extreme going to court while you have to know you will lose. guy must be pretty upset and this may be better than some of the other alernatives that he must have thought of.
Any baby news????
Baby smells are great until they start eating solid foods.
I love them till they can walk, then can someone train them for me and give them back after they graduate high school?
My daughter is the classic textbook terrible 2. ugh!!!!!!!!!!!
Been there done that Jen. My opinion is all kids are great until they are four years old, start school and turn into people. It's all downhill after that until around 28 when they figure out that they actually don't know everything. Next major milestone is when they have kids of their own, boy do grandparents look really smart after that. :)
my niece is expecting a boy due last friday and nothing yet but it is so cold we think he just likes it in there and will not come till spring lol he will be named exavier
Hee hee - stop scaring me, Pat!
It's true Victor...im now a Saint! lol
No, no baby news....she's not having any major contractions and she's bumming. She just wants to get it over and she's huge with this one! I think Isabella is going to be a big baby, much bigger than her sister who was a month early.
Oh don't worry Victor. Boys are tolerable until around 14 when you lose all access to your bathroom. Anyone that doesn't understand that, sorry I'm not explaining except that before that you had to drag them in to use soap and water and after you can't get them out of the shower. Girls get weird a bit earlier but also turn back to more normal people sooner too. Just remember all the vile rotten things you pulled on your parents...what makes you think your kids will be any different? Actually it goes by much faster than it seems to at the time and there are many more rewards than "pits of despair". Enjoy!
I agree 100 percent my son at 21 is still a pita pain in the ass if I want a hot shower I had
better do it before he gets up because it seems that if he is home and up hot water no longer exist in the house and we have two hot water tanks and with two girls 9 and 10 so preteens that are starting to pms man I want to move out lol hahhahah
Victor your safe - just be careful with the car keys - girls on the other hand are possessed by the devil at the stoke of midnight on their 13th b-day. don't expect to have them back until they are 25.
About a half hour ago, I looked out the kitchen window and a flock of robins all landed. Looked like a bout 30 or so. also some black birds. Probably starlings? I didn't have my glasses on. LOL. I have seen a few robins around, but not that many. They better put their fur coats on come Thursday and Friday.
We only had boys, so can't speak to girl issues. I think we were spoiled. Our guys were great! No rebellion ( at least not visible) and we are still close. We are very thankful!!! Youngest is 28and the oldest is 34 with the twins in the middle at 30.
I too am lucky and never had a problem with my son, now 22. I'm ready for grandkids but he's not yet.
Good to hear, ladies. There's hope!
Oooh, Debi---grandkids are --Grand! I had Anni today---typical 2 year old--I read the same dinosaur book 10x, did the same puzzles over & over! But her smile is worth it all! Hope yourr DD is nearly there, Pixie!
Changing the subject. WHO LEFT THE FREEZER OPEN!!!!!!! It is to get down to lower temps than it has in years. It will be down in the 20's for 3 nights in a row. That is not normal. BURRRR!!!!!!!!!!!
20's will seem warm here the next few days!
I think I mentioned last fall that our car had been stolen and taken for a joyride. It had some damage on the rear bumper area ($700 worth) and the fancy key was lost. Well, the guy - who happens to live up the street was found guilty. He had left a beverage container in the car, so they had DNA and fingerprints. He was sentenced recently to 18 months probation and has to pay us back plus court costs. So when Jeff called to find out when we would get the money, he happened to say to the person - "Let's see, we'll get $10/month for 10 years right?" The person on the other end kinda laughed and said, well, court costs will be paid first and he is paying $35/month. So it will be a while before we see the money. Jeff just hates the idea of paying almost $200 for a key. Needless to say the bumper damage won't be done either. Hopefully we don't lose the only key we have. Jeff had one made at the hardware store and it doesn't work. The car shuts off, cuz it isn't a programmable one or some such nonsense. We just wanted the guy to say where he threw the key so we could go look for it. CRAZY!!!
Oh that's awful, Jan. Sorry you had to go through that.
Unbelievable Jan :(
It's kinda funny to see his reaction when we walk by his house. He's only 18. Doesn't seem remorseful at all.
Oh well.
That man is just despicable! How horrible!!!!
Pat, I am fighting the deer here. Many of you out there have probably heard my sad story of how the deer cleaned me out of thousands of daylily buds from hundreds of plants one night at the end of July. They have been coming regularly and dining on their own personal buffet. I will try various sprays this year and hope to win the fight against them. I get rabbits here, too, but my dog keeps them at bay for the most part. Had raccoons last spring and my Patches killed the babies, so momma moved on (they were in our dirt cellar). Had a woodchuck one year, and my Dad's dog killed her babies, and then she moved on. So it's just the deer here, though they can really wreak havoc.
I like kids when they're older than 5 and before they get to be 13 or 14. I don't like the baby stage or the teenage, bad-mouthing, rude stage. I never had kids. Can you tell?
Karen
Deer are a tough problem. When I am diligent about applying both Milorganite and Liquid Fence, I have had good results.
Terrible for you guys, Jan! Sorry I didn't comment on that in my previous post. I was cross posting. Took me awhile to catch up on all the posts just from today!
Karen
I was thinking about applying that Milorganite this year, Victor. I've read that it's great fertilizer and the deer hate it.
Thanks for the sentiments, youse guys are the bestest!
